After reading some reviews online I decided to go to these guys to have a rack & pinion installed,did the job and I left then I noticed every time I make a turn something was rubbing took it back and he said I needed rack spacers so that obviously told me they didn't test drive the car after or anything any shop would count the rack spacers front the old rack and made sure it was the same amount on the new one these people didn't give a shit about what they didn't do I went there 3 times and The owner has a real Nasty attitude and refused to correct their mistake,all along my tire was rubbing on the sway bar took it to another shop and the problem was fixed without any issues.I will never return there or recommend anyone to visit them don't be fooled by those reviews these people shouldn't be in business read more

2006 Range Rover had a small vibration in wheel when going over sharp edges. Other shops said nothing was wrong. Johnson's was recommended by another shop for a second opinion when I was frustrated that no one could figure it out. Johnson's diagnosed front control arms bushing in about 30 minutes. They replaced the control arms and ball joints (per my request), aligned the truck perfectly in about 2 hours. The car drives like new and tracks perfectly. The owners are straightforward and not much for small talk. Funny how some reviewers are upset by this. I don't need to be sweet talked. Rather have outstanding work and a fair price. read more

Like a lot of other people here, I have used Johnson's for many many years. I'm kind of a 'car nut' and pretty particular about who works on my cars. I have absolute trust in Johnson's to find and deal with any issues. Sometimes all the car needs is alignment, but if anything is out of spec, they will tell you and give you options: deal with it later, fix with new parts, or maybe even locate a decent used part. I have never felt they were less concerned about the cost to me or the safety of the car than they would be if I were a family member. I probably drive past 6 or 7 alignment shops every time I go to Johnson's. I am their customer for life. read more

I came here to have alignment done to my track car. They were very friendly at the desk and set me up with an appointment, Steven asked me about the aftermarket suspension parts and we talked about the desired alignment setting for the car. They were on schedule and I didn't have to wait. Luis started working on my car right away, in about 1 1/2 hrs everything was ready! Louis is super knowledgeable even with aftermarket parts and triple checks everything. Steven, the manager, is very experienced and will give you his best advice on alignment settings to make sure you're happy. Why would you go any place else?...They even care enough and want to hear back from you the very next day to see how my car drives... why ? because they want their customers to be happy...This is how they took care of me.... My father has done business with them for over 25 years! He has been very pleased with their expertise and their attention to detail. I now have moved down to the South Bay and began using them. Our Nissan Maxima developed a awful squeak sound in the rear of the vehicle, steering wheel shake, and the car pulled right. Steve was able to pin point the issue to a rear suspension part, he also aligned and balanced the wheels beautifully! Our Honda Minivan to Johnson Alignment for a suspension clunk and a shimmy in the steering. I got an alignment and corner balance done here after having coilovers installed on my car and changing the ride height. They did the corner balance with weight in the car (to match me sitting in the driver's seat) and worked with me to get the right alignment specs for my purposes (ie, not racing, but fun on the street). Thanks so much for your work on my m-sport X1. Perfect job in my opinion and I'm really, really old! My normal highway mileage is 19.5 . On a trip up 395 to Mammoth from San Pedro and back to Bishop for a refuel I saw 28.3. That is pretty good. In fact I've never seen anything close to it. Steve was very honest on what he could do, Luis is a master at measuring, adjusting and re-weighing the car until it was just right. Be prepared to spend some time or leave the car for a bit... Had probably the best car experience at this place than any other shop I've ever been to. I recently did an overhaul on my suspension on my 330 m and needed to take it in for an alignment, which is the final step. I knew the car had been in an accident but discovered the damage was a little more extensive than I thought. John and his team went above and beyond in providing the best possible outcome despite the issue with my suspension. Communication was a perfect 10/10 and my car is driving straight and better than it ever has since I've purchased it. Very Honest Shop and courteous mechanics!! They were able to fix the alignment in my s2000 and is driving perfectly now. 3 months ago i actually brought my car in a different shop regarding the alignment problem and they said that they have to replace something in the suspension in the backend(i forgot the name of the part) and guess what!! Johnsons mechanics were able to find the problem by just tightening a loose screw!!! t The first shop was going to charge me $900 to replace a part or just tightening a screw..... I have been taking my cars to John since 1986, when I had a Mazda RX7, with a steering issue, that the dealer could not fix. Johnsons did. 24 years later, no one works on my cars except John and Steve - over the years they have done brakes, alignment, tires, and suspension work for me on a range of cars from a 66 Mustang, Mini Cooper S, BMW 5 series, Landcruiser etc etc. I have never had any issues with them, and continue to refer them to friends and family. On the rare occasion that something had to be looked at again, it was done promptly and resolved. Its rare nowadays to find a shop that specializes in suspension work, and is not part of a chain, and this is why they are as good as they are. I can also tell you that they are honest, and have never tried to upsell a repair. Keep up the great work guys! read more

I have taken several old cars, trucks, and hotrods to these guys and have nothing but good things to say about the service and the way they treat customers. They took the time to fully explain what was going on under there, what was done, and even asked about how I intended to use the vehicles, to "dial it in" for my wants and preferences. Steve took the time to come outside and chat about it and what his guys were doing to my ride. I cant believe anyone who says they were not treated right or felt like they got bad service here. Came in for a simple alignment and was told I need additional work and parts adding up to 800+ dollars. Took the car to my mechanic to confirm and it was clear they wanted to charge me for something I didn't need. Will never come back again. Johnson alignment was recommended to me by a few other alignment shops to align my lifted truck. I was so impressed by their work that I've used them on 2 other vehicles, all with great results. These guys are very economically priced vs. the chain shops. More importantly, I appreciate the thoroughness of their work- they pointed out some worn bushings and missing boots and cotter pins on an older Corolla of mine. And, on my truck (which is also old, but which I take care of meticulously) they just did the alignment and I was out the door! Honest shop. And, when I inquired about some noises from the front end of my car (both before and after alignment), the manager said to bring it in and he'd be happy to take a look. Ok - this place IS the local place to get yourself an alignment -- price is competitive, but mostly they are experts and not some Sear autoshop hacks. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because I had a car with a bent wheel that caused odd bump-steer like behavior on rough roads and when I took it to them with the problem - they aligned it, but couldn't diagnose the root cause of the problem. I've since taken several cars -- gotten custom alignments and been very happy. read more

I have a Porsche Race Car and live in San Diego. I have found Johnson's Alignment to be so good at what they do that I spend the time to trailer my car all the way to Torrence for the alignment. For some unknown reason when racing, my right front end has been hit by other cars three times. The struts are custom and the suspension is not an easy buy off of the shelf item. Johnson's has rebuilt my struts, and fabricated parts when necessary. After the first alignment I was asked if my right front brake locked up while racing, my response was yes and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.....I was then told that the alignment was causing the brake to lock up and they corrected the issue.......good news is that I can now late brake into corners without locking up my brake and flat spotting my tire $$$$$$$$$$$$, flat spots ruin tires, late braking has also allowed me to cut time and be more competitive. I am so thrilled with the EXTRA BENEFITS I received from what I thought was going to be just an alignment. It is so great to deal with such knowlegable people. My son, an engineer who does all of his own work on his race car was so impressed with the improved handling of my car now also uses Johnson's Alignment, again hauling his race car from San Diego to Torrence.......believe me, we wouldn't do it if it was not worth time. read more

I took my 62 Beetle in for an alignment after I had upgraded (myself) to disc brakes. I wanted a place that truly knew how to align a front king and link pin suspension. Fortunately I asked if they could also bleed the brakes, which they did but also noticed a mistake I had made during my install and they were able to correct it. They also caught that my rear wheel bearings were shot. I couldn't believe the amount of play... so, new bearings were installed and then finally the alignment was completed. John and Steve really know what they're doing. He took care of fixing what I had done wrong... my first time working on a king and link pin front end so I made a couple mistakes. But they took me over to the car and showed me the issue and took the time to explain what was going on. All in all, I spent a little more than I originally planned for, but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. They saved me in the long run and I have confidence in knowing that the beetle is now roadworthy. read more

After going to another alignment place and them telling me my bolts are stuck I came here. The other place said it's too much work to free the bolts but Johnson's is familiar with this since they work on classic cars on a regular basis. Johnson's is family owned and operated and the mechanics are older more experienced not the typical teenage/college kids employed at other places. I saw a lot of professional autocross Porches being worked on that day so I know these guys are good. The owner personally takes his time to diagnose each car and they take their time to get it done right. And I was surprised that it was actually cheaper than the other place. read more

Had an appointment with the owner to get the car aligned. I drove two hours one way and paid top dollar to get an alignment from them as I was told they were worth it. The owner that I had the appointment with left before I arrived for a funeral and never returned. The owner's brother said he would take care of it. When finished there the car was pulling to the left. Realized by the time I got home that it was not the roadways that were making the car pull like that so I went to my local alignment shop that same day. According to my local shop the car was not aligned to factory specs which was causing it to pull to the left. I then had to pay the local shop to fix the problem. I asked the owner for a refund as they did not align the car properly and he refused. Definitely not happy with the service that they performed, nor am I happy with the customer service that I received. read more

I swore back in '75 when I was an award winning front-end mechanic for Firestone that one day I would find a reputable shop. It took a few seasons but Johnson's is the place. Glad I found them. I had to drive out from south Hollywood but it was worth it. These guys are the real deal. I had to have my Lexus RX330 front and rear aligned. It involves adjusting camber on the rear and the mechanic, David, knew what he was doing. When I took a peek to check on the progress and saw him putting big water carriers in the driver seat ( to simulate a driver in the seat) I knew I was in good hands. Few front-end shops go the distance to make it perfect. Johnson's did and does. Price was fair and reasonable too. read more
