Asked for a mid skin fade, simple enough. Looks like got half of my head right then must have got cut happy or messed up or something on the other side. Went all the way with no fade at all really. I was going to give 2 stars for the beard trim but even that was messed up when I got home and looked at it. Some spots and not evenly cut. Disappointed after seeing all the good reviews. This is one more that falls into the ranks of: meh. Nothing stands out as good, it's all just underwhelming and oozes mediocrity. The barbers were not friendly, and seemed too caught up in their tattoos and and music and trying to play the part of the super cool barber. The place is industrial and cold and devoid of any real character. And the piece de la resistance was the disappointing haircut. My hair is easy, and my instructions clear. Called ahead, explained my son's hair type (curly, shoulder length) & asked if they can trim and shape it up. I was told it was no problem, they can cut it & booked an appt for next day. When we arrived, I realized I didn't know who we were scheduled with. One of the barbers said "any of us can take you next" and I made a comment that the barber needs to be able to cut curly hair. Another barber said "you'll be good, everyone here's good barbers". The barber that took us next, looked at my sons hair in confusion. I explained we just needed a trim. The barber shook his head & said he didn't want to take his chances. We looked at the other barbers to see who could take my son next, 2 of them said they were fully booked and the rest, no response & avoided eye contact. I also read that they charge an extra $5 for an appointment. When you arrive, it's so packed there's no where to sit. It's not really an "appointment". You don't get to choose your barber, it's first come first serve, but if you have an appointment, you're "next" to who ever is available. Horrible customer service and all my kid needed was a trim. I really wanted to like this barbershop but after my 5th cut I gave up. The shop is nice but the staff can be better in terms of being more personable. My first cut was from a guy who said he cuts on and off (let's call him Minnesota). I'm thinking "great I get a guy who doesn't do this regularly". My cut is a tapered skin to a number 2 undercut but blend in the back. He said he understood but midway through the cut his ask if I have a picture. After reiterating the cut he was able to provide an ok cut. Second cut was good but I realized that they don't face you towards the mirror. It's like one of those makeover shows. Once you're done, a handheld mirror is handed to you. What's the point of having these big Ikea mirrors if no one gets to look at them? You have no idea what's going on until you're done. Fifth cut and everything in-between was ok. I decided not to come back because the barbers are always talking to each other and not the customer. Also, the owner wasn't there during my cut and the barbers were tearing into this mom after she left with her kid. The kid who I thought was sitting in the dad's lap was instead a barber or a friend of the staff. I thought it was pretty cool that they kept the child calm until they left. They all started talking about whether they would hit that or not. I'm like WTF focus on my cut but this carried on even when I left. CC charges are always a mystery. Your charges will reflect the barber's personal info and not the shops name. Looks like barbershop but feels like a deli with the ticket dispenser and number shouting. read more

Love the cuts I get from this place and the price I get it for. All the barbers I've had cut my hair were really good and gave me exactly what I wanted. One of the rare shops around here that can actually do a proper skin fade (when you push your hand up from your neck, it should feel like sandpaper.) Only problem I have is that you gotta wait during "normal" times like after work or on a weekend. This isn't really the shop's fault but that fact is it definitely discourages me from going here for every cut. I'll go when I have a day off or something or a lazy weekend. They do take appointments but that's an extra 5 bucks, and considering that fact that their cuts are $17, thats like almost a 1/3 cost increase, so not really worth it to me. Overall love this place, wish it was bigger so I didn't have to wait as long. read more

I love this place! It took me a while to find a friendly barber shop. The level of hair cutting is something I haven't seen before (my son has had his share of bad hair cuts). Great haircut and I do mean great haircut. Tony does know how to cut hair. The reason for the two stars is the shave was the worst shave I've had. He nicked me a lot. There is one cut on my chin that is more of a slice. I get we all have are off days but when you have a razor you need to be more careful. It's been two hours and the chin is still bleeding. Hmmm...had several good cuts from this place in the past, and yes, the wait times are tough. A few weeks ago, they cut my hair and it did not go well. I instructed them to use clipper setting (or blade guard) 5 for the top and 3 on the sides. I shared that I get my cut about every 3-4 weeks. Easy. Unfortunately, the barber must have thought I meant millimeters, not blade guard sizes. So he totally butched me. Also, he placed my seat position such that I could not see what he was doing until he was all finished. Now that it has been a few weeks, I wanted to return to see if they can clean it up but based on the majority of the reviews here, it does it appear my situation is that unusual and (seeing the reviews) it would be my fault this time if they got it wrong. read more

Don't expect anything special, this shop is sub par at best. Lack of character or personality is immense. Little to no connection made with the clientele (unless you know people there), which is huge when you're cutting someone else's hair. You should at least get to know what kinda style they're going for so the chances of a poor cut can be reduced. The only positive comment I have is the amount of time it took for the cut, which was also probably the reason I was unsatisfied with my cut. I hardly ever go to barbershops bc they always rush and never take they're time. The amount I paid was outrageous but i still tipped 20% out of common courtesy. Something to do with a hot towel shave but they're where no hot towels involved so idk why I was taxed so damn much... would only recommend this place for the most basic cuts and kids. I've been going to John since 2005, back when he was working at twin peaks off Raymond in lake forest. I followed him even when I was living in Los Angeles! I would drive down to get a haircut because we all know it's hard to find one that you can trust with your hair. My review is a 1 star because I made an appointment yesterday afternoon to go see john at 4 pm because Andy is off till Wednesday and I didn't wanna wait. I made an appointment with one of their female barbers Monday afternoon. When I got to the shop, excited to get a cut from John, I told him I had an appointment with him. What I got was him shaking his head letting me know that I didn't have an appointment today. I reiterated the fact that I specifically requested him today for 4 pm and I made the appointment the day before. He just kept shaking his head no and opened his appointment book and showed me that it's for the next day, Wednesday. At this point, all i wanted was for him to acknowledge the mistake that has happened and hopefully talk to whoever set the appointment for me, but all I got was a shrug and him shaking his head and showing me his appointment book that it's for the next day. I just found it completely unprofessional. For 11 years I've been loyal to him and his business, and he couldn't even take responsibility for the mistake that was made by his staff when it came to appointment setting. Didn't even get an apology also. I walked out flabbergasted. I'm happy for the growth that his business has gotten, it's great to see an entrepreneur start small and take his passion to new heights. The only thing that I wished is that he gave me some credit and made an exception for being loyal to him for 11 years. read more

I received a good quality haircut so if that's all you're looking for, you will be set! However, the price for a men's cut on the internet is listed at 17, the price on the wall is listed at 19, and the price quoted by my barber was 21. On the phone, I was told no wait to get in, but when I arrived about 15 minutes later, there was a wait and they were quite busy. Also, they spent more than a couple minutes getting Netflix setup on the TV instead of just getting going with my haircut. Ok so I see the reviews. Yes I admit the first few Times were tough. As soon as I got the 3rd hair cut down and started to understand they were all different barbers with different styles. It's amazing. As for the wait.... you're going to wait and wait and wait. Don't get there late for an appointment. Bring your headphones and play games on your phone. People who complain about the parking crack me up. "Ohh no I have to park 3 spaces further than what I should be, because I'm a privileged south county brat." Needless to say, I've been going back ever since. John and his whole crew of barbers will take care of any type of cut you need. And, it's one of the fastest barber shops for walk ins. They butchered my hair. This was one of the worst haircuts I've ever gotten. This was my first time there. I was rushed and the only time I even saw a mirror was at the end when the barber put a small mirror in front of me for 1/2 a second. Seems he did not want me to see the results. I was a little intimidated the first time walking in here. The barbers are all fairly young and seem pretty cool. I've had three different barbers; each one was very nice and more importantly, provided a haircut that I was happy with. Kevin is my guy I go to, and he is a beast with his clippers! He takes his time, listen to your requests, a real down to earth dude and most importantly gets what you want spot on every single time! Make yourself a regular and book an appointment. It's an extra $5, but sure is worth it, because the wait can be especially long. I've been there a few times with no appointment, look in and came out because there was about 20-25 people waiting ahead of me (New Years Eve Mistake!)
