Johnny Longboat's has been a tradition for us since we bought our first Marriott Vacation Club points in 2010. We have visited JLB every time we're in Palm Beach Shores at least once, usually multiple times. In the past, we have enjoyed their happy hour. They've offered very well priced drinks and appetizers. The happy hour appetizers included a variety of seafood appetizers. The choices were reduced and not very well priced this time. They have some daily specials. My husband noticed a sign that said "oysters, a bulk a hulk." He didn't notice the word "Wednesday " at the top in much smaller print. It was a Thursday and our 6 oysters cost $20.99. We each got 2 happy hour well drinks and shared 6 oysters and an order of fried oysters and the total cost was $75. The clincher was when I noticed they charged us for using a credit card. We live in a cashless society. I won't eat at restaurants that charge for credit cards.

Eaten here a few times over the years ands it's always a bit of mixed feelings. Love the beachy theme and colors in the restaurant. However this place is inconsistent. Food one day is delicious, while next is super bland. This recent visit, food was pretty good. Mahi was delicious! But our service was not good. Took soooooo long for our waiter to take our orders, and he barely spoke to us and didn't check in until we were all done with our food and had been waiting for awhile. I say this all because your experience here genuinely is unpredictable. You could have a kitchen staff that's amazing...or not so much...you could have a server who's attentive and friendly... or not so much. It's a gamble, but despite the inconsistency, we will still return to eat here!

Still a fun place but prices have skyrocketed. Had 2 well drinks apiece, a half dozen oysters to share, and a happy hour order of 8 fried oysters. With tip $75. Probably done for this trip. Got good service at the bar top but unfortunately did not get the server's name.

Outstanding service! Even with specific request for how sweet my wife's drink needs to be! Great happy animal details, and fun festive atmosphere. Happy hour is 7 days, 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

This is a great corner restaurant with plenty of seating indoors and out. We sat outside and quickly got water and had a drink order taken. I was just getting over the flu and wanted something comforting and easy on the stomach so I settled on chicken quesadillas. The menu is extensive but these looked the perfect fit. They arrived looking good, but first bite told me I ordered the wrong thing. The chicken was spicy and I was afraid I would upset my stomach worse so didn't eat more than one bite. So disappointing as I hadn't eaten in 3 days and wanted something good. I double checked the menu and it did not mention spices in the chicken. The server never questioned why I hadn't touched my food when he took it away

    Buffalo chicken dip. $19.99

$19.99. This morsel of a plate was $19.99. A dish so sad I wouldn't charge my worst enemy $19.99 for it. Johnny Longboats, why is this sorry appetizer $19.99? Not only was the portion size disrespectful, but it was also severely lacking flavor. Imagine canned chicken with a sprinkle of cheese and Frank's RedHot mixed in. Half a cup of mystery buffalo dip for $19.99 is absolutely criminal. I also had the JLB Caribbean Mahi Wrap and ordered it with 'vegetables' only to be told the vegetables were just green beans. That's fine, but there needs to be more transparency because 'vegetables' makes it sound like you have a mix of veggies. When my dish came out, the green beans were thrown loosely onto the plate like an afterthought, and my wrap was swimming in green bean water. It made the wrap so soggy I couldn't even pick it up. Y'all need to put that in a bowl, maybe the same tiny bowl y'all used for that sorry, paltry buffalo dip.

Good stuff!! Perfect for the travel and tourist crowd. I got the mahi mahi reuben with the fish blackened... it is THE meal I'll associate with this trip for the rest of my life, I think. The fries were good, the Diet Coke was cold. But the mahi mahi reuben... it was so good. A lot of meat on the sandwich but I finished the whole thing! My man got the stuffed shrimp, onion rings, and the Caribbean rice. All good but not as show-stopping as the reuben. Just a heads up: some meals come with sides even though it's not listed on the menu.

A couple of had Mahi sandwich which were very good. One of us had fish n chips which had too much fried dough and not enough fish. One us had a burger. Ask for medium and rare. Service was great but was told was her last week. Ambiance one of kind and I would go back again.

Jonnny Longboat is a cool nautical pirate themed kind of place. I love the decor and I love the food. Tonight they had oysters on the half shell and I split an order of nachos with my wife. Everything is great from the rum buckets that we ordered to the service that we received and of course the atmosphere of the place. I just love it. They've got my vote for one of my favorite kind of places, can't wait to go back and eat again.

Great ribs, beach‑bar vibes, and a shark judging every bite. We're gonna need a bigger plate... maybe a bigger boat.

What a treat that Johnny's has partnered with Wok by the Beach next door: Sushi at the shore! Several servers scrambled to take our orders, and the soccer/weekend crowd was laidback and loving it!

I'm giving Johnny Longboats a 3.7. Not quite a 4, but also not quite a 3. If you are going there it's because you're at the beach and want a fun atmosphere. The food is typical dive bar food. My husband had the special: lobster roll. It wasn't great. Lots of mayo. I had the Cabo wabo burger. That was pretty good. Just lacked salt. We sat at the bar. The service was decent. Again, don't come here thinking you're getting top of the line food. You're going for the atmosphere and the beach.

Did they have grouper in a bag?

Yes, it's been awhile since I've been there, but I remember that being on the menu.

Perfect spot to get your sushi or curry fill. The bento box is usually the perfect amount during lunch. Can't go wrong with panang curry. The potato wrapped shrimp were interesting. The shrimp should be a bit bigger. Other than that, I would come back to try their sushi!

Once inside, however, you are transported. They have a covered outside patio for dining, as well. This would be nice in cooler weather. And the restaurant has convenient parking on either side of the building. They have a special lunch menu with a lot of choices as well as a full menu. We both order one of their lunch specials. I ordered their shrimp pad Thai bento box. It came with soup or salad. I chose the miso soup as I'm not a fan of mixed greens. The soup was okay. In the bento box was a fried vegetable roll, a four piece California roll, the pad Thai, and two orange slices. The California roll was very good. Expertly and tightly rolled. I didn't care for the fried veggie roll. However, the shrimp pad Thai was wonderful. A half dozen large shrimp with rice noodles, bean sprouts, scallions, eggs -- all in a slightly sweet pad Thai sauce. And there was a lot of pad Thai packed into the section of the box. My husband got their sashimi lunch special. There were three types of raw fish -- salmon, tuna, and a white fish. Each fish had three fat slices. The meal came with a mixed greens salad. Along with a California roll, and that fried veggie roll. He liked it, "nice and fresh", he said. Although a bit out of the way for us, we felt the food was worth a drive. On the way out, we even got to meet the owner who told us that their menu is available on line.
