My sewer main backed up and I called 4 or 5 plumbing companies and everyone said they were just too busy to get to it for at least 72 hours. No one would commit to a price to snake my main either. Then I called Johnny Rooter and talked to Johnny himself. He said he could have someone out in 2 or 3 hours and that it would cost $151 for a simple snake job. Now we're talkin! Cameron and his helper Elijah were knocking on my door right on time and after I showed them where the cleanout trap was they had the main snaked and flowing within 10 minutes. We spent more time trading plumbing jokes than it took them to clean my line. These guys are great and they won't try to rip you off. read more

They quoted me over $400 as the price to snake the sewer line and then check it with the camera. That's an absurd amount of money for 30 minutes of work plus some driving time. I found another company that did it for $150 (still expensive, but far more reasonable, and they did a great job). A lot of these companies lure you in with a reasonable starting rate for the basic service, but then really jack up the price on extras like the camera because most homeowners don't know ahead of time that they're going to need the line looked at with a camera, and they have no idea what a reasonable price is to pay for it (the equipment isn't cheap, but there's no reason to pay an extra $260 for them to get the camera out of their truck and take a look!). So once the plumber is there and they say it's necessary, homeowners pay the outrageous prices. Check around for better prices first. read more

I came home to a gigantic water bill. I then started digging around the yard until I found The Leak. By this time it was night so I shut off the water line to the house and went inside to research plumbers. I ended up calling Johnny Rooter Plumbing and I asked if they could come the next day (a Saturday). The next day, Cody arrived. He did some more digging and discovered an unusual piping layout right where the water line was broken. Fixing the more complicated setup took longer and therefore cost more than I expected, but it was still a good deal (plus I had a $10 off coupon from their website). Now I can shower. Yay. read more

A handyman who had done some other quality work at my house told me that he was going to have to take the kitchen sink out to do an inspection and clear the problem, and quoted me $600. My tenants had an overflowing toilet on a Thursday night. Sewage water was everywhere! I called several plumbers/rooter services before I called Johnny Rooter. Let me just say that from here on out they will be my FIRST call. ARS Rooter, although responsive was a RIP OFF. When I called Johnny Rooter I spoke with Debbie and she was very friendly and helpful. She provided me the prices for various scenarios. To run the sewer line was $152.50, to run the toilet was $84, and if they had to lift the toilet off to run it was an additional $51.50. Roto Rooter wanted $475 JUST TO LIFT OFF THE TOILET!!!! And that is what I mean by a rip off. I could lift off the toilet MYSELF for $0. Anyway, Debbie took my request and sent a tech to my location immediately. Within about 30 minutes John showed up. He diagnosed the problem, snaked the sewer line via the kitchen sink and was on his merry way. He was very very friendly and I was very very happy to have the toilet issue resolved for my tenants....until exactly one week later...when she texted me again telling me that she came home to explosive tissue residue all over her floor. Of course it was about 10pm and so naturally I called up Johnny Rooter again. Because it was a Friday night and the beginning of a weekend there was an extra service charge of $25 for the tech to come onsite. This time Dennis came to the rescue. Dennis is John's brother...and they do look like brothers! So Dennis came out and snaked the sewer line but he was sweet and kind enough to not charge me ANYTHING since it was only one week earlier when his brother was out here doing the exact same thing. Dennis did not have to do that at all but he did and my wallet was very much appreciative of that. Otherwise it would have been another $152.50. All in all, problem solved! Crossing my fingers that we won't have to call Dennis or John out in the near future. Hoping these drainage problems will subside for a longggg period of time. The kitchen sink clogged up on a Sunday night. I called Johnny Rooter just before 8:00 on Monday morning. The man who answered estimated that he could get a plumber here by around 10:00 or 11:00 a.m. In fact, the plumber got here around 8:30 and by 9:30 our problem was gone. Charge was $127.50 (incl. tax) to snake a 75'-foot line to make sure the sink was free of clog all the way to the sewer line. Seemed like a fair price to me and especially for getting it done so fast on a Monday morning. read more

The receptionist answered right away, she was kind and courteous and she immediately knew what the issue was when I explained it to her. They are flexible with their hours and will work late nights if it is a time sensitive issue. I scheduled an appointment for the next day and they arrived even earlier than expected (and called ahead to make sure this was OK.) William took care of the issue and let me know what steps to take to ensure that it wouldn't happen again in the future. These guys are great. I had a mystery problem with the toilets and tub that could not be snaked out. These guys correctly pointed me toward a video snake so we could determine the problem. We found a large piece of metal impeding the flow which had been dropped through the air vent on the roof. Rather than immediately blasting holes in the house, they attempted to trouble shoot like macgyver. We dropped a large magnet down through the roof in an attempt to pull out the rod. It didn't work but was a great idea. Then he made a hole in the wall, cut open the pipe and duck taped multiple tools together to get the obstruction out without ripping out cabinets to get closer to the source. Amazingly this worked! And he pulled out....a 3 foot metal rod, a cup and a stick. Anyway - great guys. Friendly, helpful, resourceful, were available the morning I called and at a decent price for the amount of time it took. read more

So, we're finally moving into our new home and we end up with a sewer line blockage that affects the entire house early Saturday morning (that means NO BATHROOM!). Call up Johnny Rooter looking for help. The lady on the phone was very pleasant and gave me a quote range explaining the breakdown on price (after hours call). The price was extremely reasonable even with the off hours charge plus she said they could have someone over in about an hour (needless to say I jumped on it). About an hour later Dennis showed up and, after asking a few questions, got to work. Dennis fixed the problem, gave advice regarding paperwork (this is a new construction home) and put up with my bad jokes and stories while he worked. On top of this, the charge was actually on the lower end of the scale I had been quoted! After all of the headaches of buying a new home (and dealing with cruddy contractors) I am so happy to find a company like this. I've been using Johnny Rooter for about 8 years now, and have always been very happy with them. They have squads of full plumbers that can handle any job, and then squads who only go out to unclog drains. It saves the customer a lot of money if we're billed for the skills of someone with less experience than a master plumber when all we need is a drain opened up. I've never had any of their people go beyond their capabilities. They're very reliable about coming out when they say they will come out to my house, polite, and clean up after themselves. Had a backed up toilet that was unresponsive to my plunger. Called at about 11:00am and they had someone here by 3:30pm. Friendly, courteous, and fast. Today I had the pleasure of meeting a first class plumber. After the gas company turned our gas off for an undetectable leak, we called Johnny Rooter Plumbing Company. They said they would be there by 8:00 am the following morning. At 7:30 am the next morning we had a call from the company's technician Jay Rice, and he was at our front door before 8:00 am. Mr. Rice was competent, personable, efficient, and very professional. He went out of his way to save us money, time and handled the gas company for us. What a relief to have Mr. Rice take charge and repair several problems and get our house back to normal. We were prepared for a large bill for the hours and their efforts but were blow away that it was only a couple hundred dollars. We will gratefully use them again in the future. Feb 11, cold snap, then leak springs in living room....bad news. Call Johnny Rooter, had to wait a week bec of the backlog, but they send their leak specialist. Took him 4 hours and he found the leak that the the first plumber I called couldn't. They said either $750 for bypass or $5K for going thru slab, and they recommended the $750 bypass. They fixed that perfect....so I had them to another job of installing a shut off valve on my stove to keep my 80 year old mo in law from burning the house down. They truly thought out of the box on this one and did A+++ work. These guys are awesome, professional, nice, and know their business. If you're reading this, you're in a pinch, but don't worry, call Johnny Rooter and they will set your mind at ease....they did that for me. read more

I use these guys all the time for basic/emergency plumbing needs in my 50's home. The folks that work at the office are always cool. Sometimes you talk to Johnny, which is cool. They call when they say they will, and show up when they say they will. What more do you want? I recently had the main water line going into the house bust. This was frustrating because Johnny's had actually been out to fix it about 6 months prior. They promptly fixed the broken pipe, this time making the connection beefier. My charge? Nothing! "1 year warranty on parts and labor" they said. Bottom line. Johnny stands by its products and labor, and they do it with a smile. They deserve 5 stars. read more

Called Johnny Rooter for a what I believed to be a clogged pipe preventing my dishwasher from draining. "John" came out, looked around for a few minutes, and claimed it was actually my dishwasher's pump and that he couldn't help me. Still charged me the $50 service call, which was annoying but seemed fair, until the dishwasher technician came out to fix my problem a few days later. It was a simple clog in one of the drainage pipes that a PLUMBER SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIX. Not a good argument for calling up Johnny Rooter again. read more

I couldn't be more disappointed for the service I received. The plumber was one of the slowest moving individuals I have ever come in contact with. Normally, I wouldn't mind other than that fact I was paying $110 per hour. When I tried to bring up the fact that I was hemorrhaging cash he got really upset. I got so frustrated that I started doing a lot of the work I could to help move things around. I feel like I am a reasonable guy and try to give folks the benefit of the doubt, but I feel like I paid far more that was reasonable, but I was in a pinch. I felt like they could have sent out an assistant at half the rate. How hard is it to run PVC? I even had to pay for the rework when some of the joints wouldn't hold water long enough to pass inspection. read more

I had a bad leak in an outbuilding. Old galvanized pipe had rusted through. I had forgotten that a few years ago we had a cutoff valve put under the main house, so cutting off the leak in the main building was as simple as shutting off the valve. Curtis Chavis from Johnny Rooter found the valve and turned it off, leak stopped. He also told me checked out the galvanized pipe at the leak location and told me it was probably bad all the way from the house - gave me $1900 estimate to fix that run. The amazing thing is that he didn't charge me for the service call, because he didn't do any work, just turned off the valve. I asked him repeatedly to let me pay for the call but he wouldn't let me. He gave me lots of good info too. I have used JR for years and never had a bad experience. Five stars !!! read more
