We went to the rink in downtown and I was in the mood for a smoothie. I saw across the street that there was So Fresh so I decided to try it. I stepped inside and it was a cute little quaint place. Not big but a few tables, cute decorations and multiple kiosks. You dont place your order traditionally which was different only because if I had questions then id have to wait for someone to come to the front. Not a big deal to me but elderly people might have issues. I ordered 2 smoothies, a chicken, black bean and cheese quesadilla, and a fruit cup. Ready for the total? $33..... insane. The prices are very steep. If you go in for just a smoothie thats a little more acceptable but to pay $5 for a couple strawberries, half a banana, and half an apple is crazy. The smoothies are also not even that great. I got my son the strawberry banana one and it was so bland. I got the sunrise sunset one and it was somewhat flavorful. I did ask my son if he liked the quesadilla. He said it was good so I have to take his word on it. I dont eat gluten so I didnt try it. I will say after waiting about 30 minutes for our stuff, the guy who worked there was very nice and brought it out to us. Im not sure if thats their policy or it was just kindness but I did appreciate it. All in all its a 4/10 for me. Too expensive for too bland of flavor. read more

Well, I really had high hopes for this place. I love sweetgreen, so was expecting something similar but was very disappointed. The food was very expensive for the amount you get, every ingredient on the bowl was a bare minimum amount, nothing had any flavor, only when you added the sauce or kind of had a taste. I don't love fast-casual much these days, but SoFresh gets it right. Food is always fresh and cooked right - here you see any ahi tuna poke bowl with the hoisin sauce. Lots of flavor in this bowl, nice and crunchy vegetables (even the seaweed was fresh). People here are always nice too. Great lunch spot downtown that you can't go wrong with. read more

I was visiting Pittsburgh for a half marathon and wanted something a bit lighter the night before the race. After searching Yelp for a good salad, SoFresh stood out. I downloaded their app and was able to quickly place my order and as a bonus, I received $5 off of my first order. The salads are already very reasonably priced, but it was a steal with the first order offer! Their signature bowls looked great, but I decided to build a custom salad. I opted for romaine, red quinoa, tomatoes, corn, onions and tzatziki. I do wish they allowed for a couple additional add-ins without a charge. The salad was ready within the 20 minute window they gave me, so I was able to quickly grab and dash back to my hotel. The red quinoa with lemon was the star of the bowl. It was rich and vibrant, while adding some much needed (healthy) carbs to the dish. The rest of the ingredients were fresh and all melded perfectly. The tzatziki was okay, I honestly wish there was more of a kick of flavor to it. This would be a perfect spot for a quick lunch or dinner on the go, although they do have indoor seating. read more

There are a bunch of options build your own bowl, wrap, and salad options. You get to choose your base: rice, quinoa, zoodles, kale, spinach, etc. 3 mix-ins: including all of your standard veggies, some fruits, sunflower seeds, etc. extra $ mix-ins: avocado, eggs, bacon, all of your cheeses. Protein (extra $): chicken, shrimp, steak, tofu, salmon, tuna, beyond sausage. And finally, the most exciting part, the house made sauces: standard dressings - ranch, Caesar, basaltic...sweet chili, teryaki, bbq, and a few others. I went with zoodles, mushrooms, onions, broccoli, garlic herb chicken with the house-made sriracha sauce on the side. For $10.50 ($7.50 base + $3 chicken), it might've been slightly overpriced for the portion. In general it had good flavor, but there was a bunch of liquid at the bottom of the container (before I added the sauce). Could've been the zoodles or the broccoli though...the house made sriracha was tasty with a nice zip. Overall, a good spot if you're looking for something quick and healthy. I recently visited SoFresh on Highland Avenue in Pittsburgh and was disappointed with my experience. The protein portion in my order was noticeably less than expected, measuring under two ounces. The bowlsare way to little and filled more with vegetables than protein, which was frustrating given the price. Additionally, the micromanagement of ingredients was evident and detracted from the dining experience. I used to be a regular customer, spending $23 daily, but this change in portion size and management approach has led me to seek alternatives. Other establishments, like Chipotle, offer more generous portions. I will not be returning. The black guy and the white guy the cook are selfish with the portions and they're attitudes are Terrible! They definitely need new management! read more

Veggies don't tend to come with a lot of flavor, yet these guys somehow make them taste fabulous without adding a ton of grease, salt, etc. There are so many options too - you can mix together your own bowl or choose from their recommendations. I'm a big fan of the skinny warm bowl with tofu. It is a bit more expensive, but that can be expected considering they use fresh fruits and veggies all the time. It's worth every penny. It has a great blend of healthy foods and is filling all the same. Plus, somehow the kale in the bowl doesn't taste like...kale. It's good! The food is very healthy and still flavorful. This was our first time trying SoFresh and got delivery tonight for dinner. I got the Cali bowl and the hubs got the Boca Fiesta wrap. I have no idea why I've never tried this place before. I love a good healthy meal that is filling and tasty and SoFresh really hits the mark on both of those. The Cali bowl was delicious and I loved the freshness of the ingredients and the fact the dressing was on the side. Another perk for me was the bowl wasn't chopped into an oblivion. So many salad places chop up the ingredients so much you can't distinguish a piece of lettuce from a piece of chicken. But not this bowl. The Boca Fiesta wrap was stuffed as full as a large burrito and really delivered on flavor with it's little kick of spice. The multi-grain wrap was soft and tasty. It didn't taste like cardboard, which is often the texture of grain wraps. All of the flavors of this wrap worked perfectly together. Pros: Ingredients are super fresh Wide variety of pre-selected items Flexibility of build your own options Packaging for delivery is fantastic Flavors are unique and delicious Cost is great for healthy, fresh food Cons: Not one con on my list!
