Azucar Fusion Desserts & Ice Cream is a newly opened bakery and ice cream place, located in the same plaza as Vons & CVS, specifically between HearUSA and Urgent Care (in the corner). I came by this new place last Friday around 7:30 pm with my husband. I was greeted by the young male behind the counter. He told us that we were welcomed to try any samples of the ice cream and gelato when we were in front of that part of the display case. We tried the flan and bread pudding. Both were good and tasted just like what you would expect these desserts to taste like, but were just way too sweet. So we decided to just stick with the baked goods. We ended up getting: Butter Mochi Cake, $2, tax included- My mom does not like really sweet desserts and so I had asked the young man helping me if this dessert was sweet. He said it isn't and offered to give me and my husband a sample. It wasn't really sweet and reminded me of this mochi bread that I had bought from a Chinese and Taiwanese bakery. The crumb of this bread has a nice chew (the mochi) and is not sweet. My mom liked it. Tres Leches Cake, $4, tax included- My husband picked this. I honestly thought it was too sweet so I wasn't too fond of this but my husband liked it. But the cake was soft and moist. Cake pop, $3 prior to tax- I picked this cake pop because of the pretty unicorn design on it. Inside is a moist, red velvet cake, dipped in white chocolate. This was pretty good. ------------------------------- (Total= $8, tax included) My baked goods were packed in paper cups (used to hold ice cream) which I thought was odd. But since they are new, I'm assuming they didn't have any boxes and wax lined bags to place my items in. To be honest, I did not think there was really anything special about this bakery but I do wish this new small business all the best of luck. I don't see myself coming back. Most items just seemed way too sweet for me liking, but of course your sweetness tolerance may be higher. Service was friendly. Please note that there is some seating inside and also 1 unisex restroom. And I can't stand overly sweet and sugary desserts but their cake pop/s was just the perfect sweetness and bite for a girl with a sweet tooth. First and foremost I'm a huge chocolate chip cookie enthusiast! Trying to find a decent cookie is pretty hard and I'm not talking about Mrs. Fields. I stumbled upon this cute swanky bakery shop while I was running some errands and right when I walked in I was greeted by JoJo. Off the bat she was absolutely amazing! All her treats are baked fresh daily and I didn't even get to try the homemade ice cream which also looked delicious! I got to try a lemon drop, snickerdoodle, this amazing cookie called the Texas sink ( I don't like nuts in my cookies but I had an exception for this one oh my god) and finally my main event the chocolate chip which was outstanding! I've had my share of chocolate chip cookies, on a ranking scale I'd have to give it a 9.3 out of 10! Jojo's Sweet shack (previously Azucar) is a great locally- owned spot for a sweet treat in Glendora! My boyfriend and I shared a sundae (2 scoops, 3 toppings, whipped cream, cherry), and you can tell everything is super homemade (in an awesome way). The ice cream is more of a Gelato that is super creamy and almost a bit gummy, kinda like Persian ice cream but not as gummy, but in like the BEST WAY. We got the oreo cream and mint chip (after sampling those and some others heh) and regular whipped cream (they also have chocolate!) and both were super delicious and creamy - just how ice cream should be! The other pastries and desserts look so pretty and delicious in such a cute display, but we were so full we couldn't! But they have cookies, brownies, bars, macaroons, cake pops, and whatever other sweet baked good your heart could ever desire. We will definitely be back to Jojo's sweet shack to try more! read more

Okay! So months ago, I signed up for a Yelp Elite event that was hosted at Azucar Fusion, but last minute, I found myself in Las Vegas on that day, so unfortunately I missed out on the event. I heard it was a huge success! Nonetheless, I never forgot about this place because it sounded so unique even on paper, I made it a point to travel out and try it for myself--Yelp event or not. Before arriving, I already kinda formed my own version of what this place was based on its website, Yelp listing, and Yelp reviews. To me, it's probably a family-owned, mom-and-pop-vibe, small shop with cute dessert ideas that aren't easily found elsewhere. The name Azucar is obviously in Spanish, so I was looking forward to trying all the flavors with Hispanic twists. (Spoiler: my expectation was mostly confirmed after my visit.) Upon arriving, I was greeted by the staff on duty, though I didn't get her name, and I wasn't sure if she was part of the ownership or not. What I was sure, however, was that she was extremely friendly, spoke with a very pleasant and calming tone, and definitely carried a smile on her face. This always put me in a good mood when visiting a shop, be it retail or restaurant. So off to a great start. I was here with my friend, and we were both instantly very fascinated by all the unfamiliar ice cream flavors available inside the display fridge. And indeed, on their website, they boldly claim, "...why can't we bake desserts that people grew up with and add a touch of flare? Why can't we make ice cream flavors that others may be unwilling to attempt? Our answer was simple, why not?" SO THEY DID! Ice cream wise, everything looked so colorful and creamy, I wanted to try 'em all--though I was only allowed 3 samples total. Fair enough, I purposefully chose 3 that had undeniable Spanish flare, because that's the whole reason why I came! Though I couldn't recall what I taste tested now (it's been a while), I remember thinking, alas, none really tickled my fancy. Don't get me wrong, they definitely tasted like what they're supposed to be, but I just didn't feel like getting a full serving of it. (I am over 95% sure I tried the Mexican Hot Chocolate, but did not end up choosing it due to its overly heavy cinnamon taste. I desired a more pronounced chocolate/cocoa flavor in the mixture.) No matter, because I ended up getting watermelon sorbet, which was DIVINE. It literally tasted like eating a fresh watermelon, except no work and no mess! So refreshing, so delicious, and so... LARGE. The portion they gave was way more than what I envisioned and needed. Pricing was reasonable, and for the amount you receive, it's a decent deal. Another reason to support this local business! Somewhat of an imperfection though, the longer I was eating my sorbet, the sweeter it got. At this point I realized their store name was no joke--they don't skim on their sugar! (But I actually wish that they'd since I'm more accustomed to milder flavor.) Just a side note: my friend got an acai smoothie made from the acai sorbet, and it was EXCELLENT. I liked her selection better than mine, in fact. I really believe it's a trial-and-error type of thing, as with all dessert places. You just gotta feel out what you really like. Pro tip: Yelp check in for a free treat. There's minor restriction with this offer, but hey, it's gratis! I chose to sample their peanut butter chip flourless cookie. The relatively small size actually made it the ideal check-in gift. The business won't lose out much, and I really didn't have much more room to process more sweets at the time. It was the perfect size! Sadly though, the cookie was also on the sweeter side, and not what I usually prefer. Again, not so much my cup of tea, but the worker told me it's quite the fan favorite, and I am sure there're tons of folks out there who'd agree. All in all, an absolutely wonderful snacks shop fueled by some pretty innovative ideas, albeit not a great fit for me. Personally, I give it 4 stars since taste wise, I wouldn't necessarily crave this level of sugary indulgence, but I'd most definitely recommend Azucar Fusion to my fellow Yelpers, friends, and family that aren't afraid of a bit of a sweetness overload. Come try it out to see for yourself. PS: if I ever return and happen to try out a flavor or a treat that's more in tune of what I like, I'd instantly upgrade my rating from 4 to 5 stars because the people who run this place just seemed lovely. I ordered my sons custom cake for his 1st birthday party seeing how many good reviews Jojo had and after my experience I had to write a review too! Jojo is extremely sweet, responsive and creative! I texted her and asked her to use the decorations I got for my sons "wild one" theme as inspiration to make an amazing cake! She gave me a a quote for both a cake and smash cake and kept me informed of payment and when to pick up. She responded right away to my texts, including pick up day when I told her my dad & father in law were on their way to pick up the cake(s). Both of them said she was very friendly as soon as they walked in, she asked them if they were here to pick up the cake under my name. My kids and I stopped by here after popping up on my Yelp as a Hot New Spot in Glendora. We walked in and it smelled very good inside!! They have a fridge display with frozen cakes and other goodies. There is a large display of baked goods such as brownies, cookies, and candy apples. And other goodies. Since it was our first time the manager, explained to us that everything was made with the best, fresh ingredients. They have two types of sorbets (no dairy), and two vegan options (made with coconut milk) in their ice cream case. This was nice having options with no dairy as my husband is lactose intolerant and always misses out on ice cream as there are few non dairy options around glendora. I tried a vanilla bean with toppings and it was delicious!! I am hooked lol My oldest had watermelon sorbet and she loved it. My youngest had chocolate chip yogurt and she never finishes her ice cream but she did this time around. I got my husband a watermelon and vegan caramel ice cream for him and he loved them both!! My expectations weren't high but even if they were they would have been incredibly exceeded. I went in today to scope it out, and was greeted so warmly by the owner. She explained the menu and how she makes each ice cream and baked good from scratch. My siblings and I all tried a few ice cream flavors and couldn't decide which one to choose because they were all sooo good. We all got child size scoops which were $3 each. I had the coconut coffee. It was AMAZING. My sister had the patriot marshmallow ice cream and my brother had the muddy mint (also super yummy). I appreciate how they charge for toppings. Instead of charging per topping, they charge per serving size. One topping includes 3 servings of toppings. Ex: by purchasing one 89¢ topping, I got a tablespoon of m&ms, a tablespoon of nuts, and a tablespoon of sprinkles. Or I could have gotten 3 tablespoons of m&ms. Anyways, I have the biggest sweet tooth ever and I loved this place and will definitely be coming back!!! Which is a big deal for me because I'm super picky when it comes to my sweets.
