Since my experience years ago I have appreciated the consistency of this restaurant. Food is good for takeout.

I've been here with my husband a couple of times and it's pretty good. Definitely better than Olive Garden. I know that isn't difficult, but it is what it is. A friend had recommended this to me the first time we tried it. I trust his opinion and he's never let me down yet, so I had fairly high expectations going in. Our service was easily the most impressive part of it. Our waitress clearly knew what she was doing and easily answered all of our questions, really seemed to enjoy her job, knew the menu and was fast and efficient. She refilled drinks quickly, made wine recommendations, ect. Our food was good. My husband had the lemon rosemary chicken and I have to admit, I tried it and it was pretty decent. I had the chicken milano, which is always a favorite of mine. Dessert is easily my favorite part of this restaurant. The lemon cream cake is positively amazing. It's this creamy deliciousness on a plate. The tiramisu isn't far behind. I would go in just to pick up desserts and take them home. read more

They catered our wedding and did a wonderful job from start to finish and everything they said they would do they did. The food was a hit and it took a lot of stress off us on our big day. This is now a year and a half later and we decided to start eating inside the restaurants now so we came back over to Carino's to see how things are vs. the outside disappointment we had before. The food is still good and the waiter (Justin) was incredibly attentive and helpful. I have always thought the prices are a little high when the meal is primarily pasta, but the portions were good and the bread is always tasty and they are quick to bring more. I think the ambiance would have been much improved simply by switching the soft rock background music to Italian music or at least something more classical. Overall, it still felt like a chain restaurant with a reasonable attempt to give the inside some character. Turn down the lights a little and soften the music and it would be a much better experience. read more

This visit I was sadly dissatisfied, not only did our family wait close to an hour just to receive our meal but it came scattered. Our waitress was nice and friendly but the food I received was some of the blandest food I've ever eaten it tasted worse than a microwave meal. I got a grilled chicken parmigiana I took a few bites and I was like where is the flavor?... took a few more bites thinking I must be tripping but still tasted so bland. So I added salt and pepper and it still tasted terrible. I have only eaten here twice but the first experience was better than this. :( I'm not one for complaints but I had to give my food back when I am truly hungry and say something to our waitress, I mean they ended up taking the chicken parmigiana off our final bill. Carino's, an Italian restaurant within the heart of Albany, was recommended to my partner and I from a friend. The menu gives lots of choices, and most meals come with a starter salad. The food was fine. It was fine. But the bread! The bread was immaculate! Where it lacks in upfront flavor, it's made up for by the warm buttery melt-in-your mouth texture. we were seated quickly as we arrived around 5pm, the table next to us was not picked up for quite a while. Our wait staff was pleasant, took our beverage order that arrived quickly. Our starter bread was warm and delicious and served with olive oil with toasted garlic...yum! Our order was taken, and arrived quickly. My husband and I shared a meal of Johnny's chopped salad, and Chicken Penne with Gorgonzola. The portions were split, which was nice. Our salad arrived first and it was really very good. Then our pasta dish came. The waitstaff that delivered the meal made mention that we were given extra due to splitting our dish. I thought that was an odd side notation. Sadly our pasta dish was barely hot...very disappointing. It had good flavor, but the chicken portion couldn't have been more than 4 ounces, if that. We dined here on a Monday to take advantage of the half off family platters special. We over estimated what we needed to order. We ordered 3 family platters to feed our family of five. Huge portions, and we left with 3 full boxes of leftovers. Husband ordered a drink from the bar, and we all shared the raspberry tiramisu. Bummed out about our Carinos experience. We frequented a Carinos often in another state and decided to go to this Carinos on a very special anniversary. The restaurant was clean and well lit. The waitress was good though I had to ask for my drink and bread to be refilled. They played music and I don't understand why they decided to have county music playing in an Italian restaurant. The reason for the low rating is because of the food. We ordered Italian nachos with sausage, chicken marsala, and the sausage skilletini. The Italian nachos were so loaded with jalapeño peppers you couldn't taste anything else. The chicken Marsala's sauce was dreadful. It was bland and didn't taste good on the pallet. It almost tasted "old", if that was a taste. that dish was my go to at a different Carinos. The skilletini wasn't mixed well and there was very little sauce. Part of it was just noodles. I left with over 3/4 of my dish left. I couldn't even take it home. To say we will not be back is an understatement. We were so disappointed. read more

Not bad for an Italian restaurant in a small town like Albany. The service was excellent. Out waitress was very attentive and our food came out fast. The food portions were huge and our waitress informed us just to get the family size platters of our pastas instead of the regular menu portions because the family size platters where half off on Mondays. So we basically got more than double our portions for the same price of the regular platters. We have tons of leftovers for a couple of days! I would definitely recommend the spicy chicken and shrimp pasta! It was delish with the right amount of spice! read more

First time here and the host was rude. Told him my name & that I was there for an online order, he just walked away. It seemed like he was checking on my order but he came back 5 minutes later and never even spoke with me. Another guy came a minute later and asked if he could help me. He was fine but when my order was brought out it had no cutlery, they forgot my $5 drink and portion size was more so 1/4 of a sandwich, not a half. Will probably never eat here again and if it wasn't for the service and them trying to make it right it would be a 1 Star. The first time I ate here was when it first opened, my pizza was somehow burnt and soggy, the pasta was just okay. This time my girlfriend's fried calamari was served cold and for some reason my calzone had tomato sauce served on the inside and then was told that was normal. I've never been served a calzone that has had pizza sauce or marinara inside before and it just made it soggy. I'm not a fan of tomato based sauces and it was specifically why I ordered a calzone. The only redeeming quality was that we were able to get the calamari taken off and we given a free dessert but that's not enough to make me want to go back. read more

It's not my normal instinct to stop and (attempt) to eat at chain style restaurants, but a friend and I decided we were too famished to continue home to Corvallis after our Target trip and the parking lot was packed so we assumed Carino's would be a good choice. It wasn't. I told myself I could at least get a house salad with oil & vinegar if they didn't have any other options. But it's an italian restruant, they must have pastas, olive oil and fresh veggie's they'd be able to toss together in a delicious meal, right? Nope. After perusing the menu and realizing they didn't even have any decent vegetarian options (save for a bowl of pasta with tomato sauce for $11.50), I spoke to my server about talking to the kitchen about preparing some pasta with "olive oil and like... mushrooms or something". I went into depth about my "allergy" to dairy products and she said they could come up with something and sent out my house salad to start the meal. It was covered in parmesan cheese and buttery croutons-- I skipped the salad. Minutes before the meal came out my server came to tell me what I was getting. A bowl of plain angel hair pasta! According to the chefs they didn't have a single vegetable in the back that they could cook with olive oil. She went further to say that the chef didn't even have any plain olive oil, and I would have to toss my pasta in the herb infused olive oil at the table because "the chef says if he cooks it with the pasta it will burn". Uhm? What? I cook with olive oil every single day-- it's never burned. They didn't have A SINGLE VEGETABLE IN THE BACK THAT WASN'T DRENCHED IN BUTTER? Makes me think that they have no fresh food back there at all! My pasta comes out. Half of it isn't even cooked-- they couldn't cook a plain bowl of pasta???? Seriously? Never again! read more

Possibly the fanciest restaurant in Albany, but that's definitely not saying much. Recently Carino's reopened with advertisements of new lower prices to draw in previous customers who had a bad taste of the previous Carino's. I had tried the place when it originally opened here and found it to be decent food at outrageous prices. With a new lower price I found myself wanting to give them another chance, so took my girlfriend out to dinner. The facility has the same look with a classic Italian feel to give it that dimly lit Italian restaurant atmosphere. The menu has hardly changed with slight price decreases, most of which being about 1 dollar less than they used to be. Over all it seems like an impressive place, until you get your food. While any price decrease is welcomed, they also unfortunately decreased the size of the portions. Now it seems you're paying about a dollar less for maybe half of the meal it used to be. Way to cut costs guys. A thinned out menu, smaller portions, and still woefully overpriced items left a terrible taste in my mouth that will almost assuredly prevent my family's and my own returning to this chain of restaurants here or anywhere else. Overpriced and woefully inauthentic...as far as "Italian" chains go, Olive Garden beats Carino's every time. I've eaten here half a dozen times in the past year since it's the only freaking "Italian" joint w/in 30 miles of my home in Corvallis, OR (I know, it's tragic). This lack of true Italian food has been very hard for me as a great lover of Italy, raised in Chicago and having lived in the NYC area x past 5 yrs. Every time I eat at Carino's I leave feeling bloated, unsatisfied, and a little melancholic. The "power lunch" is okay - it's fast and relatively cheap at approx. $8-9/entree including soup or salad. If you're going to eat at Carino's stick w/ the power lunch b/c dinner is a total rip off. For dinner, save your money and drive to Portland, OR in search of decent Italian food. Seriously, at $20 an entree (yes, Carino's is charging close to $20 an entree) you can get some really, really excellent Italian food in this country...food that an actual Italian from Italy may actually consider eating. You will not find said food at Carino's...what you will find is highly Americanized, chain restaurant quality garbage made out of frozen/pre-fabricated ingredients which have been lubed up w/ tons of butter and salt to disguise their mediocre quality/taste. It's always exciting to go to a new restaurant in town, especially in Albany! (Have ya'll ever been to Albany?! Okay, I shouldn't knock a town that I chose to spend my time in...) My significant other took me there last night... here is my story: I'm a huge fan of Italian food. Bread, pasta, creamy calorie filled sauces. Did I mention pasta?! Tortellini = YUM. And I wonder why I have a slight weight problem! Carino's serves delicious fresh bread once you are seated, it's accompanied with garlic and olive oil, a very good combo in my book! Soup or salad is served with entrees - I selected the garlic potato soup since it's a personal favourite. However, I think Campbell's Soup makes it better. I was less than impressed. However, the salad looked good - I'll select that next time. Appetizers - kinda strange selection for an Italian joint. Nachos is something you'd see at Red Robin or Apple Bee's. But I guess variety is a good thing? We went with the Fire Sticks since all the waitresses (more on that later!) were pushing them on all unsuspecting customers. And oh. my. goodness. They were amazing. Amazing. I'll just get an order of Fire Stick next time for dinner - and not share with anyone. Dinner - ahhh, still not sure what I think of it. I ordered the Cheese Tortellini and added chicken for $3. However, the chicken was very thin strips and I had to search for them. I not picky when it comes to chicken, but I definitely wasn't impressed. The tortellini itself was okay. Not the best, not the worst. The sauce didn't look appealing, however tasted okay. They go skimpy on the parmesan cheese that gets freshly grated on top at the table - after 20 seconds of grating cheese any person would feel like it's time to say stop. However so little cheese was coming out! Give me cheese people!! Waitresses: Okay, I'm a little chubby. Not too chubby, just got a few extra pounds, noooo big deal. My man loves me the way I am. Blah blah blah. I'm not jealous of the skinny-minis, I love my food and I don't like to work out. There was not one single overweight waitress/hostess/chef in the joint - pretty strange if you ask me, but whatever. But ohhhh my did they flirt with my man!! Yes, he's hot. That's an established fact in my book - but to google him with your eyes and undress him every single time you walk by? Uh, no. Not acceptable. Blatant smiles and staring? Not acceptable when you're working. I stayed quite until he asked - why are they all staring at me? We laughed it off and had a nice evening, but seriously? Look, but don't stare AND smile. Next time, if we ever go back, I will ask to speak to management. Ladies, he's going home with me. Overall, I'd rather eat at Olive Garden. Or Taco Bell. Go elsewhere. I walked in and they were friendly, but it isn't about the people, it's about the food. I had been wanting to go somewhere else, but that place was closed, so by default, I went to Carino's. I hadn't been impressed in the past, but I wasn't going to worry about that, but then when they handed me the menu, I instantly had a bad attitude as the prices were out of hand. Nothing was under $10.00 and the menu was poorly designed, so it took forever to find anything that might be of interest. Calories took over and so I picked chicken caesar salad. That should have been safe right? After all, $12.00 for a salad, and it should be good. They shot a square plate with tomatoes in each corner (tomatoes?!?) but then I noticed the croutons were from a box. Seriously? Boxed croutons on a $12.00 salad? Is Carino's CEO behind on his yacht payments? Plus, it was loaded with olives and I didn't think those went on caesar salads either. And the chicken? Did Carino's find those at Costco? They have tried hard to create and ambiance, but with TVs, they killed it. Is it a fancy restaurant or is it a bar? For that money, take down the TVs. There are good places to eat in Albany, just they weren't open at the time and I should have saved my money and gone to Taco Bell as the quality is similar and I would be $20.00 richer. read more

I am always one to try a new restaurant, especially if someone recommends the place, so that's what my husband and I did. The waiting list was at least an hour long, so my husband and I found a seat at the bar and decided to eat dinner there. The service was terrible! We sat down, ordered a couple of drinks and 30 minutes later...still no drinks, no sign of the waiter and no food ordered. We have gone back once since that incident and I am sorry to say, I have nothing positive to add. The food was your typical run of the mill chain food restaurant quality...nothing to write home about. We thought the prices were high and the quality of food and service was very poor. I had been contemplating a visit to Carino's for several months and decided to try it tonight with out of town guests. Our server, Megan, was fantastic. She confessed it was only her third day on the job. She was knowledgable about their menu, made recommendations and provided attentive service. I had the chicken fettuccine, Miss D had the lobster ravioli in vodka sauce and her man had the chicken marsala. We all enjoyed the complimentary bread and garlic infused dipping oil. Delish!! First of all while we got seated for a family of 5 our tables were super sticky due to all the olive oil for the bread , the utensils were super dirty, the kids cups were super flimsy and the lid came off causing ice tea to spill all over my 5 year olds clothes. Waiters passed by didn't even offer a wet rag to wipe the tables down. The kids chicken Alfredo pasta was really bland like they opened the sauce of Alfredo from a jar from the super market. We went as a party of four at 5pm. In the hour plies we were there, we were served by five different people, none seemingly talking to the others. They were very good at refilling our flavored lemonades but failed to refill our salads or bread basket. We had finished the main course and our salad refill was still being processed. To make up for this, we each received a $5 gift card. The food itself was average. The chicken ravioli was descent but the marinara sauce was over spiced with pepper. The Alfredo sauce was also average. They also need to work on the lighting. It was very difficult to read the menu. read more

We were travelling up on I-5 and stopped for late evening dinner here when not many other places were open, expecting average quality based on reviews. Place was above expectation on all fronts. Very courteous and attentive service and good food. Waiter was open to making modification to the entree per request and food did arrive as asked. There were multiple people serving our table too as another reviewer noted, but they were all in sync with our orders. It was a slow night with only 1 other table occupied actually, so that should not have been difficult. read more

Been a few times now to this one and the one in Bend. We have always had excellent service and the food is on par with Olive Garden. The bread they serve is amazing and couple that with the roasted garlic and oil dip and I am in heaven. I finally went to Carinos last week. It's okay - nothing extra special. I ordered a veggie pasta dish that was really good. I liked the bread and dipping oil that they bring to the table. My friend ordered a wedge salad-it was just that-a wedge of lettuce. guess i've just never seen that before, and wouldn't really pay almost $8 for it. It's not super expensive there, but for my husband, young daughter and I to eat dinner there with 2 cocktails it was almost $80-that's including a kids meal..... I would rather go downtown and eat at Clemenzas if I'm in the mood for Italian. read more

Visiting in Albany today and remembered there was a Carino's here, several of us decided that it would be a good place to have lunch. Took almost 5 minutes for someone to come and seat us, nobody else was waiting and they weren't very busy. Took almost 10 before a waitress came and took our orders and then another 10 minutes or more before she brought us the bread. From the time we arrived until the time our food was brought to us was about 1/2 hour by that time and 3 of the 4 entrees were not as ordered. 45 minutes and still were waiting for our food. Food finally arrives and after two bites out of my half of prime rib sandwich I pulled a long dark brown hair out of my sandwich! Couldn't eat anything else after that. Won't come back to this establishment again and don't recommend it either. Never expected lunch to take over an hour. read more

Used to love this place. Brought my mom and son for a treat and we get our food and it's super salty.

Their spicy shrimp & chicken pasta is mighty good. Their fresh baked bread absolutely delicious and their saladas are always crispy.

We dine here fairly often and usually have no complaints. The service was great with a friendly server in the bar area. This review focuses their Alfredo sauce. Blah. Meh. It needs to have more flavor; adding some garlic to the recipe would improve this dish quite a bit. I tried this a few years ago and found it unappealing, so I thought I'd give it another shot. Ive been here before and done some a google review, it was a 1 star at that time. Came back to gave it another chance, only to be let down. The saving grace for it was the bartender, Bradley, amazing service. Everything else was mediocre and poor table service. We had to wait 45 minutes for food after our 20 minute wait for the order to be taken. We ordered desert and were totally paid out before they even brought that. Service was polite, but not timely, longer than expected wait to place drink orders with a long time sitting with an empty glass. Yes, I was literally sitting there staring at my food getting cold sipping my wine while waiting for them to fix my hubby's order. I ordered another glass to eat with my food, but his food came out and we finished eating just as my second glass was delivered. Menu lists a single price for a glass of wine, but when ordering, I was asked what size glass I wanted, um, the larger one, of course. Absolutely amazing food! Super friendly staff. Great atmosphere! Peach Italian soda was amazing!! 16 layer lasagna was to die for! Meatloaf was delicious!! Great place. We had two birthdays to celebrate. Made reservations the night before for 14 people. Arrived 15 minutes early and the tables were waiting for us. Great waiter, timely and helpful. Drinks were ordered, bread was served. Our meals arrived timely and no one had a complaint. It was all great. I loved the flat iron steak. Best I have had in ages.
