We stopped by for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the Sunrise Angus Burger and upgraded with Onion Rings. The burger was perfectly cooked right off the grill and juicy. The bacon was cooked nicely with a fried egg on top. Just let your server know how you like your egg cooked. My sister had the Black and Blue Burger with Blue cheese and she was very happy. I went here for lunch this past Saturday, and had a great experience! We sat at the bar, and the bartender was very attentive. I ordered a salad with ahi tuna, and it was amazing!! Went there for our anniversary, eager to try the prime rib. Appetizer and salad good. Then came the "prime" rib, ...our served encouraged us to get it seared/charred, as "it really brings the flavor out." It was served cold, with sear marks all over it, a tad rare. So they tool it back for a warm up, which took close to 10 minutes, while my husband ate...served it slightly improved, but for $25, the quality just wasn't there; mediocre at best. Next, I tried the green beans...wondered if they'd even been washed-I gagged a couple of times on stems that hadn't been removed. So the hostess/(manager)? shows up. I told her I guess they got the steak right...showed her the stems off of the green beans-she said, oh, it only looks like a couple...told her I gagged on a couple more..."Sorry"...Waitress shows up, by that time I showed her a half dozen stems..."Oh..." Doggy bagged the meat for my dogs (really, my dogs)! Received the bill IN FULL!!! We will not be back, we will go to Black Rock next. Or for local, we'll try Signature Chop House. My first time here, but from what I can tell, one of the best places to eat in the Flushing area. Big menu, good selection of local craft brews, great wait staff and the owner John Rowe makes the rounds and gets to know his patrons. They expanded to. a second dining area with a bar, which is a good sign. The place was busy on the Friday night we were there, but our group of 7 didn't have to wait to be seated. Food was great, clam chowder was delish, and the fried perch was very good and lightly coated. Overall a really nice experience and everyone in our group was happy. Nice to see locally-owned, quality places like this in Flushing, let's hope Johnny's is around for a long time. read more

The atmosphere is great, I ordered the fish and chips which is almost impossible to mess up so I would give a 4 star on that dish. My wife ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and that was also great. The only knock is the service. It was not busy at all and it took 35-40 min to get the dishes to our table. I will eat there again and update my review as i see fit. read more

We have been to Johnny's plenty of times. The food is very good. The drinks are great. They have a vegetarian wrap with hummus and grilled veggies. My favorite. Hubby loves the steak, burgers, and sandwiches. They are open for breakfast and the breakfast prices are very reasonable. The owner stops by to check on his guests, and I really like that. My only 2 complaints are that the service has been very slow the last 3 times that we have been there, and the hostess in the evening wears so much perfume, that it makes me want to gag. Faster service and less perfume and this place would get at least 4 1/2 stars. read more

My friend and I were at Johnny's about 7 weeks ago and the filet was delicious. And we both like the French onion soup. We were happy with the food and the service. So we decided to go again the filet was tough and nasty so the server took it back and they cooked a new one. And it was also tough and chewy. Not good for a filet to be that way. The only good thing was the French onion soup. Our bills were each 29.51 for bad steak. Server was good. Don't think we will try it again. read more

I've eaten in twice and had take out once. My first meal there was a plate of Nachos and Corona. Excellent meal! Plentiful, fresh, hit and yummy! Service was great. The second time I chose the Beef Dip and because it was chilly and drizzling, I order an Irish Coffee to warm up. The sandwich was good, fries were good: what one would expect. My Irish Coffee was pitiful! Nothing more than a cup of black coffee with a shot of whiskey in it. No creamy finish (I expect a genuine Irish Coffee when I order.) when I asked what gives the simple reply was "that's how we make them." Uh...no...there are no "versions" of Irish Coffee. Disappointing. The take out meal was simple enough: fish & chips. I live less than 1.5 miles so expected a quality meal. NOT! The fish was dry, tough, and flavorless. If I could rate them separately I would give the food 5 stars and the service 1 star. Instead, I averaged the two of them together. I've been there several times in the past 2 months for both lunch and dinner and the food is always great. We've had other guests there with us that have tried many different menu items and everyone has enjoyed the food immensely. The service, however, leaves a lot to be desired. We've had three different servers and all of them were very hurried with their order-taking, which led to missing and incorrect items. Further, they leave you for inordinately long time periods, so you have to go very slow on drinks and hope that one napkin is enough for the entire meal. Slow down, check back every 5 minutes, and smile every now and then and this place turns into a 5-star restaurant. read more

Flushing used to have a family Pub-like restaurant that everyone in town went to(almost everyone). That owner retired and the new owners appealed to a rather Motly bunch. The staff were all let go, and now the new owner's son is running it, into a hole.........Now the good(great) news.. Johnny"s pour house has bloomed into Our-town's new Family style PUB-like restaurant.The owner is quite an affable guy, and he tends to business. The atmosphere is "just what you want" in a casual Pub. The food is a couple of steps ABOVE the usual Bar-food, And priced very fairly, the staff of Johnny's is impeccable, and the hostess makes it all seem to be Family, loved family. Nice ambiance. Decent service. Good beer selection? I don't know. They don't have a beer menu. Bars have food menus to help you decide what you want to eat. There's no excuse for not having a beer menu when you have dozens of beers. I usually get the "what kind of beer do you like?" from the bartender. Hell I don't know. I like all kinds of beer. Great place good atmosphere, warm and inviting cool bar set up and portions are generous. I got the buffalo burger and it was awesome for a lean burger added bacon of course had fries with it which was extra. But overall a great place especially after a stroll in downtown flushing. read more

They just raised prices. A 6.95 hamburger went to $9.95. A three dollar increase is unacceptable. They have seen the last of us.

Some of my co-workers and I decided to go here for lunch today. They had been here before and I hadn't. The food didn't disappoint. It was seriously good. I had the fish and chips and they were great! The fish was battered perfectly and the meat was flaky and white. The fries were delicious. I also ordered their Spinach & Artichoke dip with tortilla chips for us to share and it was top notch. Was pleasantly surprised at the food. Now.. Why did I rate it a 3? The service was horrible and it was COMPLETELY the waitress we had. From start to finish starting with me waiting 5 plus mins to ever be seated (no sign to seat yourself) or looked at by the staff. If it was busy i would be understanding however there were 2 waitresses and maybe 3 tables going. It took another 10 mins to even get someone to come over and take our drink orders. She acted put out the entire time and never smiled. Never before have I ran into such a rude or unhappy waitress as I did here. My co-workers and I all were looking at each other wondering why she was so rude. She didn't pay attention to our table much at all. We had to ask if we needed a re-fill and both times she forgot and we had to ask again one of the times even having to bother the other waitress. When we politely pointed out at the end that one of the check were wrong (she had put iced tea on one co-workers bill and should have been on the other) she literally grabbed the check rudely out of her hand and replied in a sarcastic tone that it was easy to fix. I really hope someone is able to maybe talk to her or something. We had amazing food, really liked the place but the waitress made it a really odd and uncomfortable lunch. Perhaps that is why the place was nearly empty during a Friday and lunch rush hours. Great food but a rude waitress will keep people away. Best of luck to this place, who ever cooks.. Not a bad place but every time I've been there its noisy to the point i cant hear any one at my table. Food is a good, better then most sports bar fare. Beer and wine offered is ok Not much else to say, in Flushing there are other places with equal food a little more character and a lot quieter. I have been to Johnny's for dinner on several occasions and enjoyed my meal. Went for lunch on a friday. I was surprised to see they had no designated lunch menu. We were one of three tables and there were 2 waitstaff. Service was marginal. I ordered the veggie wrap after being told it had the fresh vegetables of the day in it. It ended up being soggy frozen mixed medley. I mean come on! baby carrots, cauliflower, broccoli and celery with some salad lettuce and chopped tomatoes on a cold tortilla wrap. YUCK! a little more effort would have been appreciated (you could have julienned them at least). Homemade chips were good. read more
