I had to go drive on 4 dudes in a beat up pickup truck with boxes overflowing out of the bed of the truck at the gate. 2. We had our house organized each thing of kids toys separated and told not to dump them into one box, well guess what all of them dumped into one box. 3. Broken furniture, kids dresser broken, kids play toys broken and other broken items here and there because they have no idea how to pack properly. 4. One of the packers left their food trash in one of my boxes and when I was unpacking at my new home I saw that disgusting trash in my box. I'm not don't unpacking yet maybe halfway and I'm hoping the rest is not the same way. I'm having my DMO get involved and recommending they remove you as a client for the military and I will be referencing all of these other one star reviews about the absolute terrible service you provide. I recently PCS'd from San Diego to Virginia due to pregnancy and was assigned these movers. Not only did the movers break my nightstand, but they also stole three of my boxes. I'm missing over $1000 worth of perfume, $500 worth or protein and workout supplements and an additional $500 worth of souvenirs I've purchased while serving overseas. I know the boxes are missing because in the inventory write up in comparison to what I have in my apartment there's three boxes not listed in between my first and final piece of equipment (the inventory list stops at 294, but I have a box listed as 298 meaning there 4 items not included in my inventory). Absolutely one of the worst moving companies I've ever dealt with in my career. The employees are rude, unprofessional, incompetent, and lazy. They consistently cut corners, prioritized their time over the safety of my family. When questioned, they immediately became confrontational, lied to their supervisors and quit the job mid move. Keep in mind this is AFTER I ask them exactly what they want for lunch, run to local restaurant they chose, spent over $50 getting them the food they asked for, but yet I'm the bad guy? Please, my entire family witnessed the scene YOU caused. Just a truly terrible company. Do yourself a favor and don't use them, at any cost. Horrible, just horrible. We feel 'soul crushed' after what they did to our belongings. We hired them to help unpack our 5 bedroom home. They sent one person who claimed he was only there to pick up empty boxes. His manager told him to open and dump our stuff, get as many boxes as possible. We should have never agreed to let Johnson Storage and Moving into our home. The hasty mover dumped and broke most of children's belongings. Johnson Storage and Moving left our belongings in careless broken heaps all over the house. I was out with our 2 year old and after 2 hours my husband had to ask the crewman to leave. We were given this moving company through the military. We've done overseas moves, moves on our own and this company is definitely at the bottom of our list. 1. They sent one guy and had to wait for 2 more. They started at 10:30AM, but DRAGGED. The 2 other people who arrived were a young man and his girlfriend, fiancé, wife... whatever she was. The older man was the father to the young man. Anyway, the older man was ok, but doing my bedroom on his own. The two young couple were doing one of my children's room and would not stop talking the whole time. We needed them done so the property manager could have her cleaning crew clean the apartment. These people were moving stuff still until like 9PM. I am heavily pregnant and got annoyed that I made my husband switch places with me (he was with our children out of the house). My husband was getting frustrated with how much they were dragging. 2. How they packed some stuff is UNACCEPTABLE. I hope they never have to trust someone with their most prized possessions and have them completely disgusting upon arrival. The first thing they packed that I was pretty upset about was how my wedge pillow for my HG and GERD (in pregnancy) was just thrown in a laundry basket with a DIRTY TOILET WAND. WHO DOES THAT?! I got it back covered in dirt on top of a dirty toilet wand. Great. I hope they enjoy their pillows covered in fecal matter. Two, I told them one of the children's big wooden, custom made toys was high valued & it was two pieces. They took care of the first piece but completely gave ZERO care about the second piece. Wasn't wrapped or anything, despite the fact that it was inventoried as high value. It was delivered with scratches and a knick. The toy isn't even a year old. The third thing. My holiday decor signs. One is a Fall sign that is white and they handled it with dirty, gross hands and got dirty hand prints all over. Fourth, they didn't take the shelf pegs out of our bookcase and now we're missing a peg. 3. Aside from all of that, we're missing items. We're missing an end table, a Graco Pack and Play, brooms, mop, the bookcase shelves. 4. The younger man was honestly kind of careless. He turned the stove on with packing paper on it. I'm just done. Im so done dealing with moving companies who give zero cares about people's household goods. The younger two people have a pretty poor work ethic, clearly shouldn't work together because they end up doing more talking than working, and obviously are careless with packing some items. I really hope the military stops using this company. This was the biggest headache of a move, but the first close distance move we did. Make it make sense. And get better workers. read more

I moved from San Diego to the Midwest this summer 2021 using United Van Lines and a local agent from Johnson Moving was assigned to coordinate my move. I've used United Van Lines before in three other cross country moves (all from California to other states) and this was by far the worst experience I've had. Johnson movers came to pick up my boxes and furniture. They disassembled items that didn't need to be (like an office chair) and mixed screws and bolts together with different furniture which made reassembling everything a mess. They used dirty blankets that had been sitting on the ground outside my building to wrap up all of my furniture. Just really gross. Between pick up and drop off at my new location (which should've been two weeks), my move went missing. The Johnson agent was incredibly unhelpful, non-transparent, and frankly kind of rude about the fact that they couldn't find my move. They had a lot of excuses and took no accountability that my stuff disappeared. At one point my move was in TN and my moving number was mixed up with another move. Then after another week of waiting, my move was tracked down to their San Diego warehouse. For almost 3 weeks it was sitting in their warehouse. No one knew until I continually followed up with my agent to investigate more. My move was finally delivered another two weeks later, a full MONTH after my move was picked up in San Diego. The Johnson agent again wasn't much help in tracking down an actual delivery date. I finally had to call around to track down which United Van Lines agent had my stuff. I also called customer service to start a refund process. I realize the moving and trucking industry is short-staffed right now. I also realize that lots of people are moving right now as well. What I don't understand is untrained, unhelpful, uncaring movers/agents who are facilitating these moves. I paid over $5K to move cross country and my stuff was missing for several weeks. That's unacceptable. I did get a partial refund, but I will not be using United Van Lines again. I'll also be letting my friends in San Diego know not to use Johnson Moving. read more

I sold my home so quickly, I didn't know what to do, but they suggested I have my furniture picked up and stored until my new place was ready, They packed up my home, stored my stuff for almost a month then delivered it to my new place. Great service! I used them for two residential moves. Staff was efficient and the job was done early both times. They take extra care and rewrap furniture and fragile items with their own supplies and also lay down pathway mats so your floors are not damaged from the dollies. Extreeeemmmeelllyyy UNPROFESSIONAL This is our fifth time using movers and second cross country move. I have never in my life seen such unprofessional packing. They used less packing paper for our entire 4,500lb, 2,000 mile move than our last movers used to pack about five boxes. All of our items made it to San Diego fine from 3,000 miles away, but this company couldn't get even half of our furniture back east without significant damage to many of our belongings. It is essentially like I hired random people off the street and told them to dump drawers and push things off counters into boxes. It's not the money wasted and lost that is so terrible, it is the blatant disrespect for you and your belongings. It's opening a box to find a hand carved souvenir buried and crushed under 80lbs of books. As we unpacked we kept a running list of the results of their inexcusable behavior... - All desks and bookshelves damaged -Didn't plastic wrap most furniture. -Didn't use wardrobe boxes to hang clothes (broke hangers) -Used paper almost exclusively for dishes. -Things that weren't paper wrapped: appliances, picture frames, electronics -Ruined our art supplies to use as packing materials for a portable AC. -$300 headphones underneath 50lbs of weights in small box -1 bookshelf nearly broken in half (damaged beyond repair) - hard guitar case punctured by improperly packed lamp (broken) -Broke handmade table we told them was fragile (it's actually sturdier than most furniture but we wanted them to treat it right. Arrived with a broken leg.) -Disassembled $3000 dollar exercise equipment we told them cannot be disassembled (voids warranty). They put it on the truck whole and disassembled it out of sight -Packed foods and liquids (never seen that done) -Didn't number many items -Of three yoga mats, not one survived (folded and squished under heavy items) -Did not pack any plastic totes so almost all of them were crushed beyond recognition. -Picture frames all in one improper box with no paper, one destroyed, others scratched. This experience was so bad it convinced our friend moving from California to Texas to move herself. They may think they save money with this terrible behavior but that's one $4,000 referral they lost already. WORST moving experience ever. I had to relocate for work from San Diego to Salt Lake City in January. My company paid for it, so it should have been stress-free. It was the exact opposite. The packing guys came and packed everything, then took inventory. If you ignorantly still choose Johnson for your moving... My suggestion is to actually notate EXACTLY what is in each box because they will not. They will only mark your furniture and the # of boxes they pack. ALSO notate ALL high value items because they will LOSE IT! I purchased a brand new 60 inch LED 4K TV right before getting the news I was moving, so the Johnson told me to keep it in the original box. I didn't even open it and it was a birthday gift to myself. When my belongings came to my new place almost 2 weeks later, the TV box was delivered WITH THE TV MISSING! How ridiculous is that?! It is obvious that one of the movers from Johnson saw an opportunity to steal it and off they went. I regret tipping those shady a holes. In addition to the missing TV, my wardrobe boxes with ALL OF MY SUITS was missing. Half of my sectional, my watches and wallets, my desktop computer + monitor, lamps, and two other boxes of clothes were also never located. Thankfully, I work for a great company that assisted me in this time of need. I would never recommend Johnson even to my worst enemy as they will make moving a living hell. Terrible experience showed up and opened up all boxes to repack and inventory the boxes. Upon completion of inventory they stuffed packing paper in already full boxes, which caused the boxes to blow out and compromised the integrity of my boxes. Once I received the boxes all the boxes fell apart and then once stacked the boxes crumbled and damaged contents within. Don't recommend. read more

I had a great experience with Johnson moving and storage. The team that packed up my house was courteous, polite, and professional. They took care to double check what was/wasn't going and were very accommodating. They were efficient with their time and took good care of our stuff. Unpacking went just as well. The planning and coordination of the service was excellent as well. The rep that came to perform the estimate was friendly and efficient. Our concierge, Lisa, couldn't have been more helpful or communicative. It's an expensive service but worth it. They definitely took away an element of stress in an others hectic move. read more

I had no idea I was getting this company when I signed up with United Van Lines. Let's get started. The movers who picked up my items forgot to put a mattress on the truck. I had to call them back from the road and literally coax them into turning around for it. "Well, we're already 30 minutes away." "Well, I NEED MY MATTRESS." Good thing I had already tipped each of them $50 (guilt trip?) or I'd be trying to dispose of a perfectly good mattress in CA, and then have to purchase a brand new one when I arrived it Michigan because a queen sized mattress was not going to fit in my car. As a loaded my car in preparation for a cross-country road trip, I then discovered that the movers had taken by work backpack (laptop, etc) and had tossed that in the truck as well. Sharon was able to go to the truck hub in San Diego, locate it for me, and I gladly paid $200 to have my backpack expedited UPS so I could work when I arrived in Michigan. At this point, I would've been okay if I'd have at least gotten a timely delivery of my items. They give a two week window. I was prepared for worst case, the full two weeks. The two weeks expires this Saturday. Today is Wednesday. I called yesterday to get delivery status. I get a VM back from Nata saying that there's NO WAY my belongings will arrive by Saturday. In fact, my belongings are still sitting on the truck in San Diego. Eleven days later and MY STUFF IS STILL IN A TRUCK SITTING IN CALIFORNIA. There's NO ETA. She won't know until the driver finishes moving my stuff onto a bigger truck this Friday. FRIDAY. One day before it's supposed to be in Michigan. Then I can get an ETA. Wtf. My family is sleeping on the floor. We broke down and bought pillows and blankets, a pot, paper plates and sporks. I have a 16 hour online MBA class this weekend with no chair to sit in, no desk, no office supplies. The only assurance I have from this company is that there's no way they can make it by Saturday...They can't tell me when because they won't know that until a driver makes a decision on Friday, when my belongings will have been sitting on their lot for 14 days. "We don't have enough drivers." "COVID." "There's nothing we can do." "I can't give you a date." This is what I'm hearing from their coordinator and customer service. "How could you sell me a service that you couldn't provide?" I ask. "That's what happened, right? You told me you could deliver my items--at worst--two weeks after pick up, but you're company doesn't have the drivers needed to meet that delivery date. COVID was here when you quoted a time frame. Nothing has changed. Why would you sell me a service you couldn't provide? That's what you did, right?" "You're right." Wow. Too bad, so sad, customer. This company sucks. read more

I recently used Johnson Storage & Moving to move a law office I worked on. I am an interior designer and am very particular about who I hire. Moving isn't an easy task and I know it is very difficult for moving companies to find reliable and detailed employees. Sharon Robinson was very attentive and goes out of her way to ensure the client is taken care of. The gentlemen that moved the office were courteous, respectful and did what we needed done in a timely manner. I personally have used Johnson for my last two moves and had very minimal damage, I completely understand that some things are not going to be 100% perfect....as I stated above moving isn't easy especially with schedules and how things don't always go according to plans. Johnson would have 0 stars if it were an option MOVERS BEWARE - They'll say whatever they need to in order to sell you, then treat you however they want to once they have your goods and you are at their mercy. Packers&Movers - 9/10 Operations and Main Office - ***0/10*** I set up a move and was told: "this isn't a busy time of year," "we can make a tight timeline work", "we will be able to deliver your goods ASAP", etc). On the day of the actual move, I was told that my goods would be delivered on the last possible date of the date range we agreed upon in writing (7 days later). I asked them why and I was told because "it's the busy time of year". That conflicted with what I was told previously and the entire reason that we went with Johnson in the first place. I also felt like I was being lied to considering the extra room in the truck my goods were on wasn't utilized for any other moves in the week in-between. The Operations Manager told me that delivering my goods on the last day of the contract wasn't "the bare minimum", although I cannot what would be in his mind if it wasn't. Eventually, the representative who promised to call me back to help resolve or at least give me an explanation left at 2 pm on a three day weekend and didn't return my calls after repeated callbacks and voicemails the following week once back in the office. Ultimately, my goods were loaded onto a truck on a Friday morning and left to sit until the following Thursday at 3 pm when they started the drive to deliver to me the following Friday. Johnson could have made the 12-hour drive much sooner but chose not to. Coupled with the differing stories given to me between the booking agent, the Operations Manager and the movers along with the complete lack of professionalism by refusing to return my phone calls, I cannot in good faith recommend them for ANY services. read more

My wife, Lily, and I used this company to move locally in San Diego. We have moved quite a few times in our lives and never had so many problems with lost and damaged items until now. Sharon was very nice and helpful scheduling, but once the moving started it was very frustrating. The movers damaged several walls in our new house, damaged several sentimental items, and lost a couple items that were parts of bigger pieces of furniture. The whole claims process was long and unprofessional. My wife had to continually call to get them to answer us after the claim had been filed. The gentleman they sent in for the claims process was very nice. One of things that was lost in the move was a cushion to our patio furniture. The man said getting a new one that can be exactly matched would be almost impossible. Most likely, they would just reimburse us a new cushion set. They also lost a drawer to a hutch that has been in my wife's family for years. In the end, they would not reimburse us for any of the lost items, which ironically, would have probably the most expensive for them to pay. Instead they sent us a small check to shut us up. They said they wouldn't reimburse us for the lost items since 'they couldn't prove that it was a loss'. Well when it was left on your moving trucks, we don't know how else to prove it to you. If you are in the customer service business, then serve your customers. We paid a lot of money to have ALL of our items moved to our new house. They didn't do that. What a complete slap in the face. Don't send us an insulting check for only what was damaged, fulfill the entire claim. read more

There was supposed to be 4 guys but only 2 ending up showing up. They took their good ol time in my bedroom for about 5 hours and decided around 4:30 they were gonna start rushing. They did a careless job packing up the rest of my apartment. And ran out the door at 7pm leaving my full pantry and closet full of my stuff which I had to pack into my own small Honda Civic and move across the country with. & to top it off I'm missing over $1,250 worth of stuff. We moved from Kearny Mesa to Del Mar and used this company. The move was literally 15 miles. During the packing of our house, the movers broke 3 lamps and 2 paintings. I witnessed it with my own eyes. Careless, incompetent , and unprofessional. Before the truck left, I requested to inspect it to ensure it was packed correctly. Thank god we did. We have a $25,000 grand piano and these guys had not secured it in place, did not cover it in the truck, and placed boxes on top of it. I immediately told them to remove everything immediately from the truck. I did not care. I called up Sullivan Movers, told them to come asap, and literally the movers took items from the Johnson truck to the Sullivan truck in my front yard. Johnson is an awful company. These are the movers for you if you want a total lack of professionalism, complete lack of courtesy, and zero support when the inevitable problems occur. It is amazing to me that they are still in business. We moved in April and had to split our household goods and furniture into three separate shipments: local, storage and shipment later, ship directly to the East Coast. Locally they put a hole in the wall of the home we vacated, ruined most of the potted plants they were hired to move, broke furniture and framed pictures, and failed to meet a clearly explained time deadline at the new home resulting in a citation from the new HOA. The shipment that made it to the East Coast was late and the wrong load. The correct shipment finally made it there two months late - with a broken piano. The shipment for storage first went to the East Coast then, supposedly, to Colorado and finally to New Orleans for storage. The only problem is that no one has seen fit to provide any type of documentation to verify that this in fact the case. I have tried to resolve the problems amicably from the start but Jim Bargeron has chosen to ignore any responsibility to the extent that he won't even return phone calls. A new GM by the name of Aaron seems to fit right in as he also hasn't bothered to return my call. So, in review, if you want to deal with folks who couldn't care less about you or your belongings this is definitely the company to hire. And as a side note do not expect anyone from the United corporate office to assist you in any way. I would give negative stars if it were possible. read more

They told us that they would bring out stuff on Saturday from 8-11 am; they never showed up and didn't call to keep us updated. We had to keep calling numbers and eventually got in touch with someone that tried to help as much as she could (she was awesome). She told us that they'd be here after 5 because a job took too long, they didn't come. We were out and about on Sunday because we figured they weren't coming on a Sunday, but then they called to let us know they were 40 minutes away. Hands down, the worst moving company, worst customer service, worst communication and worst followup I've ever experienced during my four cross country moves. John, the salesperson, promises he can do anything and everything until you sign the contract, then he plays dumb about the companies actual policies if you can get in touch with him at all. I was promised that packing and loading a two bedroom, 1100 sq ft apartment in one day would not be an issue, after signing my agreement, the storage location coordinator called to setup my two day pack and load as it's "impossible" to do all that in one day. My rate included three ppl, only two showed up. When I finally got ahold of John, he said that he had come by earlier and that was the third person. He spent about an hour packing fine China, and do inventory but never moved an item. John told me to call or text him once we had a closing date on our new home and if I gave him three weeks plus, he would insure our load was delivered on the day we needed it. Once my wife and I bought our home in Atlanta, I called John and setup delivery for July 1. This is when Wanda, the office coordinator took over and John became a ghost. Wanda said company policy is an 11 day delivery window and the driver will call the day before delivery. If we aren't home, they charge us for redelivery even if they are late and you had previous out of town plans. Our load was supposed to be picked up in San Diego on June 25, it was not loaded until July 1 and Johnson still charged me for those six days of storage even though they were the ones that were late. Wanda told me that once the shipment was loaded she would know the delivery date. This is when the game of hide and seek, not answering phones or returning messages started. It took me 9 days to finally track somebody down to give me an estimated delivery day. The people I tracked down worked for the company actually driving the truck, not Johnson...that must explain why they were so responsive and nice once I found their phone number. The delivery was 13 days after it left San Diego and 14 days after July 1, when John "promised" he could have the shipment delivered. 25 days notice and the delivery was still 13 days late . One of our boxes is still missing 50 days later, United has decided to settle the claim in cash as they cannot get a call back from anybody at the office. $10K in packing, moving and storage and I haven't heard from anybody since the day the shipment left San Diego, Wanda and John and all of Johnson just washed their hands of everything and put it all on United. I find it amazing that the loaders didn't not pack up my $200 Dewalt drill and drill bits, and just zipped up the tool bag and magically it never arrived. Many of our nice furniture pieces were damaged due to poor storage because I was present when they were padded and wrapped which was done very well...it has to be when the clients aren't present that your items are just thrown around. I'm having to fight with United for over $2k in damages and lost items while Johnson continues to book future business and find more people to ruin their belongings. Johnson has refused to contact anybody or do anything to make things right for all their issues. Please, please, please, I beg you to use any other company and protect your valuables. United van lines should stop doing business with Johnson ASAP to protect their business in the future. read more

If you think $2,000+ for a 6 month storage at 1,009 pounds is reasonable... then this is the place for you (I have stored items of the same amount for half the cost in the past with a different company).If you think "I have way too much money and I don't know what to do with it," then this is the place for you. If you particularly enjoy speaking to condescending women who repeatedly say "it zeroes out" when you ask about charges, but can't tell you why the charges even exist, then this is the place for you. If, in such a heavily military populated area like San Diego, you appreciate active duty military being treated like garbage, this is the place for you. Wanda is the only person I spoke to who was of any value or credibility. Even the movers themselves were questionable. I watched them haphazardly load my items into a box too small, and shove my couch in after them. I hadn't cared about the scrapes on the couch because I was going to replace it anyway... until I started questioning charges and spoke to corporate employees who were equally scum. Now I'm mad about the state of my furniture as well. I can't keep taking time out of my day to go down and fight with them. My fiancé can't keep taking time out of his day. They win by default despite not having two brain cells to rub together nor valid answers for their charges. Tip: It took an hour to unload my items, but I had to pay for 4 hours because "we don't do anything for less than a 4 hour charge." I have used this company twice now and their prices and service was stellar. Sharon was a huge part of why I decided to use Johnson again. My move was from Chula Vista to Imperial Beach. We commissioned Johnson to move us 850 miles, and that was a BIG MISTAKE. They were very attentive and accommodating during the sales process, but during and post-move, not so much. They damaged multiple things and lost others, and despite purchasing the full insurance for the move, paid only 30% on the claim despite FULL DOCUMENTATION for all items missing and/damaged (including professional estimates for damage done to the wood flooring during the delivery. NEVER will recommend them. read more

OMG. If I can give negative 1 star to this moving company I would. This is the worst moving company in San Diego. We waited for them on our scheduled time between 8 to 10 am. So at 0950 I called them and ask where the movers and the front desk don't have any clue about the movers or the drivers. So I waited until 1010 and no show. So I decided to call our moving agent about this company and complained. After a few minutes I received a call from the manager and told me that they are on their way. By that time I left my storage and told the manager that they can wait for me since they wasted my time. DO NOT GET THIS MOVING COMPANY. I am warning you. Their review says it all. I really don't have choice since it's a military move but that shouldn't be an excuse. If you are doing a regular move don't ever waste your time. They really sucks. read more

They told us to give them 2 weeks notice to get our stuff out of storage and transported to Atlanta, GA from San Diego, CA. We gave them 3 weeks notice and the stuff was delivered late. In addition to this they lost 1/3 of my stuff. How do you lose a dining room table, couch and queen size bed and mattresses? They kept refusing to commit to a delivery date until the day before they delivered which made it very hard to plan our move. They paid for an air mattress for us to sleep on while they tried to find our stuff. Are you serious? It has been over 10 days. How long are we supposed to sleep on an air mattress while they try to find our stuff? By the way, they are Monday thru Friday 9 to 5 - so don't even think about having a problem with a weekend move - you can only leave a message!! Letter to the CEO was useless - he just sent it on to customer service who had offered the air mattress. So the end result is we lost about $15000 worth of stuff, we are still sleeping on an air mattress and they are going to give us 60 cents a pound - probably about $500. read more

Before I begin I will say that this is not a review for all United moving services. We have used them in the past and were thrilled with the service that we got. However, Johnson's was terrible. An estimate of over a thousand pounds more than our last move, and we have less stuff then we had last move. When we called and emailed to express our concerns we didn't hear back from them. They never called us to confirm our appointments even when they said they would. The morning of the move (which had been scheduled for over three weeks) the movers never arrived and again we had to call them to find out what was going on. They informed us that they didn't have a truck available, but would try to get us in in the afternoon. (Our scheduled move was 8 am.) Come 4 o'clock and they are still unable to give us an idea of when they would come. Truly the worst customer experience I've ever seen. I am only leaving one star because my update can't be 0. Upon officially moving and unpacking everything we have come to the conclusion that the movers we had were not only inconsiderate but had no care for military items. They also did not follow our directions as to how we wanted things packed but then again we have discovered more things than originally thought to be missing unaccounted for. If we had known how poorly our experience would be I would have made my husband help me pack our belongings and move them ourselves. At least then I would know where everything was. DO NOT USE! If I could give negative stars, I would! Johnson Moving and Storage was in possession of my household goods after moving to Camp Pendleton, California in December of 2013 from Niceville, Florida. After over 3 years of my goods in their storage facility, I contacted them in January of 2017 in order to have my household goods delivered to my condo I recently purchased in Oceanside, CA. On January 30th of 2017 I paid Johnson Storage and Moving Company $722.55 in order to receive my household goods. The delivery date was set for shortly thereafter, and the next day I receive an email from the General Manager of the San Diego office, which reads as follows, verbatim: "Your shipment arrived at our warehouse in the Mira Mesa area and a partial delivery out was made. The remaining items were returned to the warehouse. Sometimes afterward, the shipment converted to your expense. Sometime later, the warehouse in No County was closed and all items were transferred to our Otay Mesa address. When you called and asked for delivery, we were unable to locate the vault with your items. Every row of a 65,000 sqft warehouse was searched. My guess would be that the items were not correctly marked when they returned to the warehouse." End quote. This is completely unacceptable to me, and caused a massive strain in my personal and professional life as I now had a condo with no bed, no furniture, no anything. I had to take time off work in order to purchase new furniture and had the headache of dealing with their customer service that would rarely, if ever (still haven't gotten through to the claims department via phone after over 15 calls across multiple days) answer their phones. I filed a claim for my lost goods on February 15th of 2017, only to find out that I had to wait 30 days for them to initiate a trace of the household goods their General Manager already told me they lost. At this point, I have already paid to have all of my goods replaced and a trace of my goods would be useless. Also, I was counting on the money to be reimbursed in order to pay for my new furniture (bed, bed frame, desk, futon, etc). I just wanted my money in a timely manner. Fast forward to today, March 9th 2017 and I have still yet to receive the money owed to me. I have been in contact with the claims department via email and only after informing them of my intention to file a complaint with the BBB did they decide to inform me my goods would be paid in full. He has not, however, included the reimbursement for the money I already paid the company on the 30th of January in 2017 to retrieve my goods out of storage. I am still awaiting a response in regards to this matter. I have never in my life dealt with a company so difficult, unresponsive, and negligent. They somehow managed to lose my entire set of household goods entrusted to them, and were paid to do so. No reasonable explanation was explained to me besides that it may be "mislabeled", which is still completely unacceptable. Were the goods sold? Stolen? Destroyed? Left at another warehouse? Still sitting in the storage facility, forever "mislabeled"? Whenever I tried to contact anyone from Johnson Storage and Moving, I would have to try multiple different times through the operator, and have the operator connect me to multiple different numbers because they would never pick up their phones. I would like to warn others of my terrible experience so they can avoid the headache I am STILL going through, to no avail. I am an active duty Marine getting ready to deploy and this is the last thing I need on my plate. All I requested is the money I deserve, and I haven't even brought up the extra money they have costed me by making me waste time, energy, money, gas, valuable leisure time, and more in order to go shopping for new furniture that shouldn't have been needed to be purchased in the first place. Sharon at Johnson was not only low bidder, but top in service as well. The packers did a great job with all of our breakables, and no damage. Driver and crew were friendly and worked non-stop; driver remembered how to reassemble beds, desks, TV stands, etc. Packing, loading, and unloading went as scheduled. read more
