Our neighbors referred us to John White's Plumbing and Rooter Connection (saying that they had been using them for many, many years). We hired them to do an investigation of a bathroom leak that other plumbers had not resolved. John sent out his Foreman, Luis, and the Head Plumber. These gentlemen were highly professional, friendly, polite, treated me with respect, listened to my history of the issues (and didn't discount me because I'm an older woman), answered my many questions, and explained everything. The didn't take the first possibility or answer....they thought outside of the box and they checked everything. They not only found the slow leak and repaired it, they found three additional small leaks coming from the roof, and the fee was more than reasonable! PREDATORY PRICING AND PRACTICES!!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! I am remodeling my bathroom and called John White to have them install a p-trap and shower faucet. Normal rate is $125 hr. When the plumber arrived he arrived with a partner and no one told me when I booked the appt. 2 people would mean $200 hr. I was also not provided a quote before work was started which was not an issue since I knew the rate. Had I known I would be charged $200 hr I would have cancelled. Once here the plumber recommended I adjust the faucet height and let them install the tub which my contractor planned to do. Again, at $125 I had no issue, but there is no way I would have approved the additional work which did not require 2 people had I been told. I was just charged $700 for 3 hrs of work. Please beware of this company and shop around. I believe strongly this is a predatory practice and pricing model and a licensed insured plumber can be found who only charges $100 or so an hour even if they have help. I did call the company to try to resolve this with the owner and he was unwilling to help, said pricing stands. So my review stands and I will encourage my neighbors to look elsewhere for plumbing needs. Strongly encourage you to do the same. read more

Called yesterday to make an appointment to unclog a leaky sink. Made one easily for 10am-12pm today. Israel arrived at 10:15am, and was gone 15 minutes later, sink unclogged and left nicely cleaned, $95. One of the biggest scams and worst customer service I have come across in a very long time. Our condo that we own but don't live in and rent out had plumbing issues, and we thought it was a building issue over an individual issue. The management company sent John's guy out (who was actually great) but instead of assessing that it was in fact MY issue, he went ahead and did the job without telling me or giving me a quote. It took him 20 minutes and he fixed the plug. I then receive a bill from John White's company for almost 200$. He charged me 1.5 hours of travel time and we live in the middle of Hollywood. This was done in September and he called me mid-February to collect. Case in point on his level of professionalism. I mean common man! Icing on the cake, he was as aggressive, rude and demanding...not to mention super insulting and prying into my life WAY too much. I digress. I paid the fool for the time the guy was actually working in my unit, and for the parts - because that's the right thing to do. He can eat the travel time because that is just plain ridiculous. I would have got my regular guy to come in had I had known it was in fact my issue, and that they charge more for travel time then actually working. They're not uber or a driving service for God sake! How he can get away with this and conduct himself this way yet still be in business is beyond me. The fact I'm spending more head space or energy on this is a waste of time; however people should steer clear of this dude. Seriously. read more

Absolutely dishonest. My realtor hired this company to do a sewer inspection for my buyer while in escrow. They came out and immediately found a reason to do additional work and charge more. I paid it out of necessity and expediency. Then, guess what, after doing that work they found another reason to add additional work and charge more. They sent my realtor a quote for over $8000.00. When I complained, my realtor called and was told the office girls made a mistake. Then the quote mysteriously went to $4600.00. When I called I was given an explanation that made no sense what so ever. I checked with my long time general contractor about their explanation and was told exactly what I thought, which is it made no sense at all and they were padding the bill. BEWARE!! read more

THESE GUYS ARE PROS!!! VERY CLEAN, FAST, AND THOROUGH!!! They came out to clear my shower and toilet that were backed up. They came out and cleared the stoppage very quickly and when he was done he even hosed down the area around the clean out and rinsed the messy water down the drain from the backed up shower. He worked quickly, was clean, friendly, and showed up on time; what more can you ask for? read more

These guys are terrible. They were supposed to arrive at 10am; at 10:12 I called the office and spoke to Robert to ask about ETA (this was after they never even confirmed the appointment day before, and I also live only a few miles from them). The dispatch guy put me on hold to supposedly check with the driver and said that he would be at my place "momentarily". Since this was on a work day, I asked what time frame that meant since he was already 15 min late now. 5 minutes? 15 minutes? I was put on hold again and then told that the driver was not responding to them but that he'd been dispatched. When I asked what ETA the driver had given him the first time i was put on hold, he admitted that he'd never even spoken to the driver so that he was making time frames up. I said that i'd wait 10 more minutes then leave for work. No one ever came. Horrible customer service. read more

They quote a different price on the phone in order to get the business. They come to the house and ask for twice the price quoted. They have us sign a contract that there is no guarantee. The guys that came to the house were nice enough, but the company has no regard for their customes. We had roots too big for their first maching, and so instead of using a camera first, they charged the full fee for an INCOMPLETE job just to try to charge me another 500 for their Hydrojet to come out. You would at least expect them to give you a discount or pay half price since they guaranteed they could complete the job for the first estimate. I DO NOT RECOMMED. read more

Had a sudden drain problem on a weekend, our usual plumber was unavailable. We called the John White Rooter Connection based on the recommendation of a friend of ours who uses them for his property management business. Turns out we were outside their service area, but they found someone willing to show up anyway. He did a great job, going through the drains a few times to make sure everything was cleared up, and was very friendly and helpful. Hope never to need their services again, but if we do, we know who to call. read more

I literally cannot say enough nice things about this company. Everyone is helpful, honest and knows what they are doing. John called me himself to discuss the nightmare that took place at my home in the middle of the night. He promised they would come, they called because they were late, and they showed up as promised. His team came out, handled everything amazingly and even cleaned up! They are kind and friendly which really helps when you have stressful sewage issues. They are very reasonably priced. John White Rooter Connection is the real deal when it comes to an honest evaluation of a main line blockage. I have used the company 3 times in the past two years. I had had a bad experience with a few other companies who tried to convince me that I needed to replace my main line - including one "bogus" video showing how "bad" my mainline was. John White did the same video and reassured me that what I was seeing was normal for sewage pipes that were nearly 80 years old and not in need of replacing, but of a good cleaning. He was right. I have not had major problems since they have been servicing them. I would use this company again. read more

I am skeptical about repair people in general, but John White is the real deal. A straight-shooter who once spent a good deal of time on the phone with me even though I had a different plumber at the time. I didn't think of him when I had a main line blockage, so called a different rooter company who came out quickly but, $125 later, couldn't clear the line due to what the guy said was a broken pipe, and predicted that it would be a 5-figure job to break open the sidewalk and possibly street to replace the pipes. He was going to send a video team the following day to identify where the breakage was, and then give me an estimate. When he said that no, I wouldn't be able to share their video with other bidders, I called John. He said (and another contractor confirmed this) that there are a lot of rogue plumbers out there, up-selling whenever they can. He sent out a hydrorooter team the next morning--with both a camera and a hydro-whatever it is they do--and they cleared it for $525 total! Next time John White will be my first and only call. read more

I've been calling on John White's Rooter Connection for over ten years to clear the roots out of the main outside drain as well as to clean the washing machine drain. I recommend this company very highly. Always professional, neat, on time, pleasant and friendly. They do a FAR better job than average, running the rooters at least twice through the drains to insure a thorough cleaning and free-flowing drains for a long, long time. I used to hire this firm to do sewer line videos in the real estate business: This place is a factory and it's a numbers game; all bottom line oriented. I stopped because they overcharged my clients any time the job deviated a bit from the norm -- a lot of money extra. I learned that competitors were charging much less, and were more transparent and equally competent, less rushed and had as much experience. A month ago, I thought I'd give them another chance at the behest of a friend who used this vendor for general plumbing. big mistake. A plumber came to my house: I ordered 2 simple parts, and a month has gone by and the vendor is MIA: no calls, and calls and email are not returned as promised. Very disappointing. I've now wasted a month waiting for parts that I could have ordered myself and had anyone install....Very frustrating experience, now the same poor service, after years' hiatus. read more

One of the worst experiences I have ever had with a company. POINT BLANK. I never report bad service but this time it had to be done. They charged me 370 dollars for sitting in my drive way for an hour when they had been provided gate codes. Tweedle Dee just needed to ring the buzzer or alternatively put in the code but he sat there letting the meter rack up time. In the end, there was no work done except that he turned off the water to the house. The man did not fix the leak, which was repaired the day after by a different company and turned around and charged 370 dollars. I called repeatedly to discuss this, and the price billed to me which I thought absolutely inflated and ridiculous but alas, NO RESPONSE from the owner after many messages left. Fast forward, they sent my information to the creditors without a courtesy call to discuss this massive bill for absolutely nothing! UNREAL. I had to pay the bill to avoid spending a day in small claims court which I would win after showing the work was completed by someone else but would it be worth an entire day of my life????!
