Sara styled my hair and makeup for an important work function & was such a joy to work with from our very first interaction. She is professional, responsive and an all around wonderful human! My friend was a bridesmaid in a wedding she worked on so I reached out on a referral. I'm not great at putting on my own make up so I didn't know what to expect. I totally felt like I was working with a friend who was patient and listened to my concerns without just doing what she thought looked best. I wanted a more natural look and wasn't sure about the whole airbrush makeup concept and Sara was so patient with my 1,000 questions. She convinced me that she could easily create an airbrushed look without using airbrush. She uses palette paper and mixes everything with a pallet knife to create the perfect foundation shade. The makeup didn't feel overdone or heavy which was my main concern. We worked up to my desired makeup look with small tweaks here and there and I loved that she explained how small changes could really change my look. I have wavy hair and really didn't want an updo so we decided on a more polished version of my everyday look and she nailed it! Sara was such a fun and knowledgeable makeup artist to work with for my wedding! From setting up a consultation, to our hair/makeup trial, to the wedding day...she was professional, trustworthy, and kind. Prior to getting in contact with Sara, I was constantly searching for a makeup artist for the big day. Some artists were way too expensive, while others didn't have the style that I was going for (natural, but not lacking color and definition). Ok cool story - my boyfriend was nominated for an Oscar and I was the lucky +1. I live in San Francisco so finding someone in LA to make me look glamorous was a bit intimidating. I had to do a bit of research, ask for referrals, conduct interviews over the phone, and ultimately take a leap of faith with someone I'd never met in person. Sara and I had immediate rapport over the phone and she made me feel very comfortable with the process. In the weeks leading up to the Oscars, we regularly connected via Pinterest, Facebook, and phone. Yes, Sara got me to pin which I never do but turned out to be a great tool for both of us. The big day comes and Sara shows up at my hotel with two rolly bags full of supplies ready to work her magic. She did my hair first and wow, did she nail it. I have short curly hair but she managed to create a beautiful up do which is exactly what I hoped for. Next up: make up. Sara starts by taking out her pallet (like a real pallet that painters use) and mixing and matching all the colors she wanted to use.
