Absolutely love this place, this is my go to restaurant for Chinese food, and the egg flower soup is bomb

Best Chinese in Salem area. huge portions, white meat chicken, very hot and fresh. The Mandarin Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef are all scrumptious, really good egg rolls. Love this place! read more

This is our family's favorite place to eat. We eat here more than twice a month. The mandarin chicken is amazing. The portions are so large that my family of four splits two plates which come out so quickly! We love the waitresses- who no longer have to ask our order! Ordered ahead for take-out. When we got there no one had taken our order. Three employees claimed we must have called a different restaurant. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Salem area. One of the reasons I like it is that it has a drive up window. That's great when I want take-out and it is raining really hard. I go here a lot in the winter. I often just pick up a large egg-drop soup. We also like their egg foo young. The vegetables are crisp and the sauce is not too heavy. read more

Worst Chinese food I have ever had. It was cold in some places and warm in others. You could tell the food was not fresh. The service was also really bad. I waited 30 minutes for them to bring me some cashews in a little bowl, after they forgot them in my cashew nut chicken. I will not be back. read more

I have been going there for years. Completely messed up my lunch order and I couldn't go back due to my lunch time being over. Called and cook basically called me a lier by stating he didn't mess up my food. Had to take my own time to go back down and prove their mistake. Ok, We used to LOVE this place until today...... We ordered our usual and about half way through the meal my husband found a COCKROACH dead in his rice! The waitress asked if he wanted a new plate and he of course said no and pushed his plate to the edge of the table and I did the same. I wasn't about to eat anything on my plate after that. The check had his plate crossed off and they still expected us to pay for the rest of the meal. My husband didn't want to pay for the food because of the roach. After sitting there a few minutes thinking about how we were going to handle this the waitress came back up and said we didn't have to pay. Absolutely the worst food ever. The sesame beef, you may break a tooth on. Fried rice. They don't even know what fried rice is!!! It was steamed rice with sauce and some dried up pork. BBQ pork dry tough and tasteless. General Tao chicken round fried pieces of dough with dry chicken and sauce no vegi. Never again. We took it home to be polite. Horrible food. I should have known when we drove up. Possibly by the name John's, But we were hungry and driving home. We may have ordered the wrong thing. I don't think so. Every dish was horrible. read more

If it's the weekend and you are terribly hungover, John's is a great option for to-go food if you are in the Keizer area. The best part about this building is the drive-up window so you can roll out of bed, look like crap and not have to leave your car. (Not that I've ever done that...lol) You can call ahead or order at the window. The service is really quick and the portions are HUGE. I love the fried shrimp and the chicken lo mein. John's wouldn't be my first choice for chinese because we have several good options in Salem/Keizer, but it is good for sure. read more

Clean, cheap, mostly American style Cantonese food. Better than many local Chinese spots but not worth the effort if you like the real stuff you have to drive to Portland for. If you like panda express this is a really Big step up. Owner is nice. Quiet enough to have a conversation. read more

Found this place through Yelp some time ago and tried it. You could find my old post. I came back to see if it was just a fluke or this was a really good place to eat. I ate here for the first time and I must say that I was very satisfied with everything. My order was ready in 5 minutes, the waitress was friendly and helpful. Prices are great..very affordable. Orange chicken could have used a little more sauce otherwise it was great...getting hungry just thinking about it lol. read more

Super good food. I eat there almost once a week. I was there when Britteny g was there and in the waitress' defense her kid was screaming its head off for at least 20 minutes and they were there way before me. As authentic as it is (don't let the name John throw you) it wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting especially since it wasn't cheap food.

If you have never been to Johns Chinese Restaurant, you must try the crab puffs......they are served with Sweet and Sour sauce and are to die for......... Their prices are very fair, we usually get it to go and have leftovers for the next day... All I can say is yummo..... read more

Love their food and we have always ordered to go at least a couple times every few months for years. The last couple of times, the service has been not so great. They usually say ready in 15 minutes but lately when we go there after waiting 15 minutes, there's another 20 minute wait. Just doesn't seem worth it anymore. read more
