Wanted a morning Bloody Mary (always on the look-out for the perfect Bloody Mary. Didn't think we'd find it here, but we were here so why not). The place stunk of disinfectant. I mean it was strong. Had a couple BM's, that honestly were pretty tasty and unlike most establishments around this area, only $10 each. They may have been better if it wasn't for that smell. read more

To the owners of John and Zeke's it would be his for your business to move the older blonde female bartender to another area. We love your bar as a whole, but our group of friends will miss no longer be coming here as long as she's bartending. I asked if we could play music on the jukebox and she said with attitude not too loud. She also gave us serious attitude when we were ordering. We were all polite and make it a point to tip generously but she was one of the worst servers I've ever encountered. She acts like she hates her job and life in general. I've got nothing against this bar itself. I enjoy the atmosphere, and for the most part the people in there are pleasant. However, my most recent visit made me sort of annoyed. We were asked to leave because we were "too drunk" (my friend was falling asleep I guess). OK, valid to ask from the bartender's POV. My problem arises when a complete stranger patron, sitting next to myself as I'm speaking to the bartender, began yelling in my friend and I's face to leave and eventually put his hands on me, shoving my friend and I. We were leaving, but the employees here did nothing to stop this random weirdo from getting in our faces and physically handling us. So, just know if something goes down here, you might be on your own. read more

So I'm not much of a Bar person I went to this place with some friends, the bartender was very welcoming and the place felt like everybody knows your name because from the minute you walk in every one is so friendly, wish I would of taken more pictures. There was even a guy with his beautiful dogs, this place is in downtown Healdsburg so if you are ever in Healdsburg walking the Plaza this is the place to go for a drink, inexpensive and may I mention that the Hot Dogs are the Bomb, We bought 6 Hot dogs that came with chips and a glass of red wine and our Check was $22.00 I think that was pretty good and the hot dogs were delicious. Attn: Mike and Tony. ID was taken away when card swiper didn't read my ID. I called to have cops come to verify ID is real. Bartender threatened me if I called the cops that the last girl got arrested. She wanted me to leave without my ID. She asked me to smile and show my wrinkles. She said I didn't have any so assumed I'm under age. I am upset and very embarrassed by how she treated me. All eyes were on me. She didn't ask for ID from anyone else I was with and one was younger. Love the bar but the patrons are trouble. We went there on a Healdsburg beer bike tour and tired to play shuffle board. However, some locals (we're from Santa Rosa) said that the shuffle board was their's and pushed us out in a rather uncivilized fashion. Not to mention they weren't even near the shuffle board table. I would not recommend this bar for anyone other than locals to Healdsburg as they are not welcoming to folks from outside of the immediate area. read more

Great little local dive bar with the nicest vibe. Everyone there was super kind and it was a great starting point for our trip. The drinks were perfect and the prices really couldn't be beat. We couldn't hang for long, but we would've stayed to play a few games of pool for sure. I'd recommend this place when your starting your night or ending your night depending on how your looking for the night to go. I also liked that they had TVs everywhere so we were able to catch the end of a football game we didn't want to miss. Great spot, great drinks and great prices. I visited John and Zekes a couple of weeks ago. I had a very poor experience. Went to play shuffleboard and was stared down and yelled at by patrons of the bar. As a woman it was scary to be yelled at by a larger man for having a good time with some friends playing shuffleboard and having drinks. The bar staff did not intervene on this, which I felt was a personal responsibility of the bar. The drinks were fine. read more

Lots of drama with her and her friends and no one playing on the table as she wouldn't let anyone play. Bouncer could care less even when bringing it up to him. This place is trash now. The lady at the bar explained how the bloody was prepared without attitude and for you horseradish haters out there, it's not in the mix. Whoo hooo! This place is great if you're young, from out of town and you need a full service bar on the weekends. I also agree with a few reviews below that John & Zeke's is "the" place for college kids who are now 21+, back from college, and are able to drink - this can lead to a high school reunion-like atmosphere. If you do not fall into these categories, however, this is not the place for you. If you're a local, you will probably be at the B & B. Or if you're a true local, you're probably sitting at the AVB. My experiences in here have been rather unpleasant each time I have been in. I've gone in during week nights where it's been totally empty and struggled to get the bar tender to wait on our group. It's not a big place and it's not like they can't see you coming in. One time, after waiting for awhile (more than 10 minutes) for the bar tender to finish waiting on two top heavy middle-aged women, and then realizing that he was busy "talking" with them, we finally decided to leave. As we get to the door, the bar tender yells, "What's wrong with you? Why are you leaving?" We said, "Because we've been waiting for awhile and you wouldn't help us. We just wanted a beer." He yells at us with "Well, you're probably from out of town anyway. We don't need your service." Yah, I'm from out of town like you don't need my business. read more

Turns out one of them was the owner of John & Zeke's. Of course, we had to check it out. Upon walking in, I realized I'd been there before, over 10 years ago. My sister suggested this place as a "nice dive bar" and definitley wasn't what I expected for "dive". It was better (probably because the town its in is all very quaint and cute). It was very clean and maintained. They had pool tables and shuffle board tables which seemed to be a common place for most patrons. They had a touch tunes to choose your own music and tvs to watch the game. We came on 3rd of July so it was pretty slow around town so we got fast service and decent priced drinks (7 for ketel sodas). The thing that would make this place a little more divey than it looks are the people that are here. Came across a few very trashed guests who were kind of mouthy. Overall, I would return to John And Zekes. Plus, THEY ALLOW DOGS INSIDE---our buddy was very popular with everyone :) read more
