Fun place for drinks, a bite to eat and good music every night on the ave in Delray. There is always a crowd here. Mostly older and very noisey. Great place for people watching. Many walking by stop and hang out on the sidewalk to listen to the music. They accommodate motorcycle and golf cart parking. This establishment has been here a long time. It sits on the corner next to the railroad tracks. At one time a while back they were giving free shots when the train went by. The food is pretty good and moderately priced for this area. I really wanted to give you at least 3 stars but, your Dark & Stormy is not that good, and, what I can't forgive, your server is being lazy, sitting down, talking to another server. When we sit down, with our drinks, she tells us, in a not so friendly way, that unless we order food we needed to move. I think what she meant, but failed to say was, "may I get you a menu?". At all this, place is not full and no wait line. Yes, we moved from the table, and server goes back to sitting down and chatting with her coworker, and we are left with a disappointing experience. Two stars for at least offering Dark & Stormy drinks (you can't find them at every bar, so I always appreciate those who do), for the nice bartender, and for having a live band. Thank you for that. I have very mixed feelings about our afternoon at Johnnie Brown's... We stopped by after a Wednesday AM at the beach. We loved that they had an open-air patio and it wasn't crowded (likely due to our timing). Their drink specials/drinks were on point - there was a decent selection of beer and we enjoyed a Jameson shot with are Quaranteam family. The food was decent - typical bar food - our kids LOVED the coconut shrimp, I think we ended up getting a total of three orders. The adults enjoyed some wings- the Spicy Korean was the top hit among us. Our waitress on the other hand...she was a bit concerning. She leaned very close to talk, which didn't bother me too much until later she stopped by to tell us she was ending her shift early because she didn't feel right in the head...which made me wonder because of a Covid headache or because you're young and hung over?! It did start to get crowded as we left, but since we were on our way out, I can't attest to how crowded. All in all, it's definitely worth a stop. Check out the crowd and decide if you're comfortable enough to grab a table. And if you are, get some wings and some shrimp. read more

Johnie browns is definitely lit if you're a rock fan and are between the ages of 40-60 years old. Was for sure an older crowd, especially at night when they start blasting 70's rock. A lot of older bikers flock to this place. Eating out with the family after visiting the Pinball Museum down the street. My sons got a classic burger and a steakhouse burger. I got a draft Stella and a blackened chicken burger. Service was fast and friendly. We sat "inside" which is really vague as it's an open air restaurant/bar. Food was delivered fast (it was 3PM at the time) and it all tasted great. 3.5 stars. We stopped by for a drink because we loved the open concept. There were plenty of seats but it was super packed due to a football game being on. This is a Steeler's bar since they had Steeler's decor all over the place and the game was on so there were lots of fans there. The drinks were pretty affordable, I ordered a Floridian and a Blue Moon for about 12 bucks. The bartenders were friendly and served me quickly in a packed bar. This review was solely based on the drop in I did for about 15 minutes. I didn't order any food since we already ate. I found a mini bench/table to stand with my beer. What I didn't like was that almost everyone in there was smoking so my eyes were burning and chest was wheezing from all that smoke. Would I go back? Avoid this place at all costs. The kitchen is filthy, the management is terrible (They had the worst grumpy bar manager years ago, Cuddy, who treated the employees like dirt). The bartenders are dishonest and will put other people's drinks on your tab! They treat their "regulars" great but otherwise they treat customers and employees like dirt. read more

The food was terrible and over priced. Four shrimp was over $10. We figured it would be yummy but it tastes plain. Wings are terrible!! Tasted like it was microwaved and slightly dipped in sauce. I absolutely love this place and I know it's not going to go out of business with this review but none of the staff is friendly nor do they ever smile, EVER. It's like they are on this power trip or something because they are 25 years old and can tell you what to do. However the reason for writing this is due to the bartender with the dreads. He is a rude you know what...and he over charges and it's all different prices every time I go in. I'm a loyal customer and I go there a lot as I'm friends with a lot of the bands that play there but the staff leaves little to be desired. If you don't like your job in customer service you shouldn't be in customer service. read more

I'm usually free Tuesdays so that's when I come, but I've been twice on a Tuesday now and the entertainment SUCKS. This staggering drunk artist gets on the stage, attacks his audience, makes obnoxious jokes and complains about his job before he starts his songs. There's no competition for live entertainment in the street so I guess they don't have to try too hard, but I didn't like the environment once the music started. I've heard other nights are way better, but avoid Tuesday's if you can. read more

For a "biker" bar, this is a great choice. We arrive via bike on a busy Saturday afternoon during Delray Affair. Atlantic Ave was jammed with festival goers so we were lucky to find a bike spot which is usually the only way to park. Johnnie Brown's was packed and the wait for an indoor table was longer than we wanted so we opted for the patio. This was a great choice. There were only a few open air tables which were perfect on this balmy afternoon. The waitress arrived a few minutes later and we knew we had to order while we had her. We placed our orders and were told it would take 45 minutes for the food. This sounded like a challenge so the timer was set. Imagine our pleasure when the food arrived 23 minutes later. Happy, happy, joy, joy.... Maria came to check on us several times and being that everything was done right the first time, we didn't have to take much of her time. The hummus was perfect and the tuna, a favorite, was exactly what we wanted. This was the perfect afternoon snack. If this was representative of the menu... everything is great. I'm not a "biker chick" (as the boyfriend would say) but I like this place and would come back. read more

It was above average but nothing that I can remember that was spectacular. Service was average, the server we had, she didnt seem to want to be there. BUT, she was quick and attentive. Food was good. Like I said, nothing amazing. It's Del Ray, you're going to overspend on food that is probably not worth the price you're paying for it. But, it's nice to be able to sit down on the patio, sip a few cold ones, enjoy the good company and some decent eats. Once you're done, head over to the vintage pinball museum that's back behind Johnnie's, brick building. HIDDEN GEM. Seriously, check it once you've finished up! We went here a couple times one Saturday night, and you honestly step in there and it's like a time machine that takes you back to the 90s and on the beach, well except the drink prices, those were still Delray 2016.... It's girls night out and Johnnie Browns was one of our stops for a "Dark and Stormy", our drink of the night. Let me just tell you now that we were so disappointed with Johnnie Browns. We ordered our drinks at the bar and decided to sit at one of the tables to listen to the band play. Most of the tables were empty and there was no hostess so we just chose one away from the band kinda near the back. First problem was they made the drink way too strong so they didn't taste the way they should. The second problem began once we were at our table. A server came to us and in a really rude way told us we can't sit at a table unless we order food. Need we point out that the place was not that busy because it's a rainy night and you have a live band and most the tables are empty; at least let us have drinks there; it's better than leaving the table empty and you'd still make tip money. Ironically she never even offered us a menu. Coincidently one of the pictures posted on Yelp is of the stage area and it shows the band playing with ALL the tables in front of them empty. But tonight at 11:15 pm I was insulted at this bar for dancing LA BAMBA on a yellow line they have at the front door painted on the floor that I did not even realized it was there! I was dancing and the manager goes very rudely by me and screams in my ear "shake your shit out of my front door!" I did not even realized that he was referring to me! The Mom! drinking water with her friend trying to have a fun time out with no kids nor husband! Was not even drinking I WAS DRINKING WATER! So! My friend said to me that he was really rude to me and did not even know why!!? So... I looked down at the floor and I realized that there was a yellow line saying "keep this are clear" so I laughed! and made the joke to dance in it just to be funny! And the security guard comes and says to my ear "keep the playing around oand you will be kicked out!" So I looked at him and I said... " I will not be kicked out because I dont want to be here anymore! but first let me take a picture of your yellow line!" And he yelled to me "get the fuck out"! So I tood the picture calmly and start walking out with my plastic cup of water on hand and the same security guard goes on my face and says "not with the drink!" To which i reply well!... It is only water and then he screams on my FACE! GET THE FUCK OUT!! Sooooo this is just the worst place you can go to if you want to have fun!! DONT GO THERE! There are a lot more nice and loved filled places in DELRAY!! read more

Awesome time! Stopped by here for dinner with some friends before going to play mini golf. The servers were excellent! Drinks flowing, apps came out great. Food was delicious - I ordered the swordfish sandwich. My husband ordered the bbq platter and his first bite and all the meat was cold. It was really disappointing because it looked so delicious! It was strange it came out separate, and about 15 min after everyone else got their food, I'm thinking they forgot about it.
