As Portnoy would say a Detroit style has to be like an offensive lineman, look intimidating but shockingly light on its feet and this pizza is just that. Disclaimer - this review is NOT about their pizza as their pizza is delicious. I called around noon to order a gluten free pizza to be picked up. The phone rang, message came on "if you are trying to place an order, please go online". I went to their website, store hours said "open", went and ordered the pizza for a 1:30pm same day pick up. Entered my credit card to pay and got a confirmation email as well as a confirmation text message. Drove there only to discover the sign on the door "Closed for the Winter"..... The pizza is good but the business practices are bad. Paid online for a lunch special only to find out the store doesn't open (a recent change) Monday and Tuesday until 4:00 PM. Can only rave about the Crispy Pepperoni Cup tray pizza. It has a thick and chewy crust. Not many places in Boston have the crispy edge pepperoni cups like the one here. Very cheesy and added touch of honey. I personally didn't mind the honey but I wonder if it can be put on the side. Will definitely get this pizza again read more

Some things are good, some things not so good. JP if I have one tip of advice that would make so many of your dishes (pizza, gnocchi, etc) better it would be to lay off the salt in your red sauce!! I went there for the first time with high hopes that they actually made a descent meatball. I dared to hope for this because they actually sell a side of just meatballs. I don't see this place getting a lot of reviews but I have had such a positive experience with them I thought they should get more love. Their pizza is fantastic - definitely some of the best square pies in Boston - with some really great toppings. The sandwiches and garlic knots are also top notch. Second, tried the mushroom pizza, good, maybe a B rating, a little soft, not tremendous flavor, there are better options across the river in the north end. Last, large set of subs ordered for 4 of us. Italian was so drenched in oil it couldn't be eaten, half of the "specialty" meats missing. French fries in photo, but "the don't serve those." Two pork sub also not edible, meat seem old. Faro salad lacked Faro! Complete failure. No consistency hear.
