I only review nachos. At a rock bar. For $10.95. And honestly? Not bad. The chili is the real deal -- well seasoned, properly cooked, carries the whole plate. The cheese sauce works with it instead of fighting it. The scallions actually added something, which in South Florida is rarer than you'd think. And they served the sour cream and pico on the SIDE, which is smarter than most restaurants twice the price have figured out. The Fork Rule was violated. But when you put chili and cheese sauce on chips without layering, physics wins every time. That's fixable. Layer it, add more chips, and this nacho moves up significantly. At $10.95 after a good night out with the music loud and a cold beer in hand? These nachos are exactly what you need. Not trying to be anything they're not. 6 out of 10. Classic dark respite from Florida's sun and endless Tiki bar scene. By 2:00 the place was hopping with very polite regulars and staffed with one of the most efficient and hard working bartenders I've ever seen. I started to worry because the Bar was packed and the bartender was also handling the tables. I didn't need to worry. She was the best! Kept me stocked with ice cold beer. The menu is limited to bar food but it is done very well. I had a burger that was very tasty and done perfectly. My wife has a French dip sandwich that she said was delicious. What's not to love about Elmo's bar and grill? Sarcasm intended. This was my first and last time here, as my food was cheap and gross. I got the pretzels and cheese as an appetizer, which was very obviously just SuperPretzel and microwaved cheese. The blasting fan above me did not help with the consistency of the cheese, which quickly turned into a solid and no longer stuck to my pretzel. I didn't have high hopes for my entree, and when I finally received my Philly cheesesteak, I was met with two "melted" slices of cheddar cheese slapped on top. Yes, the same cheddar cheese that hardened with my pretzels. Much to my dismay, I was only able to handle about two bites of my cheesesteak before I lost my appetite and could not finish. I tried to eat my fries which tasted like fryer grease, and then I went outside to get some fresh air, just to be met with the smell of cigarettes as all of the employees were outside smoking. I thought maybe the bathroom was the next best option, to which I was met with a urinal stripped off the wall, with dirty toilet paper covering the open pipes. Cannot comment on the food. We came here after I found this place to have karaoke on a Wednesday night and it was nearby. My dad shuttled me and my sister our for drinks and fun. Oh boy was it fun! The stage setup is cool and makes for a great show. The KJ was really nice and you knew where you were in the rotation from the scroll on the monitors. The bartender was a nice lady that kept us hydrated and served. It's been a long time since I grabbed a mic and I was a little nervous, in this age of Covid and all, but the KJ sanitized the mics with wipes each time anyone handled them! That was so appreciated. I gave him a tip in the jar on his stand. After a song or two, a guy with red topped hair asked if I would do a bit with him. It was hilarious. He sang Arms on the Angels while I deadpanned his cue cards for the Sarah McLachlan ASPCA commercial. The place was rolling with laughter. Great crowd. Everyone was welcoming and there was some great talent in there. We had an amazing night hanging out. Pool table in the back. Large place that great for groups. Super reasonable drink prices. My sis and I had vodka crans and Coronas for hours and still under $50. read more

it is no longer a smoking bar. They are open until 5 AM. two great pool tables, fabulous menu. The staff is amazing. Ashley brittney Alex, Marie, and the others take care of everybody like family. Live music, karaoke, and popular djs make it run. they even run live free texas holdem poker tournaments every Wednesday and Sunday starting at 7 PM the most important part is the staff is very protective of women. And I used to hate when people would say that bc times change, right? Industry people can't stand that sentence, but here we are. That's how upset I was by this place. Last night we went to Elmo's late late for one of our friends birthdays. I don't have many expectations at 2:30 in the morning. You're getting staff that's been cranking all night and probably just want to go home...but I digress. We walked in, ordered a round of shots and drinks...7 of us so a size-able tab just to start. Not the friendliest staff, but hey it's 2:30 in the morning, I'd hate my life too, but you chose to work here, right? So maybe be nicer to people that actually want to spend money. Night proceeds, everyone is having an great time even with the lackluster "talent" hired for the evening. A couple of girls chat us up, and mention they had requested a song from the DJ however they said the DJ wouldn't play the song for them. Now running Rocco's I get it, there are times to say no. I feel that whole heartedly. But I also know what the words "customer service" and "read the room" mean and how bars should be operated to handle a basic request. In my opinion, while looking around a half full bar with literally no one dancing bc the music was dreadful...I walked over to play nice and see if I could request the same song that this group of girls requested. After a short exchange, the dj kind of brushed me off. I figured since I didn't offer a tip, I might've done the same. So I closed my bar tab, just to get cash from the ATM and offered to tip the gentleman $20 to play 1 song that the majority of the bar top wanted to hear. His response "we don't need your money, I'm good, I'll play what I want". The bartender even took it upon herself to ask the dj to play the same request. I've been out of the game awhile but....you have MULTIPLE guests and even staff requesting something....and you decline bc...why? Your job as a DJ is to entertain...take a look at this video...after this joke pissed everyone off, people basically cleared what was an almost full bar. This isn't a bash session on Elmo's, it's a great place, for what it is. A fun late night spot. Unfortunately the incredible lack of talent in the DJ booth was an absolute joke. He was rude to me, the girls, the bartender...for what? A performance I could've played on my phone deaf and blindfolded. Nothing original, transitions were trash, and oh, doesn't take requests...? At that point, why have a DJ? You had a juke box right behind him. I'd have dropped enough money into that machine covering more than that dipshits fee and I'm only 1 person. This is a plea to the owner to please pick better talent. You just drove off 3 large groups that were all wanting to spend more money...isn't that the goal? To make money...Your DJ didn't seem to think so. At minimum, give them some direction on how to speak to guests. Heck even if he didn't want to play the song, "I'm so sorry, I don't have that song" would go a long way. read more

We have been there many times before but this night not overly busy got a bartender/waitress not very pleasant. Ordered the mildest of mild chicken wings to go with the onion rings. Tried wings before leaving just in case and way too spicy. Brought to attention of blonde bartender she talk to cook. He said he would make the whole order over. He said he didn't want the order back. Went back for corrected order only wings no new hot onion rings as promised. Bartender walks over and when I explained the situation she said that is all the free food you are getting. I told her what the cook said and she said I'm too busy to keep talking to you i have work to do. Although saw her outside for quite a few cigarette breaks. A great burger hiding in a bar in Boynton! Upon recommendation (and not being bar people) we made our way to Elmo's for a Thursday night burger and fries. Hand cut fresh fries, similar to 5guys style, yummy. The cowboy and Texas burger, a combo of 3 meats, were both cooked perfectly. Elmo's is a local bar with live music, friendly staff and very attentive. It should be noted that it is a smoking bar and even though it wasn't busy you could smell the heavy odor. Don't allow the location to turn you away. The food is awesome and the most wonderful waitress works here, Marie. It's like walking into an episode in Cheers. The wings are huge and awesome, the Philly steak is great and their shrimp salad is the best. From the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave Elmo's, you're going to be smelling and breathing in cigarette smoke. When you leave, you won't have to breathe in the smoke any longer, but the smell will stay with you until you get home, put your clothes in the washing machine, and shower. I don't smoke and I dislike the smell of cigarette smoke, yet you'll find me in Elmo's at least a couple of times a month. Why would I go so often, take the time to write a review, and give the place five stars? The cheeseburgers. They're that good. In my opinion, the best cheeseburgers in Boynton Beach, and better than any I've had so far in Lantana to the north or Delray Beach to the south. Nothing overly fancy, mind you, but always tasty, cooked just right, and generously portioned with a side of fresh fries. If you're in the area, in the mood for a burger, and can deal with the cigarette smoke, I highly recommend Elmo's Rock Bar and Grill. read more

5 Stars.. Although We don't come here as much as we used to, we always have a blast! We have friends drive down from Tallahassee every New Years Eve just so we can all come here to celebrate. There is always a great band, the bartenders are amazing, the drinks are strong and fairly priced and all the regulars are cool as hell! As soon as we arrived NYE this year, Brittney dropped what she was doing, found us a table and drinks arrived in about 2 minutes. Even when she was busy, she would see me coming up to the bar and I didn't even have to say anything, she nodded and drinks were there. I must say, above all else, the service at Elmo's is Awesome. All of the staff members are friendly, fun and offer insightful recommendations. Before I get ahead of myself, let me just point out that this is a Bar. Yes it has food, but it is a bar to begin with. A smoking one at that. A bit more ventilation for the smoke would leave me feeling better when I leave, but again, it's a bar and I know what I'm getting into before I go. Elmo's has some fun video games, a nice billiards area and there's Always someone interesting, employee or patron, to chat with at the bar. They also have fun events on different nights of the week like BINGO! The live music is also great, I just wish it started earlier! You'll find Elmo's tucked in next to Goodwill and behind the Movie Theater at the corner of Military and Old Boynton.. If you happen to be driving down Boynton Beach Ave, you can turn into the complex with the Walmart Neighborhood market and get to it that way. Elmo's is a hidden little gem, right around the corner from all the shopping frenzy.. Great place for a great time! Any night of the week, there always seems to be something fun going on. I came in on a Wednesday night, and they had an open jam night for anyone brave enough to go up and play. It's so much fun! Not to mention they have amazing food! They have a chicken quesadilla that will fill anyone. And they also have FRESH CUT, NEVER FROZEN FRENCH FRIES that they make every day. A) Everyone should have something to eat when they are drinking and B) Who doesn't love a good Chicken Sandwich or Delicious Greasy Burger with some French Fries? Elmo's doesn't disappoint. I've been to Elmo's about 4 times now and they have consistently brought good service to my stool or table. The bartender knows how to check back, the cook knows how to cook and the drinks are reasonably priced. Their Karaoke Night on Tuesdays is a well put on show with some very talented patrons that frequent the event. The Karaoke D.J., "Karaoke with Alex" has an amazing song selection and the patrons really know how to get down. Someone actually broke out some Ludacris.
