When you think of classic bar food you think of comfort and satisfying taste enough to leave your buzz of bar food continuing. This is not the Johnny's you are looking for. If you have ever seen an episode of Bar Rescue where the managers are sleazy and encourage the patrons to be so as well. Then this will seem like a re-run. I have never seen a wait and bar staff so disrespected and objectionalized as this franchise. Which is quite disappointing. This chain has been example of success for many markets, and this location shows great potential. It also has the potential to sink this entire company. Cannot believe that the assistant managers (male) would stand with patrons and say things about there staff as "I don't need a picture of her a** I have it right here in my head." This is just the beggining. This was said loudly and clearly from across the bar from roughly 20 feet away. There also seems to be some FOH gender issues, but not as to uniform requirements as all FOH staff were allowed to wear any manner shirt or skirt/exercise leggings/short/jean. The only common theme was gender, execpt for management staff. Which at the time seem woefully underrepresented. Please due note this is only an observance of limited visits. I cannot plausibly know the hiring practices of this privately held company. Nick the GM has done an exceptional job at the location in power and light and when he seems to be on the floor the demeaning chatter from the associate/assistant manager and patrons limits itself. He commands respect, sadly when he is absent from operational duties. The harassment of the FOH staff was ever present. The quality of food was standard for the franchise. Pizza tasted fresh, fried food tasted as if it were frozen and mass produced. Tacos were unauthentic, but run of the mill sports bar quality. The facilities were clean and unreconstructed. Parking was plentiful. Appetizers are oversized. Lighting was appropriate on the inside with plentiful windows. Patio has a cheap fire pit with many cigarette butts, and a front row veiw of a taco bell drive thru. read more

We always enjoy the burgers at Johnny's. I tried the boneless wings this last visit and liked them a lot. The spicy ones were just a little spicy. I usually like a little more spice, but since this was lunch, it worked out well. The service is usually really good as well. The waitress or waiter tends to be very attentive, keeping my drink full, asking if we need anything, without being annoying. Love the atmosphere, especially when there are some good games on. Good place to go with family or friends. read more

I have had several good experiences at this restaurant, so I expected the same this go around. My parents and I visited for dinner and we were greeted by a less than pleasant host with shaggy hair, probably 17 years old. He was neither friendly nor helpful. We asked for a booth (and I could see a couple were available) but he told me there weren't any. When I pointed one out, he turned around and noticed another that was directly behind his host stand and sat us there. Dropped the menus and left. Certainly started things off on a bad note. Our waitress was someone I would avoid if I came back again too. I guess there isn't a dress code for this restaurant but I didn't expect to see that amount of cleavage at Johnny's Tavern. When I dine with my parents, I don't take them to Hooters, I'll put it that way. She did not think to offer a substitution and/or price match for the Rebel IPA they were out of. We let her know the dressing my dad asked for was not the right kind and she said the balsamic was on its way, but we had finished eating and it never did come to the table. We asked if they were pretty busy and she said "Busier than last night... I only left with $25 in tips last night". Awkward conversation and poor service will probably steer me toward downtown lees summit the next time. Be careful with the staff you hire, Johnny's. They can make or break your restaurant. read more

One of my favorite sports bars in town. They do a great job at service and selection.

Went there for the second time last night, and was very disappointed. The food was terrible. We got the nachos which were disgusting and sen t them back, the wings which had no flavor nor did the potato skins. Will not eat there again. I sat for 10 minutes for my waitress when we got there but she made up for it with the rest of the service and was great. The bartender cares more for flirting then working.... read more

Went here for the grand opening and they were already organized and had great food! The only thing is it is very LOUD in there with all the tv's and it was very busy. We had to yell to hear each other at the table. But overall very impressed. The patio was very cool! read more

We( me and my friend goes here weekly) Best Waitress Amber, she needs a acknowledgement of her serving skill! Then there's Danielle, we needed salt and saw our server ......NO IT WAS DANIELLE and she yelled at us by passing 'PLEASE' very loudly as I am hearing impaired ,I think Price Chopper heard it too. Has not been confirmed. We got our salt packets and spoke with Rae aka manager. Rae was very professional and apologetic about DANIELLE yelling at customers . I'm old but not ignorant please have a talk /chat with DANIELLE about the tone of her voice as it scares us coming out of no where. Food was fabulous, drinks were cold. Amber was sweet and very skillful with her job! I would like to request her next time not DANIELLE. She need a class of etiquette 101. And fast! Johnny's is a sports bar, and you just don't get better than this in that category! We have been regulars since it opened, and Nick the manager is awesome, calls us by name, knows our favorite table, always stops by to chat, etc. In September I celebrated my 50th birthday at Johnny's! So many televisions (and most in HD) it'll make your head spin. Booths have their own tv on the wall, plus there are outlets on the wall of the booths in case you need to recharge your devices (our teenager loves that!) We love happy hours at Johnny's; they have the best specials in town. $5 appetizers (I love the loaded potato skins, and hubby loves the buffalo chicken dip), draft beers for $2.75, well drinks for $3 plus you can make it a double for just $2 more. Also...don't miss the Wednesday special - it's so special it's not even on the menu! Chicken fried steak or chicken breast, mashed potatoes, both smothered in gravy, and bacon/onion green beans with Texas toast, all for $8.99. And it's Wednesday today! My husband & I enjoy going to this Johnny's for some drinks & to watch the games. There are lots of TVs & we also enjoy the patio with the fire pit. We've had pretty good service everytime we've been but the food is just okay for us. The location is great though & that's what keeps us coming back! read more

We are at Johnny's Tavern for the second time this evening. The first time we were there, I had just bought a new car. It was fine when we walked in to watch a game, but when we left It was dented due to vandalism. I almost did not return tonight, but went ahead and went back and I'm sure glad I did. Our waitress Molly was a really great person , going out of her way to help us and just was a good person to getting know. She made the visit worthwhile and erased some of the negative feelings with her treatment of us. I would love to return and will request her again as our waitress, just so we can see our new friend. We look forward to another visit, and wish we had one in Blue Springs where we live. read more

We came to watch the game on Christmas Sunday which is inevitably busy of course. Our waitress, Malissa, failed to great us and seemed annoyed by our presence as we continued to try and engage with her. She was very rude and unprofessional in explaining their policy on picking up other people's tabs. She insisted that we speak to her manager and then refused to give us service. The manager came over and spoke with us and she was very pleasant and sent someone else over to take care of us. Shayna gave us fine service despite our rough start. Even after Shayna came to take care of us, Malissa made it clear that she was upset and continued to glare at us and make all of us very uncomfortable. We ended up leaving the restaurant before the game was over because of it. I'm very disappointed with how Malissa behaved and I'm not sure if I'll be returning. Well...... we were excited to see a Johnny's tavern come to Lee's Summit, especially considering the proximity to my home, but that excitement soon faded into disappointment. I have visited this particular establishment twice now, and I must say that the latest visit was much worse than the first, which is quite difficult to accomplish as the bar was set so low from the initial visit. On the initial visit it was apparent that the bar tenders were much less than attentive. Please allow me to say that I am not a difficult customer and spent 8 years as a bar tender myself, thus I understand the strains and stress of the service industry and dealing with the difficult customers. I only point the aforementioned out as it is a litmans test, of sorts, for the quality of service and the knowledge of staff. I refuse to call any individual out, but will say emphatically that if you are expecting attention, proper orders being delivered to you, orders of any kind being delivered in a timely manner, or a properly made cocktail, dont stop here. read more
