It really seems like a big tourist trap after peeps go to Guanabanas and find out their food is terrible and then head there to eat .. to me another disappointment ! We came for lobster. We were in the restaurant and seated before 6pm. The restaurant is a decent size and the place looked about 75% full. We ordered some apps and the stuffed lobster dinners. After bringing us our beverages, we were informed there were no more lobsters. Now this is a seafood restaurant and it was only an hour into dinner service and already no lobsters available on their special lobster menu ? Inconceivable. I informed the waitress we would be leaving and they still made me pay for two sodas after ruining our dinner. I will, of course, never be back for a second chance. On a side note, the Juno beach fish house, where we dined instead, was filled to capacity and most people enjoying their fresh 2lb lobster special. If I could give 0 stars I would. Never have I ever been to a restaurant that seemed to NOT want money. We showed up, 7 people, all 22 &23, they yelled at us and said they would not serve us BEFORE checking IDs and then we received the rudest looks from every person on the staff. From the moment we walked in. Laughing and whispers, followed by the staff yelling at us saying they were going to kick us out, before we even sat down. Laughable. Every time I go to Schooners I'm blown away. The food is consistently great. I'm never disappointed. I know the family and how hard they work at it so I'm not surprised but it's such a great value. I had a serious craving for a lobster roll. I brought a friend with me and we had a cup of conch chowder (outstanding) followed by a lobster salad roll. The roll was buttered and grilled and the lobster filled the roll without putting lettuce under to make it look bigger. It was filling and fairly priced. Great place for fresh seafood! We went here for the first time after a day at the beach. We were sat immediately. They have a nice selection on the menu. I would have loved to have ordered 10 different things! We got the crab legs and the calamari as appetizers. The crab legs are expensive, but they were fresh and very good. The calamari was also very good! I've had a lot and this was right up there. We polished it all iff between the 3 of us. For dinner, it was hard to choose, so I ordered "The Plate of the Day" from the specials menu. It has a little bit of everything. It was excellent! The yellowtail snapper was crusted with yuca, sweet potato, and horseradish. It also came with a side of the spaghetti with melted mozzarella on top, 3 fried shrimp, and a side of the spinach salad. Everything was excellent! I'd order it again. The fish was delicious! My sister ordered the swordfish. It came with 2 sides. She got the steamed vegetables of the day (zucchini and yellow squash) and fries. It was excellent and she ate it all. My nephew ordered the "honey-dipped" chicken wings. He loved them, but they did not taste like they were dipped in honey. They were just regular breaded, deep-fried wings. But they were really good. We didn't have room for dessert. But ordered a piece of key lime pie to go. But, the waitress never brought it and my sister forgot about it and we left without it. ‍ Our fault! We drove from Miami. 3 of us shared Fried grouper cheeks for appetizer. There are 3 pieces on the dish all one-bite-size. We ate all at the same time. Mine tasted like something dead and decaying. My other friends said theirs the same. So we told the waitress. She came back saying we should have left the food on the plate if they were so bad so the cook can ... whatever... There were only 3 tiny pieces. How? But we stayed for the rest of the course. The sword fish dish is pretty good. But the scallop and shrimp salad dish is terrible. It's like eating something cooked the night before and left outside dried in the room by themselves. Not fresh nor hot nor chilled. The chicken dish was ok but no taste. By that time we have already decided not to come back. We only told the waitress we were surprised the sword fish dish was great. Then we went home. Around 12am. I felt my stomach was boiling. And I curled up in pain. I could barely straighten myself up to open the kitchen cabinet above the counter. Desperately I took 3 gel Advil. Then I crashed in my bed. I woke up at 4am in my shit. Shit all over the place. I must have passed out. I am still in pain but I survived. I texted my friends to see they are alive or not. Then I typed this review. Had conch chowder and bites Juan suggested the bites and he was 100% correct this was my husband first time out since June and surgery and he had fish an chips all gone our drink glasses never emptied. Lots of construction in the area our first time here. We love it. Lunch time is very quiet can eat inside and outside. Coleslaw is the best ever! Schooner's is consistently very good. It is comfortable. I really like the outdoor bar. The menus have great selections from seafood to burgers and deli sandwiches. The daily seafood bowl is delicious with calamari, shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops, and one of many fish. The broth changes ddaily. There is a lot of seafood plus potatoes and other veggies. It's an impressive portion. The broth would make a good soup on its own There are fresh fish selections and daily specials. Full bar with a good selection of beer and wine. Been to this restaurant many times over the years. The food can be hit or miss. Yesterday was an anniversary date for the family and the leader of our group selected Schooners. Went there on a Saturday evening at 6 PM. Not overly busy. Plenty of parking space. Our group of 5 sat indoors away from the loud bar music outside. The seating is okay. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The rolls were warm and arrived quickly. The rest of the food was just meh. I ordered an appetizer of wings. They were coated with some kind of breading that was more coating than chicken. The 10 wings costs $16 and they were just okay. Not something I would order again. I ordered the $30 daily special of broiled salmon with baked potato and a green bean casserole as sides. The 4 ounce salmon was cooked okay but was flavorless. A dab of garlic butter or spices on top of it would have been nice. I ate most of it because I was hungry. The baked potato was not baked at all. It was steamed or microwaved with a 1" knife slice down the side. It was luke warm to the touch. The potato skin wasn't crispy on the outside. It was soggy and blanched. The frozen pats of butter that came with it didn't melt in the potato. I didn't eat much of it because it was room temperature. Schooners should cook their baked potatoes like Long Horn restaurant in Jupiter Gardens. They do it right. The green bean casserole was like eating wallpaper paste. Soggy mush. Disgusting. Nobody at my table who ordered the side could eat it. It was worse than Army mess hall food. It had to be several hours old or perhaps leftovers from the night before. read more

Craving seafood?? Look no further! My oh my, it did NOT disappoint! Very casual, and chill atmosphere. I didn't think the food would be as wonderful as it was! One of the food specials for the day was lobster bites with 2 sides, and omg those bites....I can't get over how delicious they were. My husband got the fisherman's stew and I wish I would have taken a picture of how big this plate was! It was basically a huge bowl of all the seafood in a deliciously perfectly spiced broth. Prices were reasonable for a seafood joint in Jupiter. And service was incredible! From our server to other servers to the bussers, everyone was busting their tails and doing an awesome job staying on top of empty drinks to dirty plates on your table. We went to celebrate my son's birthday. Six of us total. I had one of the specials for the night, a sampler including fried shrimp, a crusted piece of fish, a lovely spinach gorgonzola salad and a creamy pasta thing. Sorry I can't remember the actual names, but it was delicious. I hate to say, I ate all of it. Several in our party had the fried jumbo shrimp, which they also commented was out of this world. One had the Fisherman's stew, the tomato-ey one, not the creamy one. This bowl was huge, hot and luscious. She loved it and the seafood in it was plentiful. Even had enough to take some home. Son had a salad of some kind with shrimp on top. He said it was delightful. It looked nice and he finished it quickly. Service was good, the gal was attentive. We sat inside the dining room as the elders in our party are not into sitting outside in the warm weather (we are locals, leave the outside nonsense for the tourists!). It was really nice, quiet, we could hear ourselves talk. (I comment on this because all of us went to Lynora's Tequesta a few weeks before and while the food and service was spectacular, it was noisy, and we mentioned that to each other) They did have a live person singing and playing guitar at the outside seating area. Took a Sunday drive to the Jupiter Lighthouse to get out for the day and found this great place for brunch. They had a special brunch menu with regular Eggs Benedict as well as the crab cakes. Im so glad i tried the crab because they were delicious. The regular menu looked great with a large selection of seafood as well as burgers, appetizers and salads. I was greeted and seated immediately. I chose outdoors on a hightop which was quite a distance from others (over 6 feet away) All servers were masked and required for entry. The restaurant was not overcrowded and they had fans to cool the area. I felt very comfortable and welcomed. The parking was easy, prices very fair and my server was the best! There are many eating establishments in this area but I would definitely return to this restaurant. read more

Seemed like a lot of regulars at the bar. We also tried the smoked fish appetizer and the key west cracked conch bites. The fish dip was flavorful but the menu doesn't specify what type of fish. The highlight was the conch. They have two options on the appetizer menu - Bahamian conch fritters and these key west bites. I highly recommend the key west bites if you are looking for big pieces of conch. So tender. The batter is light. The sauce was too spicy for me but I can't handle much. I had very high expectations going into schooners and was sadly disappointed by specifically the food. The service here was as expected and sitting outside was a nice treat. My biggest knock was the quality of the food. We started with one of the fried shrimp appetizer and it was just meh. The breading was so doughy and thick you can hardly taste the shrimp. The salsa in the middle of the dish was great though! For my dinner I had the mixed grill which comes with shrimp, scallops, mahi and chicken over rice and they were all pretty dry including the rice. I was also a little displeased at the price as it was a bit steep for the amount of food and food quality you get. Schooners seems like a good lunch spot, might stop in again some day. read more

We saw a Facebook post about how good the food is at Schooners. We're Florida Keys natives, so we're kinda picky about our seafood. We went for lunch and I ordered the Fisherman's Stew. It was a HUGE portion and chock-full of fish, scallops, shrimp, mussels, and more. The broth was to die for, with yummy toasted garlic bread for dipping. I would definitely get this again, maybe to share with someone. It's a lot for one person to eat. My husband got a bowl of the conch chowder - again, more than he could finish, and really delicious. We also tried the conch bites, which were good, but not as good as the other things we tried. We'd love to see Schooners offer a cracked conch option in addition to the small bites. The prices are reasonable, the service is prompt and friendly, and while the ambiance is not the most spectacular, it's nice enough. It's typical old-school Florida seafood restaurant decor. There were other menu recommendations in the same FB post that we didn't have room to try (like the Chef Louie Salad), so we definitely plan to go back! read more

We are in Jupiter for two nights with no true plans. We looked at many different restaurant's menus and reviews, and decided on Schooners. We just left (Sunday 6/30/24 9pm), and I came straight here to write this review upon returning to the hotel. The food was good! Justine our server was AMAZING! My husband couldn't decide between New England clam chowder or Key West Conch Chowder... she brought him a small sample of both. I asked about the cole slaw and if it was heavy on the vinegar and she brought a small sample. Both chowders were good but very different from each other... the conch chowder is a red tomato base with a little spicy kick. Husband chose the Clam chowder and it was SOOOO GOOD! I gave up two fried shrimp (couldn't hold them) to dip more of the roll in the chowder. The Cole slaw was very creamy... too heavy on the mayo taste for me (I do not like mayo) but my husband Loved it!! I got the black beans and rice (mixed) as a side and they were very good. We ordered a pina colada and a watermelon margarita both were great. They use the Island Oasis mix for the pina colada which has always been my favorite!!! The watermelon margarita was too strong for me but hubs loved it and ordered a second. We were there til they closed at 9 but Justine kept telling us to take our time. Definitely recommend!
