I scheduled a cleaning with Aspen Dental on 2.25.26 for a cleaning as a new patient. I completed…read morethe preliminary paperwork online, submitted my insurance information and had my previous dentist send over my dental file. When I arrived for my appointment I was told they could not open the encrypted medical file and that I needed to have the x-rays sent to myself to submit to Aspen directly. It is a MEDICAL OFFICE dealing with sensitive medical information and I cannot be the only patient to have their former provider send over an encrypted medical file due to HIPAA. After doing that, I was told they would not accept the X-rays because they were more than 1 year old, and that I needed to pay them nearly $300 to start my file with them for new X-rays because my insurance company would not pay. I reluctantly paid for the X-rays with my FSA card and asked for a detailed receipt. Then after keeping me there for nearly 3 hours to endure an entire sales pitch, I finally got my teeth cleaned. Three receipts later I NEVER got a DETAILED receipt to show that I paid for X-Rays. It only says I paid $272.00, but does not say for what (so now my FSA will not accept the charge because they need to know what the $272.00 charge was for, as all HSA and FSA companies do). In addition, they not only billed my insurance company for the cleaning, but also for the X-rays they said the insurance would not pay for! It was new insurance with my company and my first claim ever with them, so I knew they would pay as there was never a previous claim. ASPEN is double dipping. Now I cannot get in contact with anyone in the office to question this, get a copy of my X-rays that they were paid for TWICE and get a detailed receipt which was sketchy from the beginning. The call keeps getting routed to an answering service. This place is a total racket. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS OR MONEY.

They lack customer service. The place is very shabby and dingy. The building and yard in general. The equipment is old. The hygienists seem out of touch with their job descriptions. No one ever answers the phone. I have watched 3 people walk in and out due to no one at the front desk. I've seen a customer walk in and sit for 20 mins without someone coming to the front desk. One hygienist goes back and forth from the back to answering phones and checking people out. I was quoted incorrect pricing for services after contacting my insurance company to verify. This also was noted on Google reviews and other reviews that this happened to others. The dentist is nice but that does not make up for the insensitivity of the workers and the establishment. My last appointment, I waited for 48 mins. No one said, we will be with you, or there is a problem sorry for the wait, it may be a long wait would you like to reschedule. Nothing. I expressed my views on their lack of customer service and the issues with this raggedy crown. I suggest people steer clear of this facility.

You can tell they take care of the team considering how well they treat their patients. I had to bring my son to the appointment and they were extremely understanding and helpful whenever he was being a kid hahah. I will be 100% returning and voicing my great experience. They're out of network from my insurance and I will still come here, this is an investment I am willing to make. Special shoutout to Lisa, she was indescribably good, and Dr. Nguyen, very professional and non-judgmental. Loved it, 10/10 will recommend

Multiple BILLING ISSUES: I've been a patient at Atlanta West Dentistry for over five years…read more Initially, I was very pleased with their services the staff seemed professional, the reviews were great, and the dental work met my expectations. However, over time, I've encountered multiple ongoing billing issues that have ultimately led to my decision to leave this practice. One of the main issues involved overcharges of hundreds of dollars, primarily by front desk staff (specifically Hailey). These discrepancies were only corrected after I contested the charges using my Explanation of Benefits (EOB). While I appreciated that some credits were eventually applied to my account, these errors continued to occur raising serious concerns about accuracy and transparency. Even after addressing previous issues, the same pattern repeated. I strongly recommend that anyone receiving treatment here carefully review their EOBs and compare them to what they are being charged out-of-pocket. On one occasion, I was told I had fillings done on both tooth #2 and #5, yet I clearly remember work being done only on tooth #2. Despite voicing this, I was still billed for both. When I requested clarification, Robin attempted to explain the charges, but they still did not align with what was billed to my insurance provider. This experience has not only been frustrating but has also led me to question the integrity of some of the billing and treatment practices. It's deeply disappointing after years of being a loyal patient. As a result, I will no longer be returning to Atlanta West Dentistry, and I will be transferring the care of my entire family elsewhere. I'm also advising anyone I previously referred to this practice to check their billing statements closely or consider other options. I hope this review serves as a helpful warning for others to be vigilant and protect themselves from potential overcharges or miscommunication. Look at the details of what was billed to my insurance and then to me out of pocket. I am really considering taking them to small claims court and reporting them to the Board

In fact, it's a very much family like atmosphere in a super doper modern office. I've been to other modern dental offices. OK comparing with the office of MY dentist. Always helpful, never judgemental with great respect to patient's choices and needs. I moved to another country for a couple of years, came back and bought a new house very very far from Austell. My attempts of trying to find a dental office in Decatur and surrounding areas resulted in total frustration, mistreatment and huge overcharge. Not only for services provided but the ones not provided. Let the Dental Board of Georgia deal with it. i called Dr. Carroll's office. Only one person is there since good old times, others (not many, just an administrator and the hygienist, retired). I was greeted and treated by new stuff as if they knew me all these years. I immediately felt at home. And the issue which at Aspen dental and three more dental offices nobody wanted to deal was, MY dentist, Dr. Carroll, fixed in no time. The issue was at the beginning a loose tooth on a denture based on implants, then the tooth fell out. Oh, yeah, I was accepted by those so called dental offices and their "professionals" could not even identify what was wrong with the tooth (until it fell out:), but charged me big time (insurance has its limits, you know). Just now wrote a $266 to the Aspen Dental... for nothing. Anyway, my tooth is back in! Which is wow. My insurance, tadadadam was charged just $120. I talked with Dr. Carroll about a new denture, mentioned that I can have one done in a different country for a very reasonable price. Let me share the reaction of Dr. Carroll, he said "Go for it". It was me who started complaining about "what ifs" ( the denture with lost tooth was completed in that country). You know what Dr. Carroll said?! Not to worry, just ask the foreign dentist to provide all the information on materials they were to use. Can you believe THAT?! I heard from many American dentist very nasty comments about the dentists from other countries. Not here. High professionalism, total support of the patient. The best, really the very best esthetic dentist ever! Dr. Carroll, I love you, I appreciate you, I have the greatest respect to you. And the way you train your administration team! Please be healthy, please be happy, please, please, please do not ever retire!
