Whole family came to this high end plaza for fast food, and we ended at this place. It locates at the mini food court, which has five different counters -- Maui poke, Italian food, American food, joey's kitchen and one more ( forgot the name) . We ended up with one four cheese pizza for the boy from the pizza station . And we got Pork Adobo plate and Loco-moco. For the loco moco lacks of the taste, no highlight in the plate-- good carb and portion for hungry stomach. For the Pork adobo plate, it is way too much salt for me, each bite pork need two or three spoons rice to neutralize the salty flavor. Portion wise is great. Honestly Joey's Kitchen was one of my favorite highlights during my recent trip to Maui. It's a great, no-frills Hawaiian and Filipino spot in the food court area at Whaler's Village that is a warm-welcomed escape from the sit-down and touristy price-inflated restaurants. Plus it's indoors with air-conditioning but also has outdoor seats too. The garlic shrimp I had was incredible--so flavorful with just the right amount of garlic, lemon, and cilantro that I came back the next day and got the same thing. My friend also loved his dishes at the Joey's Kitchen too. The food here is homely and delicious. Again, given this is a no-frills spot, it's not a fair comparison like some of the other reviews are doing in my opinion to subconciously compare it to the more famous restaurants in the area. This one's in the small food court of Whaler's Village and did not disappoint for breakfast. Blacken Mahi is very good. My son got a bacon cheeseburger (not very Hawaiian of him, but he liked it). My daughter enjoyed the Garlic Chicken and my wife went with stir fry. We all had a good meal after a busy day at the beach. You'll find Joey's in the village by going down the steps and entering a small food court - three restaurants. Approach the counter, pay and wait for your number to be called. They make it to order, so be patient. Only issue - It closes early. We arrived at 7:45p and it was set to close at 8:00p. After we got our order, we realized that the special request to hold the spicy sauce on my daughter's food was missed. It was too spicy for her. I talked to the people who were cleaning up (it was closed now). The person at the counter kept telling me "But I repeated it back to you and you said ok." My wife took that lead and stated that while we are not disagreeing that it was repeated back to us, we are asking if they could help in anyway. My wife's conversation was more productive and they said they would make her a new order. The food was quite good, and eating outdoors got us into the island mood. What we ordered: + Fish tacos - The fish is a thick slice of white fish (probably mahi mahi), grilled, and topped with some type of slaw and dressing. The fish was really good, and the portion was really big. The only negative is they only use 1 generic taco shell, and it was too thin to contain the thick piece of fish. It was falling apart and messy, but still tasty. + Mac and cheese - this was just pasta and cheese, nothing fancy like bread crumbs. It's just the way I like it. So cheesy and umious. read more

Decided to grab Joey's Kitchen on a Thursday night for dinner. My girlfriend and I were visiting Whalers Village and saw the lines for the other sit-down restaurants were ridiculously long, so taking some food to-go seemed like the next best plan. We got the Pork Adobo Fried Rice and the Fresh Ahi Poke Bowl. The Pork Adobo Fried Rice was pretty solid for the price. It had good flavors and wasn't too salty. The "Fresh" Ahi Poke Bowl was where I was dissatisfied. The portion of ahi wasn't the greatest and honestly felt more frozen than fresh. We were sadly expecting better quality food seeing the other pictures and reviews of this place. While I can't guarantee this, I had pretty bad stomach problems the day after and the first dish that came to mind was the ahi poke bowl. read more

We've been here before about 7 years ago. We remember the food being good, but forgot about it till it showed up on our phone when we were looking for dinner with our kids. The wait wasn't too bad. They were busy. This was around 5pm on a Friday. We order the appetizer, lumpia, the garlic chicken, the pork adobo and the shrimp pancit. The food was good, except we only got 3 shrimp in the pancit and that wasn't cheap. The noodles aren't the noodles I expected with pancit. They were like pandas express chow mein noodles, it might of even tasted like it. The pork adobo was a little dry and salty. However the garlic chicken was so good. The plates even come with some Mac salad and rice. We would eat here again, but maybe try different times they have. The drinks look fun too, but we didn't get one. read more

I've only had a few Filipino dishes in my life but I loved them, so I'm always open to trying this cuisine. According to Google, Joey's should have been closed when I stopped but people were still placing orders so they stayed open a little longer. Lucky me. I placed a to go order for some lumpia, which I've had several times, and the shrimp pansit, which I've never had. I always check my food before I leave. The food was so hot that I couldn't hold the container in my hand. I had to place it on the counter. I appreciate fresh, piping hot food. Once I got back to my hotel, I enjoyed my meal. The lumpia was as good as I remembered, the wrapping was light and flaky with a little pork filling inside. The pansit was delicious. The veggies were fresh with a slight crispness and the noodles were flavorful. Unfortunately, there were only 3 shrimp in the whole dish. Despite the lack of shrimp, it was still a tasty meal. Joey's is a bit expensive but worth the quality in food and ingredients. I got lured in by Guy Fieri's DDD. I ordered the Garlic Shrimp and the Kalbi Ribs. Garlic shrimp were huge, big 'ole prawns. Almost the size of the palm of my hands. The flavor was not as good as the shrimp trucks on the North Shore of Oahu but still good. I think it is more healthier with less butter than North Shore shrimp trucks. The kalbi ribs was the standout dish. Huge chunks of tender kalbi and full of flavor. Might I say the best kalbi that I've ever eaten?!? Overall, order the kalbi early and often! read more
