This is my 4th time taking my dog to Johnnys. First couple times were fine. I really loved the last haircut she got so I asked to have that same groomer and he assured me she did. I took her in at 11:45 and when I didn't hear back by 5(when they close) I drove over. He mentioned she had been matted and they couldn't comb her out(I gave her a bath 3 days before and she was not matted. I did notice a ball of knots on her ear from her love of ears rubs and he assured me they could brush it out.) Anyway he mentioned they had to take her a little shorter.. however when I looked back they had just barely started her haircut... at 5 o clock. He said it'd be about 15 min and they would call. I had other plans at 5:30 and still hadn't heard back so I arranged my nephew to pick up my dog. When he got there at 5:45 they still weren't done and said it'd just be a few more minutes. He said when they brought Her out they said they had to take the hair on the ear shorter because of the knots and said that one side is shorter and they made it extra fluffy to look more even. Now that she's not as fluffy it's completely uneven! Like if you took one side shorter wouldn't it make sense to take the other side as short so it's not uneven? THIS ISNT EVEN THE WORSTE PART! I can handle the bad haircut.. but ever since she's gotten him she just lays around and when she does walk you can tell she gets irritated in her under parts and immediately licks it to relieve the discomfort. I looked her over to see what was going on and she was so red and splotchy like a razor burn. It's so sad! I have referred a handful of people and have told them to discontinue they're service. Horrible haircut, horrible communication, and horrible care for dogs. I've already made my next appt at another location. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Johnny's Doghouse. We stumbled upon this place after having a bad experience at a different dog day camp and now I can't imagine taking my dog anywhere else. Every time I pick up my dog after a stay she is happy, calm, and clean. She truly enjoys staying there and gets so excited every time we walk through the door. Wouldn't recommend. From the moment i walked in the two receptionists didn't address me or even look my way until their conversation was over. I drop my dog off and they tell me it'll be 3-4 hours & they'll give me a call when she's done. 4 1/2 hours later i have to call them to follow up & no one answers the phone. I get a call back and they tell me it's gonna be a few more hours, which i politely asked how much longer she thinks it would take because my dog has to eat. She responds she'll have to ask and give me a call right back. I never got a call back so i picked up my dog and took her home unserviced. I took my 6 lb fur baby to this place last weekend and she has been sick!! I would not recommend and will NEVER again come to this place! Firstly this huge dog came flying over the gate upon arrival not once but twice (scared my puppy terribly!). I had instructed not to cut the top of her head or tail and they did. I can get over that and hair grows back. What ensued the night coming back and several days after - she has been sick. I don't walk my dog on the street she's carried everywhere and this was the only place she's been outside the home. This place is dirty and would recommend taking your dog elsewhere. I did mention that her hair was cut but didn't want to make an issue. She does leave my house and has been going to a previous groomer every two weeks and NEVER been sick. We loved thier approach of testing social skills to see if there would be any issues being in the main dog communal area. staff was very nice and made us feel they would give our 11 year old dog the loving environment she is used to. Driving from California to have my fur-baby groomed here is SO worth it!!!! I also go here since my family lives in Gilbert and I visit about every two months, so it works in my favor that this awesome place is here. I really appreciate that the dogs get to roam around and play in the open space so they are calm when they start getting groomed. But what I really appreciate is that the dogs are groomed in their own space, to reduce the excitement from other dogs or people. I've been taking Yogi here for a little over a year now, and every time my dog gets more and more excited about visiting. I know she is treated well here, because the minute she walks in the door she quickly forgets about me and runs to go play and doesn't look back. I def recommend this groomers for anyone who wants to provide exceptional grooming care to your four-legged family members, and make sure they are enjoying the experience of grooming and looking forward to it each time. While also giving your dog room to play and walk around while waiting before or after grooming. They even have a little outside patio area for them to have their bathroom breaks. I can not say that for many grooming places, who lock up your fur baby for 3-5 hours at a time, stress them out by rushing through the processes. This place is really about your dog having a calm and happy experience. You can really tell the owners and staff love what they do, and know that clients and profits will grow as long as you do what you love and treat your clients (dog and pawrents) with mindfulness. I recently moved and was nervous about taking my pups to a new groomer. My poodle is used to getting groomed but was LONG overdue (given the pandemic and then moving). The dachschund has only ever been to the groomer once or twice in his 12 years and he was none too pleased with the experience when he DID go, but he desperately needed a nail trim. I reached out to Johnny's (based on my new location and their reviews) and decided to give them a try. When I came to pick them up, it was like I had new dogs! They were CALM and FRESH and HAPPY and absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Kristal did a SPECTACULAR job! I really appreciated that she spent a little time chatting with me at first to make sure we were on the same page about what she was going to do and to get my input. She made an instant connection with my dachshund (which is not common for him), and I can tell my pups spent their time being pampered and loved and cared for. I added on the aromatherapy and hydrotherapy and honestly have to admit that I'm a little jealous at how relaxed they both are right now! I will absolutely be back and may also start taking the dachshund for regular visits! Not because he needs it as frequently, but because he just seems like he had a really good experience! Our little man looks awesome after his haircut! In the past, we've picked up Jasper from other groomers and noted his stress or annoyance. He used to hide under the bed/snap at us after we took him to the groomer. Today, after trying out Alo's, he was so happy and couldn't stop smiling when (despite his mean mug in the attached photo). We're very satisfied and will be back. ****** EDIT: Had to modify this review because we recently brought our two dogs here. One came in for a nail trimming, and it was about 2 hours before she was done. For our other dog, it took **4.5 hours** for his wash and cut to be completed. We called the salon three times throughout the process and no one answered the phone. We became concerned, so I came in to check and see if he was ready. When I arrived, he wasn't ready. At that point it had been four hours. The owner just told me that he had warned the woman who dropped off the dogs (my mom) that it would "take a while." I checked with my mom and she said she didn't receive that kind of a warning. It's possible she was told it would take awhile but not explicitly told it would take up to five hours? Either way, I left and told them to call when my dog was done. They called us about forty minutes later. My husband and I picked up our dog and attempted to speak to the owner about our concerns. He didn't make eye contact with us for about 30 seconds, opting to look at his computer screen instead. When he eventually did talk to us, he essentially said, "Yeah, well we're really busy and you should have known it would take while. Sorry, but your dog looks good" He didn't offer a discount or any kind of remedy to the situation. He seemed irritated. I understand that COVID put a lot of businesses in a bad situation. But this business shouldn't have scheduled so many appointments if they didn't have the staff/resources to complete all the haircuts in a timely manner. I liked this place much more when it was Alo's. We won't return. Haircuts were fine. Front desk staff was kind but unprofessional, she complained to the owner about another customer in front of me. read more

On our last grooming disappointing. I had asked for a 8 blade like I had the last time I was told we don't have 8 blades.I can tell the difference last time was a 8 blade. When the pups were picked up the 10# dog and the 18 # dogs hit the sixty- five dollar mark on the small dog charges fo 55-65 dollars. The last time I was in I was charged 55.00 per dog It seems the charge depends on who is collecting With all the irregularities I know I won't be coming back. I love the vibe here. Very comfortable and easy going. For a stray at a pound, my dog did very good with them here. They know how to treat your pet well and they know their cuts! My pup came out looking like a brand new dog. They top him off with a tropical spray and lei, and send him off. I think their pricing is competitive.
