At San Marcos outlets shopping for the holiday, I wanted to stop at Johnny Rockets. Having never been, and being from the Midwest, I wanted to check it out. A cursory glance, it reminds me of a restaurant called Steak N' Shake. I immediately fell in love with the retro themed decor. And was excited to try something on the menu. My excitement was dashed when the only server working there floor said there was a fifteen minute wait due to staffing. She and only one other person was working the floor and the restaurant was only about 50% filled and of that, only half actually had food. Still, I decided to give it s a try. I just asked for the bill to a different server since our server was not checking on us for long time and she was very offended. Also can anyone check if their vegan shake is truly the same price as the regular chocolate shake? They ran out of the vegan option so I got the regular version, but I was still charged for vegan shake. Food and service were absolutely horrible. I wouldn't recommend going there. It didn't seem like they truly understood what customer service means. I walked in, sat down, and ordered what I wanted. There weren't many people around at the time--just a few tables occupied. All the servers were just loitering, walking around at a snail's pace, taking forever to work, cook, and serve the food. Everything was painfully slow. As more people started coming in, the staff just didn't seem to step up their game. The burger I ordered was tiny for the price we paid. Come on, guys. Only thing good here was the taste of the burger. The size is another thing. All our burger patties were the same size, the kids sliders and the adult burgers. A bit overpriced for sure, but when you want the real milkshake and burger experience, you won't be disappointed. Service was slim but functional. After 10 minutes of waiting the waiter tells me she is going to have to ask me to move from the booth because it is only for "big parties". Not even the courtesy of being asked if I minded moving, it was more demanding for me to move to waiters selection by the window, where it felt so hot. I ate at Johnny Rocket's for lunch while on workation in San Marcos, Tx at the Outlet's. You have to wait to be seated or if you choose to grab and go there's a limited menu. My wait was 15 minutes. Once inside I was sat at the bar. I was given a disgusting menu which I politely gave back. I ordered the burger and fries, fries were right out the grease I luv them like that. Before i Have been here before and I enjoyed it but this time I went it was not as great, the shakes were is a paper cup and not in the glass like before and they didn't bring the extra of the shake in the tin cup, the chicken tenders and fries were really bland. Just a bad experience overall. It would be fine if the prices reflected the size butt they don't I paid $10.95 for a hamburger the size of a McDouble accompanied by less french fries then McDonald's small order. the owners and shareholders should be ashamed of themselves but somehow they manage to stay in business. I'm honestly surprised that so many people have given Johnny Rockets good reviews. There are so many other chains and Mom and Pop places that serve higher-quality with bigger portions for the same price For this place to still be a thing. To name a few Red Robins. Fuddruckers. I took my granddaughters to the Jonny Rockets at the Riverwalk in San Antonio on 8/1/2023. From the photos and on line menu it looked like a fun experience. It was disappointing from the get go. After being seated I ordered milkshakes for my granddaughters and a Dr Pepper for myself. The waiter brought my Dr Pepper and took our food order. A while later he brought my granddaughters food but still no milkshakes. He finally brought the milkshakes and both were chocolate- we had ordered one vanilla and one chocolate. My meal was finally delivered but not my granddaughters milkshake. She was 1/2 way through her meal with nothing to drink. I finally went to the counter and asked for a glass of water since she still hadn't gotten her milkshake. She was almost done eating when her milkshake arrived. Between poor service and cold food I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. The manager on duty did not know how to issue a credit card refund and had to call a friend.
