We had fond memories of Carino's in Arizona a long time ago. Great food and wonderful peach bellinis. We were excited to revisit this old favorite. I signed up for the emails and received a free pepperoni pizza with no strings offer. After a long day at Dollywood, we stopped by for Bellinis and pizza. The bartender was irritated and apparently unhappy with her situation. We were told we would have to order an entree as well as they weren't "part" of the system. After another 15 minutes, she finally returned to take our order. The drinks were tasty, but lacked a true Bellini flavor or any discernible alcohol. The chicken scallopini pasta was fine. Under seasoned, but fine. The pizza was middle school level gross. Undercooked, thin crust and zero seasoning. We would have complained, but it was free. We got what we paid for. read more

We had not been to a Johnny Carino's since 2004 when we lived in Arizona. Believe it or not, the first time I ate at a JC was in Kuwait. When I returned home, they had opened one in a nearby town. Back then we loved it; not so much now. The quality and taste of the food has diminished greatly. Our server was terrible. It took him forever to take our drink order, then to bring them. Went in on a Friday late afternoon, the restaurant is clean, very nice staff, we were promptly seated and the waiter showed up promptly as well to take our drink order. I got the pepperoni pepperoni pizza, and the wife ordered the Johnny Bravo spaghetti, lasagna, chicken Parmesan and a chopped salad. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT, food came out hot and fresh, and cheese you say how about fresh shaved parm on all. Refills on drinks, food was EXCELLENT, enough food to take back to our room, to go bag and containers with silverware... this is a great go to spot for EXCELLENT food and service. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of our lunch here. This is a great spot. The complimentary bread and olive oil dip (the dip was made right at the table) was a wonderful start. The ceasar salad was super fresh and plentiful. I ordered the shrimp scampi pasta and it was perfect. The pasta was not swimming in an inch of oil and the shrimp was tender and perfectly cooked. The flavors of basil, salt, oregano, etc. were spot on like when I make this same dish at home. Great service all around from the hostess station to the end. Our upbeat, energetic, proactive, friendly, and amazing server Cody was exceptional and on top of everything. He is one of the best servers ever!!!! We felt bad because we came in a little after 8pm and they close at 9. We knew we were splitting a plate since neither of us eat much. My former brother in law was born and raised in Naples, Italy and went to culinary school there. I worked in his Italian restaurant so I am very accustomed to real Italian and not the types of places that use ready made stuff like Olive Garden (bleh). We ordered a small plate of calamari which was fabulous. We got excited when the spices came out for the bread. We were shocked at the large size of the LOAF of bread presented. It was very hot and obviously fresh. Center was a little doughy. I didn't taste it before dipped in the oil/spices. And the rosemary was overwhelming. I didn't eat more than one bite and we both just left the bread alone. We ordered chicken Parmesan and 2 salads. Most places include a salad with your entree this one does not. We asked for ranch, not all ranch dressings are equal and this was just off somehow. I'm guessing it's premade from a bottle/jar. Anyway. We didn't eat the $5/each salads. By now we are dreading the next steps. The presentation looked nice, the chicken breading was crispy and good, chicken was DRY. The sauce on the pasta looked different from what was served on the chicken and had a better taste too. As you can see the chicken sauce was a bright red and the pasta was dark red. We were not given any Parmesan for our plates. Morgan, our sever, was very pleasant. We couldn't find her to ask for Parmesan, but figured it was because of so close to closing she had things going on. We understand. I'm so disappointed the flavor and quality just wasn't for us. I appreciate they plated our one dinner onto 2 plates for us. We sadly didn't eat even half of anything we got after the calamari. Definitely was not worth $45 for what we got. What a wonderful experience we had last night!!! Our servers were extremely attentive, smiling the entire time and were super quick with our requests. The food was absolutely amazing, was fresh, super hot and such a huge portion that we had to take it home. We were seated within minutes of walking in and the restaurant was nice and clean, the hostess was smiling and seemed very happy to be there. I'm not sure why the stars aren't high enough, because we had a 5 star experience! A simple but good (enough) place to have pasta American style. We have been here twice in our 3 day stay because we were tired from driving and searching. My wife had the lasagne twice and I had the ravioli and the second time the spicy chicken and shrimp penne. Don't expect the finesse of a proper Italian pasta but it was tasty and fresh. I still haven't figured out the way we were seated and the first time they tried us in the bar area. That is totally cool if you like to freeze In the main room the temp was good. Adam (our server) was awesome and very charismatic; he made the experience fun! Food: okay, I'm a true Italian and this may not be the most authentic place, but the food is good. Bread is hot- I didn't understand the oil and spice, but suggest serving oil and Parmesan cheese with the complimentary bread. If you ask for cheese there is no up charge. My friend and I ordered the "Bacon Mac&Cheese" along with the "Shrimp/Chicken Spicy Pasta" with no disappointments at all. The mac&cheese was heavenly and not short on the sauce. The spicy dish definitely had a kick to it, similar to a hot salsa. Both entrees reheated well, as they are so big you must take some home.
