I took it back to the shop and they told me it had essentially no coolant in it. I immediately asked the technicians why there was no coolant. They told me, "It was filled up when it was here." When I asked, "Then why is there no coolant in it now?", they couldn't give me an explanation beyond repeating that they had filled it. The car continued losing coolant and overheating. I brought it back multiple times, and I was repeatedly told that they had pressure-tested the cooling system and that there were no pressure issues and everything was fine. They also told me there were no warning lights indicating a problem. Meanwhile, I was constantly having to refill the coolant and pull over when the car overheated. One time I had to sit on the side of the road for about 45 minutes waiting for a friend to bring me coolant just so I could get the car home without overheating it. Eventually the car broke down on the highway and had to be towed. After all those previous visits where I was assured the cooling system was fine, I was finally told that the head gasket had blown and that replacing the engine would cost around $6,000. After I challenged that price, the estimate was suddenly reduced to around $3,000. I'm not upset that a Subaru developed a mechanical problem. I'm upset that I repeatedly reported coolant loss and overheating, and I was repeatedly told the cooling system was fine. The car eventually suffered a major failure anyway. I don't trust this shop and I won't be taking another vehicle there. If you're dealing with a recurring mechanical problem, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before continuing to rely on their diagnosis

The place to go for oil changes, inspections and repairs!…read more I have been a long-time customer of this business. The guys at Hope Valley 66 auto repair shop always contact you within a timely basis to give you a reasonable estimate on any repairs that you may need. They will not suggest unnecessary repairs and will not try to overcharge you on service. Getting oil changes and inspections here is a breeze, I never have to wait very long, especially if I arrive in the morning on a weekend. If you need a more complex maintenance service or repair performed, generally you need to bring in your vehicle on a weekday for the mechanic to perform diagnostics. Whenever I have had to drop off my car for such a service, I will receive a call within a few hours after diagnostics are complete, with an estimate to approve of the repair. Usually, the repair (brake work for example) is complete by the end of the day. On occasion, a repair might take longer than that due to waiting on a part to arrive or some other factor but rarely do I have to wait more than a day or so. Be aware that this is an independent shop, not part of a large dealership chain or something, so the waiting area is fairly small and spartan. I believe there is free Wi-Fi available but have not had to use it for any period of time. Again, Hope Valley 66 offers solid, reliable service for very reasonable rates and I would recommend them easily.

Came in with an issue with my AC not working intermittently, paid over $400 for a diagnostic and…read morenew blower motor. By the time I drove my car home the AC wasn't working again. Brought it back in, they said the actual issue was a compressor wire rubbing against something. They had the gall to attempt to charge me for another "diagnostic fee" to find the same issue they should've found when I brought it in for the week prior. When I argued over why I was being charged another diagnostic fee, the manager said "it's a different issue than what you brought it in for last time, last time you said it wasn't blowing air at all." That is absolutely not what I said. I said the AC was not blowing cool air consistently, but it was still blowing air. When I informed the manager of this he got noticeably flustered and immediately took the diagnostic fee off of my check, which made me suspicious. So I did some research and spoke with my mechanic buddy, I discovered that my car had NONE of the symptoms of a bad blower motor when I brought it in to this Firestone. Yet their $80 "diagnostic" found that, that was main problem. Which, obviously was NOT the issue with my car. So I reluctantly paid for the $120 labor cost to move and repair a compressor wire. Again, before I could even get home my air conditioning was not working. So I brought it in for a third and final time and told them I am not paying for any more work and they need to fix the issue that I've had for the past 3 trips to this Firestone. The issue ended up being another wire that was hanging by a thread and it took them 3 times to find it. It would've cost around $120 total to fix the actual problem with my car, but I ended up paying over $600 for their mistakes, laziness, and parts I DIDNT NEED. Make sure you know your car better than these guys or they'll end up taking advantage of your lack of knowledge squeezing $600 out of your $100 problem.

They performed the oil change well enough, but they always seem to be a bit less welcoming when you state that you don't want the tire rotation service. My main issue, however, is that they did not appear to top off my fluids although they include a $6-plus charge for that service on your bill, according to the genial woman who checked me in. I ended up having to buy washer fluid myself to refill my vehicle's reservoir. Also, I would have liked to have gotten the checklist of systems they checked, and the videos they used to provide. Did they not check everything because I didn't want to have the tire rotation? I don't like having to think about that possibility. I'll likely still go there for oil changes, but I am hopeful service will be a little better overall.

Save time & money: go elsewhere!!!…read more My wife had a flat tire, and made the mistake of having it towed to AAA Car Care at South Square. They decided that all four tires needed to be replaced, plus a couple other things, and quoted over a thousand dollars (!!!). I said how about you patch the flat tire and I'll come pick it up- which they refused (!!!- professing deep concern about our "safety" lol). Since it was now mid-afternoon the day before Independence Day, I had to scramble to find another shop to tow it to ON MY OWN DIME (the lack of a spare tire is another story). Luckily I was able to find one and they patched the tire for $32; all the tires are just fine (no evidence of "dry rot" as claimed by AAA). This is a great place to go if you're itching to spend extra for stuff you don't need; otherwise you should GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

At first I thought I did something wrong, so I asked another customer to help, but it did the same thing to him. Then, I went inside to ask for help. There were 3 men behind the counter, no customers. I explained what was happening and they completely dismissed me. Then I told them a man had tried also, and they sighed and came out. Then they acknowledged it was broken. The sexism on display and unwillingness to help the customer was so rude. I will say he offered to help with the spare, but I called GEICO roadside instead. I had to practically beg for a drink during the 1 hour GEICO wait. Like really? My car was drivable before coming there. Then I realized there was tape dispenser sitting on the air machine when they came out to put the out of order sign on it. Hmmm. So how often does this happen?
