This was my infant Son's first trip to the hardware store and Gio was telling him about the parts we need to fix the hose. We got the correct paint, wrenches, spigot and plumbers tape. Great experience! Thank you Gio for being so helpful and considerate to help a working dad get the stuff we needed. They even have HOTWHEELS and I picked out two so we can race cars when we get home. The store is also wonderfully stocked and maintained. I recently decided to try to attract some hummingbirds into my yard and figured a nice hanging plant should do the trick. With my limited knowledge of such things, I immediately asked for some assistance and recommendations. I was referred to Ava, who was just an absolute delight. She was genuinely excited about my pursuit and immediately gave me many options. With her help, I was able to choose a beautiful calibrachoa. She was nice enough to trim it up a bit for me, while also offering recommendations on care and watering. I tend to like to highlight when I receive service that I believe goes above and beyond my normal expectations. This was one of those occasions. Ava is knowledgeable and just has a radiant personality. A true asset to the staff at Ace.

Today I went to the Dixon store for two small hardware items. I spent considerable time in front of rows of small drawers, as did another customer, searching for one of my items. I think the other customer finally became frustrated and left the store after pacing back and forth looking for something for many minutes. We caught glimpses of store employees at the end of the aisle, but they never seemed to notice us . . . or care that we might need help. I finally found one of my items without help, but I had not seen the other one (Pop Rivets) during my time there . . . so I tracked down an employee and asked. The employee apparently hadn't heard of a pop rivet, so he called to learn where they were. When we finally arrived there, the selection was very sparse with only aluminum pop rivets available in any quantity less than 100. I resigned myself to traveling west on I-80 to the next Ace store where, no surprise, they had a better selection of pop rivets. If it weren't for the extra distance, I would always opt for "half the store with twice the stuff". Most days parking is a real problem at the Vacaville store . . . for good reason.

I didn't just show up randomly--I made sure before wasting my entire day driving there. I get there after two hours and, of course, they don't have it. So apparently calling ahead and getting confirmation means absolutely nothing here. Two hours of driving, traffic, gas, and my time completely wasted because someone couldn't take 30 seconds to actually verify their inventory. If you're going to tell a customer you have something, MAKE SURE YOU ACTUALLY HAVE IT. Would absolutely not recommend wasting your time dealing with this place.
