I am obsessed with the food at Johnny V's! I've now found my go to salad, which is the Caprese Burrata salad - always perfectly dressed in seasoned, meticulously made! One of the team members recommended I try the Bolognese sauce a few weeks back - I'm so glad I did! They were kind enough to make mine with penne pasta. The sauce reminds me of a pasta I had in Greenwich Village in New York in the little Italy area. It's one of the best Bolognese sauces I've had from a restaurant in about 10 years. It's deep and comforting in flavor and it does taste like it has been simmering on your Nonna's stove all day. Highly recommend.! Not that I needed a dessert, but I asked chef Johnny, which of the dessert pies I should try and he recommended the Nutella. He said that you take one bite and you don't wanna stop. I don't have much of a sweet tooth and I typically don't have chocolatey or rich desserts as a preference, but this one is dangerously delicious. I thought it was gonna be overly sweet, but the salted pistachios and the mild flavor of the pizza dough helped blend all the flavors together. There was a chocolate drizzle on top as well, which actually helped balance the Nutella. I did stop at two small pieces and have the rest saved for her multiple desserts for the rest of the week. I am curious about the very crumble, but this was definitely an elevated dessert. I've not yet tried anything from Johnny's restaurant that I haven't liked. Very high quality food. It's giving fancier restaurant quality food but mom and pop interior for the restaurant. Which is love supporting local small businesses. Honestly, one of the most flavorful bolognese/meat sauce I've ever had. This is probably one of my favorite bolognese of all time. And this is coming for a woman who had her mother make her spaghetti and meat sauce for her birthday ever year growing up cuz it's one of my favorite dishes. I dropped by because I wanted to see Johnny V's new pizza joint. I have been to his Thai Restaurant and have also been to events he catered. I dropped in a little after 1 pm and ordered the Lunch Special. I was immediately greeted and seated right away. I had the Thin Crust North Beach Street Special. It was a delicious New York Style pizza, especially, if you like thin crust pizza. Not only was the pizza delicious, but I was blown away on Johnny's creation of an Italian Wedge Salad. I love Wedge Salads but this version had Oregano, Basil, and Parmesan dressing. Wow. The ambience is very casual and they have several TV's that are playing sports. On a whim we decided to try a new place. Just a couple extra miles outside of our regular area in far north Fort Worth. When we say don't judge a book by its cover...this place reinforces that. From the outside it seems simple but step inside and it's mom n' pop . The owner is a very friendly gentleman and helped us through our decisions. They only serve pastas, pizzas and some salads. We got an easy feeling the more we talked to him that this would be a great experience. So we split the personal size Caesar salad. Big enough for us to split. I have to say it was one of the better Caesar's I've had in a while. Great taste, good Parmesan on it and it wasn't soaked in cheap Caesar dressing that ruins the salad. The dressing was really good and just enough to coat it and not soak everything. I ordered the lasagna and my wife ordered a pepperoni calzone. I had instant jealousy when he brought them out, that I wanted her choice. That calzone was almost too beautiful to eat. Let me tell you it even tasted better than it looked. My lasagna was awesome as well. Easy to spot it was homemade and piping hot, but the flavors were remarkable. Once again, wasn't doused in so much marinara either. So we tried to be good but ultimately ordered the blueberry crumble. It's made fresh on top of one of their homemade pizza doughs. Wow !!!!! I rated them 4/5 for total overall experience. The service was really great and the guy at the front was really kind and patient. The pepperoni pizza was alright and the ranch ok. The wings were good, the Stromboli had great crust, the caesar salad was very good with fresh croutons and the fettuccini with chicken was good. I loved the focaccia breadstick that came with the meal and if there was a bit more garlic and cheese for the fettuccini it would've been great. Again, for overall experience it was wonderful and we will definitely come back to try that blueberry dessert! read more
