Joey's, what can I say? I didn't take any pictures because the ones here are sufficient. This is really a hole-in-the-wall joint. I love hole-in-the-wall joints. This tastes like home-cooked Mexican food. My burrito weighed 1 pound. It was about 75% meat. Good for them. The rice and beans were an accompaniment, not the main filler. Joey Jr. is there Monday through Friday. What a friendly and pleasant young man. They are very accommodating with the ordering process. You want it, they will do it your way. The burrito was great! This is hands down my favorite taco spot in the valley. The food never disappoints and my order is always right. Even on taco Tuesday the food quality is never compromised. I have been to other taco places where their taco tuesday tacos are not the same quality as they usually serve but this is not the case here. I have also had their quesadilla, tortas, and burritos and they also do not disappoint. The meat is always fresh and tender and well seasoned. Also every time I go it is a must to order churros. I have tried many many tacos and burritos in this area of the valley (including street vendors) and this will be my go to spot from now on. The shredded chicken burrito was amazing! The shredded chicken itself is so flavorful. We orders burritos of cabeza, shredded beef, shredded chicken, carne asada and a plate of enchiladas. Summary: Both Melody's and Las Fuentes closed on a Sunday coronavirus day - yelped it out and found this spot for a nice take out! I was totally impressed with this place... I thought my order rocked! Mi familia? Not as much as me... Food: I ordered the chicken burrito (wet) and it was insanely good! It had a little kick to it as well... the slices are legit good. I didn't have the chicken quesadilla but daughter ordered it and said it was so-so. My wife is big on hard tacos and loves Melody's' hard tacos .... Service: probably not applicable because I didn't dine in per covid-19 orders but the take out order was easy. Ambiance: inside is nice enough ... note: the location is not on reseda or Sherman way (at least I didn't see access from those streets).... it's in the alley in the back! One of the downfalls about living in the Maui is that there are some things that are scarce. One of these things for me is Mexican food. Oh, how I crave a fatty breakfast burrito and gluttonous carne asada nacho drenched in cheese and guacamole. Every time I return there's always 10 more food joints that open up in my parents' neighborhood. Joey's is one of those spots. Now, someone once told me that all Mexican food places are the same and you can't go wrong. I humbly but firmly disagreed. Not all burritos and tacos are made the same. And yes, you can go wrong sometimes. It could either be too oily or greasy. The meat is too bland. The meat to filler proportion is like 1:2 and of course, my biggest peeve is the SALSA! You cannot enjoy a decent burrito if the salsa ain't right! In this neighborhood, there's pretty much a Mexican joint every few feet so Joey's, I'll admit, can easily be overlooked. It's nestled in a plaza with a bunch of Vietnamese businesses so one wouldn't think to look for it here. The parking can be a bit of a pain during peak hours and weekends but we usually order ahead of time and are in and out in no time. Now what I love most about this place is that they get the simple things right. Their burrito has a good balance of meat and fillers. The meat isn't overly salty. When you bite into your burrito, the bottom of it doesn't leak out with oil. The salsas are freshly made and give my food a good amount of heat! The service here is simple and easy.
