We've used John's for almost 30 years with great outcomes and no problems. They were recently sold and, unfortunately, the business is no longer a friendly, competent entity. They try to sell defective, used appliances with no intention of following through on their good will. I highly advise against using their services, as they no longer have the integrity they used to. I have used John's multiple times for repair and have always been very pleased. Recently we had to replace a dryer, dishwasher and garbage disposal all at once. John made it all happen and when there was a problem with the size of the new dryer, he found the solution got everything installed in a timely manner. I was hustled... My condenser dryer was not completely drying my clothes. Called John's and they took it in for repair. I was told that the ONLY problem was the condenser pump, total for the fix would be $480 - if there was any other repair, I would've bought a new dryer instead of fixing an older one, which I clearly communicated multiple times. Once I got the dryer back, nothing changed. I called John's again and they took it in - now they said it's also the circuit board which is an additional $200, grand total almost $700. They didn't do their due diligence to check ALL FUNCTIONS of the dryer to make sure it was just the pump. If they told me from the beginning that the problem was the pump AND circuit board, I would've only paid for the diagnosis ($80). I have a feeling they knew about all the repairs (pump & circuit board), but baited me in to paying almost $500 for absolutely nothing. The salesmen Nor the technicians took accountability for this idiotic, careless, and extremely disrespectful mistake. And I never heard back on any resolution, they left me hanging. My family has used John's Maytag for years, and have had no problems with the service. The techs are very knowledgeable, polite and honest. I had a problem with my refrigerator thermostat, things are bound to go, it's 20 years old, so the tech had a new thermostat at the store, and installed the new thermostat in 20 minutes. Everything was working fine, thermostat clicked on and was keeping temperature; then about a week later the fridge began doing the same thing it had been doing with the previous thermostat. Called Customer Service Sunday Morning to leave a message, since I didn't get a return call Monday morning, I called again to ask: 1) Was a new part installed or was it a refurbished/reclaimed part?( I've heard several rumors they use refurbished parts) Customer Service, says,"I believe it was a new part".... (I didn't pay 272 dollars for a refurbished part) 2) I would like a new one put in today. Customer Service says, "Are you on the list"? No, I'm a paying customer who paid for a service you didn't perform. To which his response was, "We have other people on the list for today. Can you be there Tuesday?" I would think I'd be the priority since, well, I already paid for something and didn't receive what I'd paid for in the first place.Maybe that's just me. Hopefully, the problem can be remedied, we will see. Problem fixed, brand new thermostat installed, and the fridge is working great now. Have used John's several times for appliance repair issues. Techs are always on time and very professional. Latest issue I got a call the next day ( after a holiday) and was able to get a appointment that day, which I was not expecting. Technician, Chris, listened, and then performed the diagnostic test which confirmed I had an issue with the meat probe, which I never use. Having heard that I never used it he gave me a estimate on the replacement, but suggested disconnecting it, which would not impact the overall operation. This saved me money for the part and the installation, at another date. What a refreshing thing to have the tech suggest a way to save money, based on the way we use, or in this case, don't use a functionality of the oven. I hired John's Home Appliance Center to diagnose a problem I am having with my washing machine. The fabric softener cup does not empty properly and fills with water. John's Home Appliance Center charged me $100 for their technician to come and stand in my laundry room and watch my washing machine run for an hour. Afterwards he told me he couldn't find the problem I described. He used zero tools and took nothing apart. I called the following week as the problem persisted and John's Home Appliance sent the same technician to my home. This time he stood in my laundry room for two hours. He ran the machine twice and said he couldn't find the problem. He again used zero tools and took nothing apart. When I asked the owner for a refund, she spoke very rudely to me and refused. I have sent her photos of the problem and an online chat transcript from the appliance manufacturer that states the problem is likely internal and needs to be repaired by a service technician. The owner refuses to budge. She will not refund my money and has made no attempt to resolve the issue with me. She is currently not responding to my requests for a resolution. I have since filed a complaint with the BBB and the DA's office. Take my advice and hire a different company. read more

I remember hearing about "John's Maytag" for years, and then remembered from some radio ads that they just changed their name to "John's Home Appliance Center." Googled 'em, gave 'em a shout after lunch today, and boom-- a terrific tech named Chris swung by later that afternoon and fixed it in probably 30 minutes. On July 1st my dish washer broke down. on July 2nd I searched for a company that sold and serviced dishwashers. Also would install one before July 4th . Called John's Maytag in Clay Mont DE . They stated they could fill my need . Minutes later they called me saying we have a opening today. So to make the deal happen I had to leave a deposit ,never do this with John's May tag Pay full price up front . Service person arrived 1st thing he did was remove my broken dishwasher took it to his service vehicle,this plays a big part in this story. Brings in new dish washer I still have not seen a receipt for my deposit nor confirmed full price . Installs dishwasher . Now the fun starts they have all my card information at their office . 3 times they stated my card would not work, I am on the phone with my Bank they are watching this Calamity unfold . So supposedly the service person is talking to his boss . But I am not allowed to speak to his boss,Probably his mom . So now he removes the new dishwasher . Leaves quickly does not return my old dish washer nor make my kitchen sink usable in any way . So evening of July 2nd morning July 3rd I have to find a Real Plumber to fix the mess John's Maytag left behind . So to make matters worse I have to go to John's Maytag to collect my deposit . They say we are only going to give you half back . Guess what they have no problem make the trans action work this time . These people are Untrustworthy . They refuse to focus on the task @ Hand. I called John's to fix my refrigerator. They came the same day and charged me $419 and did not fix my refrigerator. They came back the next day and did something but it was still not fixed. They wanted to charge me another $150 plus to try something else and I told them to forget it. I offered to buy a new refrigerator from them if they would give me $300 of the $419 toward the new frig, but that didn't work either.
