I love this office. I would highly recommend anybody going to it. They're wonderful the lady that cleans my teeth is cautious of how I feel. If I'm doing okay, which is great because I have vertigo so she's always concerned and making sure that I'm comfortable. As for Dr. Zhang, he's very thorough. I would not come here again. I chose this office specifically because of the 4.9 rating on Yelp, but unfortunately, my experience was far from that level of quality. Front Desk & Organization: I had my first appointment here, which I verified over the phone beforehand. However, when I arrived, I was told I didn't have an appointment and they didn't have my insurance information (which I had already provided). The front desk worker, Sheila (I believe), was very cold and rude. Even after I showed phone receipts proving I had called to book, I never received an apology. The Consultation & Cleaning: They were able to squeeze me in after a 30-minute wait, which I initially appreciated. However, the entire visit felt extremely rushed. I would have preferred they simply be honest about not having time rather than rushing through my consultation and cleaning. * Lack of Communication: The dentist started cleaning my teeth without warning or explanation. When I asked what was happening, Sheila interrupted to say she had "told me" it might happen. A patient should always be fully aware of what is being done. * Poor Technique: This is the first time in my life a dentist did not floss under my braces with a threader or offer mouthwash/fluoride. * Missed Diagnosis: I requested my X-rays be emailed to me and saw a different dentist two days later. That dentist immediately identified a cavity on the exact same X-rays that Dr. John had looked at without saying a word to me. Cleanliness The office was extremely messy. I walked by the kitchen area, and based on the lack of cleanliness I saw there, I do not feel comfortable returning to a medical environment like this. Summary * Cleanliness: 0/5 * Customer Service: 1/5 The dentist himself was friendly, but the lack of communication, organization, and clinical thoroughness is a major red flag. read more

I have been to dentists, like most people, throughout my life. After each appointment with each past dentist, I vowed never to return. All of these former dentists seem to never listen to the patient's experience (and some seem to offer you services which you clearly don't need.) Because of these bad experiences with dentists, I have something of a phobia when going to them. So, when I arrived at Dr. John Zhang's office, I had no reason to believe that anything would be different from my past experience. I was totally wrong! This dentist is excellent, exceptional, and goes the extra mile to make sure you are fully satisfied with every part of the procedure-no hyperbole! For example, this dentist is a considerate and thoughtful practitioner, listens to my personal experience and areas of concern regarding my teeth and ensures that all my worries and concerns are addressed. Further, and impressively, Dr. Zhang lets you know in laymen's words what he is doing at each and every step of the dental procedure. Wow! When he finished extracting the infected wisdom tooth #16, he removed it so gingerly that, honestly, I never knew that he took it out until he showed me it! When I entered his practice, I was a new patient and hyper-skeptical of dentists. First off, let it be known I absolutely can not stand to go to the dentist since I was a child. I have been seeing Dr. Zhang for some years now and I have never been happier with anyone else. He is very gentle and explains everything in detail. He is never in a rush and when your appointment is scheduled for a certain time, that is exactly when he sees you. Here's the best part, every dentist I have ever seen, always found something wrong be it a cavity a root canal etc.. etc.. yet all the years I've been coming here I've had far and i mean far less problems and that equals to way less money coming out of my pocket! Sheila his front desk secretary is amazing and goes out of her way to help and always has such a great attitude. All his staff are so nice and professional. After switching to PPO, I switched based on a recommendation from my son's orthodontist, and I'm so glad I did. Took the wifey in this morning to get a cleaning and have wisdom teeth extracted, there was no wait time at all. Dr. Zhang applied the numbing medication, a 3-step process, firstly with a cotton swab and gel, then an injection with a light dose of numbing medicine and lastly a stronger dose of numbing medicine. While doctor's assistant Megan prepped for the procedure, after a bit Dr. Zhang went ahead with the cleaning, the cleaning took about half an hour. After inspecting the procedure site and confirming with the wifey whether or not she was numbed, Dr. Zhang and assistant Megan then proceeded with the wisdom teeth extraction, after extraction, site was cleaned, gel was applied, and sutured. Dr. Zhang advised and explained to-do's and don'ts and medication intake. Follow up appointment was made, the visit was professional, polite, painless and smooth. We even got to keep the teeth. I love my dentist and dental hygienist! This small office located in the Vons Shopping center on Baseline is cute and very clean. The staff goes out of their way to make sure I am comfortable during procedures and they are all very kind and very willing to educate you on dental care. As a Diabetic I am very grateful for their quality service. I get my teeth cleaned 4 times a year and the hygienist is excellent and very gentle. My teeth look amazing when she is done. Dr. Zhang is more than willing to go out of his way to explain procedures and treatments. WHile they dont really take my insurance they do offer me a discount on hygienist treatments because of my insurance. So happy I found them and they are on my permanent providers list! read more

Dr. Zhang and his team are amazing!! I came in for a cleaning and the extraction of three wisdom teeth. They were able to make my appointment in a timely manner, and Sheila was extremely helpful in confirming my insurance. I'm usually very nervous when it comes to the dentist, but Dr. Zhang made me feel extremely comfortable. I have a fear of shots, but his technique and bedside etiquette put me at ease. I didn't experience any pain because he was able to numb me in gradual steps. Mind you, this was my biggest worry- shots!!
