After receiving a pretty bad customer service experience at another LA clothing store I went to John Varvatos and was able to be treated with great customer service and a huge selection of clothing and shoes options. Let me state that this is not a discount store. The prices can be and are, at times, a little high but the quality has always been good and the clothes are built well. I have been to this location on several occasions and have never experienced bad service. I like their variety and attention to detail. Once I went into the changing room I was asked if I wanted a water, wine or beer and I thought that was great. I enjoy shopping here and will do so again in the future. Cheers. read more

I purchased a pair of John Varvatos Reed Low Top sneakers from NM website for my boyfriend in Feb 2019. My boyfriend didn't wear them until recently. After only five times of wear, he was so shocked to find out that the back-of-shoe cushion collar (the padding around Achilles) of one of the shoes not only totally lost it's shape, but also moved down to the heel, and it makes it impossible for him to walk in this pair of shoes again. I spent almost $400 for that pair of shoes, and they last for only 5 times of wear? This is a defective merchandise for sure. A refund or store credit should be a reasonable request. I emailed their customer service with a picture showing the detail of the defective shoe, but got a simple answer that my order exceeded the 30 day return policy, so they cannot issue me a refund. And my boyfriend also contact John Varvatos's customer service, and they told us it's not their problem and we should contact NM. But hello, NM is your reseller. At the end of the day, the brand itself should be responsible for the product they sell. Even though it exceeded the return window, it doesn't change the fact that it's a pair of defective shoes. If you want to be the best looking guy at the party, this is where you need to shop (or, if you're lucky, have some special girl shop for you). Varvatos is the king of cool. If Steve McQueen was around today, this would be his brand. These clothes are legit panty-droppers. (Trust me.) Most clothes come in solids or conservative patterns, which is not to say it's conservative. It's hip as F&%k but still timelessly cool. Suits will cost you a pretty penny as will most items. Dress shirts hang out at about $300 but you'll never look better or feel more sharp and the ladies (or gents) will know you're not playing around when it comes to style. He's obviously inspired by rock icons and brought a hip musical sensibility with him when he entered the fashion game. The Robertson store is evidence of this--cool artwork on the walls, mostly concert shots from legendary photographers (for sale) and they also sell a handful of rock books as well. The staff is awesome and helpful. They'll give you water if you're thirsty (flat or sparkling) because they know you're about to drop serious cash and that can occasionally cause dry-mouth, hyperventilating and very rarely death. Take the water. It will soften the blow when you get the bill. They sell everything from suits, ties and dress shirts to casual (still upscale) clothes and even have a partner line with Converse for the younger-skewing: John Varvatos Star USA. They sell accessories to go with everything as well. I've had things shipped to NYC for special occasions that were being celebrated over there (when I didn't feel like packing giant {but beautifully wrapped} gift boxes) and they'll custom tailor as well. This store is top notch. Parking is free and easy because they have their own little parking lot. So you have that going for you. Which is nice. read more

Staff are super friendly and accommodating. The two managers will bend over backwards to provide excellent customer service, and the clothes are fucking phenomenal. Designers usually cut for tall and slender, so athletic builds like mine usually get left behind. JV fits me off the rack. He doesn't exclude men with shoulders, pecs and arm; and somehow manages to keep the fitted look. It's super expensive, which is the only down-side, but if you're on a cheaper budget, there are other brands that will suffice. Its also a very dangerous store to go to. Everything looks amazing, and every trip ends up costing! Last time is was in there $5K found its way onto my Amex...and I went in for one jacket. That said, the stuff is timeless and great quality. This is specific to one of the sales reps - Scott. There were two items I initially found on the website which were unavailable re the size. I live closer to the OC location, so I called the local JV store at SC Plaza - a quick look-up of the item concluded that there was no existing inventory in their store. Call lasted 10 minutes - the majority of that call was me having the repeat the style # because admittedly, the sales rep was not accustomed to using regularly. No problem. Before I decided to call it off - I went ahead and tried to only other JV location - in Melrose. That's when I spoke with Scott. I was expecting similar experience, at best they would have the item(s); but to my surprise and beyond expectation, Scott, after nothing that his store too was sold out of the item(s); he would be happy to take down my # and call me if he were to find any other success in other JV locations. Within 10 minutes, Scott promptly returned my call - found the items and appropriate sizes in the Las Vegas location - and coordinated to have it shipped directly to my address. I had a poor online experience. Customer service is very slow to respond and very impersonal. The sizes are unreliable and I returned one item, a week later I haven't received a confirmation or the store credit. For the prices they charge you can shop other mid or upper level fashion brands and it's a very good chance you're be better off, at least with the online experience. For example, you'll be better off buying a Ferragamo scarf rather than a J Varvatos scarf for a few dollars more. read more

This store Rocks! I really like John Varvatos, his design is a little understated with a rocker twist and classic at the same time. When he left Calvin Klein about 5-7 years ago he just came unleashed from the hem with an awesome style. I really love his Converse line too. His clothes feel so light and comfortable that I have changed the way I dress making me feel like a stylish guy that can wear very cool items with out drawing attention to me. The price is heavy on the threads, but well worth it! Oh and the shoes are so comfortable. The sales team was very sweet and not pushy willing to help. read more

I went here with my brother a few weeks ago to find him a new pair of shoes. He bought a blue-grey pair of boat shoes and he's very happy with his purchase, saying that the shoes are very comfortable. The store is expensive but it is high quality so thats kind of to be expected. But my favorite part- The staff! Two guys were working and they were amazing. Super nice, friendly and helpful. From 'fan' to 'never again.' Simply put, the worst customer experience in recent memory. Trying to return something there was almost impossible. My girlfriend bought me a pair of shoes about a week before giving them to me for my birthday. Didn't fit, so I planned on going back to the store for a refund or exchange the following weekend. when I arrive I learn that the autocratic management's return policy is: no refund after 10 days. So within hours of receiving them as a gift the return option expired! Ok, I think to myself, I like the clothes, I'll go and get store credit, right? After trying on everything I was interested in and finding nothing, I ask for store credit so I can come back later (fall season maybe?) and I'm denied. I must use the store credit THAT DAY I'm told. My only 2 options were to walk out then with shoes that didn't fit, or buy clothes I didn't want... I finally force myself to try on a pair of shoes - nothing I really love. When I point out that the pair I'm trying on is used, and I mean REALLY used, with blister in the leather from a water stain, and scuffs everywhere including deep wear in the sole that come only from walking on concrete sidewalks, I'm told that is 'normal, from people trying them on in the store'...obviously not true. The rigidity of their policies is a real weakness and has just turned a loyal customer off forever. Not recommended. read more
