Sausage and Beef plate with collard greens and potato salad. So good!
    Joseph F.

Randomly found this place while driving around on our honeymoon. Passed it twice and each time the parking lot was jumpin so we decided to stop in for dinner. Let me tell you, it was worth it! Walk in and its immediately obvious this is a local joint that only worries about the food and not the ambiance. Which is perfect: spend less time ensuring your tables match and more time focused on your bar-b-q. Service was friendly without being obnoxious, you order at the counter and they bring you the meal. We decided to get two 2 meat plates so we could try all four meats (math is fun!). The plates come with two sides, so we got the classics: mac n cheese, potato salad, black eyed peas and okra gumbo. Everything was fantastic. Juicy brisket, fall off the bone ribs and chicken and the sausage was amazing! The sauce is a great compliment to the meat, it doesnt cover up the flavor like some chain restaurants need to do. We got the peach cobbler for dessert and while it was tasty, we both would have preferred it warm instead of cold. Overall this place is worth the drive out and we will be back next time we are in the area.

Gem of a place that serves delicious home cooking. From catfish to juicy burgers, you can't go wrong. They also serve daily specials and homemade pie.

This is one of those true "holes in the wall" that is very good They have several different BBQ plates that are very reasonably priced. They come with two sides. I had the ribs. Meat was tender and fell off the bone. Numerous side dishes. I didn't get my usual okra, but had black eyed peas and fried zucchini. Had about seven large ribs that resulted in some take home for later. Wife had a hamburger she really liked. Everything was very tasty!

Chicken Fried Steak (real steak), Mashed Potatoes and Blackeyed Peas. Absolutely delicious.

I was recently in the hospital and my nurse, who is from Seguin, was talking to me about BBQ, since I live in the BBQ Capitol of Texas. She told me that if she wanted BBQ, she went to Luling. But, at the same time, she told me about Johnny's BBQ and their awesome pies and catfish. I had to check it out. I had the fried catfish, along with coleslaw and blackeyed peas. The catfish was worth the stop. I got a Coconut Cream Pie, to take home, and it was awesome.Like any place, they have some items, that are better than others, and I was given the heads up. I am headed back down their, to try their chicken fried steak.

For those of you who seem obsessed with the amount of pending drafts I have…read more and when I get them done and how many I do at a time... Take note, I'm now in my Seguin pending draft phase. I digress. Let's get this review going: This family-owned bbq joint opened their door just a couple of years ago (2023). Don't let this new establishment concern you because these folks have been at it for years. Their previous place was in Rosenberg and it opened back in 1990. Prior to that , the owner's parents started their first place back in 1964. Proper, generational barbecue...it's in their blood. In fact, I'm pretty sure their blood is bbq sauce. They know what they're doing! The restaurant and covered patio are modern and industrial with wood, brick, and metal elements. Ample seating inside and out. The food is bombastic! Sometimes they have an Italian beef sandwich that I'm just crazy about. Love these other sandwiches too: Brisket Turkey Sausage Boyfriend loves the pulled pork sandwich. The brisket nachos are mouth-watering goodness. They have brisket tostadas that I've not tried yet but definitely plan to. I lose my mind for the peach crumble and the boyfriend loves the pecan cobbler. Sides we love: Brisket rice!! Tater tot casserole!! Mac + cheese Buttered potatoes Do yourselves a favor, go pig out at this pit room. You'll be glad you did! PS: stellar service too

I went in today with my three-year-old son during lunch hour on a weekday and it just felt like the elder crowd was like "what are they doing here?" As I walked in. Now Maybe I'm a little guarded I mean, I'm a single full-time Dad prior military, so I'm protective and observant. Plus, some guy in a big ol truck of course ( mind you I have a truck) decided that he wanted to almost hit my son and I as we' attempted to walking across the parking lot. I digress, but it was to the extent that I didn't even want to sit inside, so we sat on the patio. Which reminds me 91° outside and the patio well well ventilated, w/ breeze and felt good. All in all just an iffy experience. Food was good not great turkey was dry but the baked potato salad will have me back through the drive-thru through.

Their brisket is divine and the sides we chose were out of this world. My husband loves their beans. The green beans were unique and I appreciated that they were super flavorful with tomatoes and delicious broth. The star of the show with the sides was the King Ranch Mac N Cheese!!!! I grew up on King Ranch Chicken Casserole as a child. So I was thrilled to have a macaroni with those delicious flavors. For a little history, that particular casserole emerged in the 1950s as a convenient, post-World War II Tex-Mex comfort food. Despite its name, it has no actual ties to Texas's famous King Ranch; instead, it is a creative, canned-soup-based casserole inspired by the Mexican dish chilaquiles. I am ususally underwhelmed by macaroni and cheese but this was the best. The macaroni shape was unusual and the closest I could find online was called "Radiator" because the similarity in shape to a radiator. It held the sauce perfectly though. McKayla helped us cart out our food to the car and was so sweet and helpful. We love Burnt Bean and plan to return!

You cannot try a wide variety of their dishes but it was enough for me. I had pick up at 10:30 and you just go to the back a bit of a wait like 10-15 minutes since they cut the meat to order. I got the brisket (2 lbs), pork ribs (2 lbs) , jalapeño sausage (1lb), and quart sizes of the corn pudding, tater tot dish, and hot cheeto mac and cheese. The stars were definitely the pork rib (super flavorful and tender), the brisket was fall apart tender, and the jalapeno sausage had a beautiful snap and is properly spicy. I was a bit disappointed with the sides. My favorite was probably the corn pudding but I still prefer a nice roasted corn OR a corn bread but this was a very unique combo of the two. The mac was okay and same with the tater tot side (honestly the potatoes were quite salty). The sauce isn't my favorite since I personally prefer a spicier sauce. The bread they have is very nice and the people are friendly. It's also quite smoky inside.

I asked the drive-thru employee, Enkenye, what came with the 40-piece meal. Her response was simply, **"I don't know."** I then asked if it came with sides or if it was listed somewhere on the menu that I was missing (it wasn't on the menu). She put me on hold, came back, and told me it included a family-size order of fries and a medium order of fries. Confused, I asked why it came with two orders of fries and whether I could substitute one of them for a different side. Her response through the speaker was, **"You're asking the wrong person."** I honestly didn't know how to respond, so I said, **"Well, you're the drive-thru person, so who should I be asking?"** If the employee taking orders can't answer basic questions about the menu, that's a management and training issue. To make matters worse, the drive-thru wait was around **25 minutes**, which is excessive for fast food. When I finally got to the window, I asked if the meal included pickles because every Bill Miller meal I've ever ordered has come with pickles. She asked, **"Did you order them?"** I said no because I assumed they came with the meal, and she looked at me and said, **"Nooooo, it doesn't come with pickles."** Seriously? A 40-piece family meal and you can't include a few pickles? It wasn't even about the pickles at that point--it was the dismissive attitude throughout the entire interaction. The food itself was fine, but customer service can absolutely ruin the experience. Between the lack of product knowledge, the rude responses, the 25-minute wait, and the unwillingness to provide something as simple as pickles, this visit was incredibly disappointing. I'll gladly drive farther to another location before returning to this one.

A local brought me here and he felt it was good, The prices here were definitely good compared to the ever-rising trend. There's also a toppings bar where you can top your BBQ to your desire. I grabbed an extra roll and BBQ sauce. I tried their #7 combo (2 bbq sandwiches, a side, and drink)...just $8.25! Well, the BBQ sauce was pretty bland and the coleslaw I chose as a side had no flavor. This is a Pepsi house for those Coke drinkers out there. I understand this is a chain restaurant. Although I was disappointed, I'd like to try other food options to see if other items taste good...but not BBQ items.
