    2pc Spicy Chickenjoy Combo Meal $10.49 (06/25/24). @Jollibee @JollibeeUS #JournalSquare #JerseyCity #NewJersey #FilipinoFood #Pinoy
    Jeff B.

(Dined/Tookout 06/22/2024 SA @ 3:00pm): This was the jolliest bee ever... and their food showed it, too! In my quest to explore the various cuisine scenes throughout Jersey City and specifically the Heights, I finally made my way to Journal Square's Jollibee location. To be frank, I loved the Jollibee brand and enjoyed the ones I've visited in Los Angeles. Now, this was going to be my first one outside of California which added more excitement for me. Based in the Philippines, the Jollibee brand was the largest and fastest growing Asian restaurant company in the world in addition to other brands under its umbrella. To be clear, this was a chicken-foward eatery. Now that I already disclosed to be a fan of this brand, would I be a jolly bee at this particular location!? PURCHASE 2pc Spicy Chickenjoy (Drumstick & Thigh) + Mashed Potato Side + Gravy Side + 16floz Minute Maid Pink Lemonade Soda Combo Meal ($10.49): "Chickenjoy", their delicately hand-breaded signature fried chicken with crispy skin and amazing juicy marinated meat, these two pieces were just as tasty as I've remembered. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=Y4NrmPFFxD_b1ijU3ddNzw The mashed potato was creamy and feathery while the gravy was other-worldy and paired well when you dipped the chicken into it. I wish I had a scoop of rice to pour it over. And, the soda did its job of quenching my thirst. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=pD5pfCpd7cMBhE_iYA3ylA Spicy Chicken Sandwich Deluxe + Crispy Fries Side + Peach Mango Pie + 16floz Mugs Root Beer Soda Combo Meal ($12.00): I had this one to-go for dinner, and I barely waited after I got home before I started eating. The sandwich had a luscious large chicken patty, thick tomato slice, a leafy green, and a spicy sauce all between a lightly-toasted bun. This was a lovely two-hander. The fries were hella crispy and plentiful, the pie was piping hot, crispy, and juicy, and I always enjoyed a nice root beer. A wonderful dinner! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=FHxnsH0AQdu9s2P3XsfPag SERVICE I was helped by the same friendly young female who quickly took my respective orders, and wished me a nice day. Each order was ready minutes later as I waited nearby. For my dine-in meal, I easily found a table in the back and went to town. You filled up your own drink cup (don't take advantage of this). Once I was done, I dumped my own trash (don't be lazy). Everything was easy-peasy - salamat po! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) This was a moot point since I took the 20-30-minute walk. I noticed a few parking lots in and around the area, but there seemed to be plenty of spots along the main drags of Kennedy Blvd., Bergen Ave. and all surrounding intersecting streets. Better yet, take the PATH train - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A sizable space with an open ordering and waiting area while you had several tables and chairs along the left side of the restaurant that extended deep towards the back. While there were promotional posters on the front windows, the inside was fairly clear of such things and was very clean. Minimal natural lighting came through the covered and tinted front windows and door while a ton of electric recessed ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=G3DR6AcQVP3jtKF3HYoDfQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Jollibee's Journal Square location checked all of the boxes, and I would gladly return to get my Filipino fast food fix the next time I was in town. I loved everything I ate, the portion sizes were adequate, the prices were a tad high, and the service was straightforward and easy. The menu https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=JwDKcxMMMr66GWScsNanNQ was also simple with some standard Filipino dishes and various combo meals. I normally didn't make a habit of supporting major chains, but dammit, I have nostalgia and national pride with this brand. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $24.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Stopped in recently and ordered the combo meal with adobo rice , a side of mash, and spicy chicken. Everything was tasty. You can taste the spices in chicken. The meal left me full for the whole day.

My first time at Jollibee! TBH, I was very surprised at how delicious this chicken was. I ordered the spicy fried chicken sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich had spicy mayo with fresh jalapeños. It was breast meat, but you could tell the chicken had been well brined. VERY moist, probably the most moist fried chicken breast sandwich I've ever had. Very unexpected. The fries? Equally as delicious. Better than McDonald's. If you don't believe me, you should definitely go try them. Jollibee for the win!

Jollibee is a fast food chain specializing in fried chicken, burgers, spaghetti and other Filipino dishes . One of the best fried chicken cooked in Filipino way , I like the extra crispy one and of course with the spaghetti plus the peach mango pie. Service is good and fast plus the friendly staff members available to make your dining experience really good and wonderful. The place is busy and the staff are quick in cleaning up those vacated tables used. Bathrooms are coded so that the people who'll be using are real customers of jollibee. Nice place to enjoy the famous Filipino dishes. Not so expensive fast food restaurant with relaxing atmosphere.

Can't go wrong with good ol fashion spicy chicken and palabok. Sure sometimes service is slow but it happens everywhere fast food. At least here at the end you get some of the best spicy chicken

Keepin it real in Journal Square I love that this exists here in JS. Customer service top notch as usual, can be measured with Chick Fil A even. The interior is actually nice, but does have constant traffic. You simply can't go wrong with Jollibee, we pretty much got the whole menu (almost). Only thing lacking is the chicken sandwich, juicy but the chicken itself just didn't hit compare to previous times, and the lettuce is pretty old and dark in certain area. But still, good experience! Will def visit again, either here or Woodside.

I didn't know that Jollibee existed. I always thought that Popeyes fried chicken and their batter were the best. After trying out Jollibee i changed my mind. I loved their spicy options and their batter are crispy and delicious. The food taste good after a day as well. Definitely worth coming here for more

Convenient for commuters. Grabbed a few snacks. The fries were legit. Service was kind and quick. Ample seating. Could've been a little cleaner but it wasn't bad.

Crazy busy at this location but you would expect that at the mall and this is probably one of the best they have to offer at the mall. Everything is fresh and hot. We think the fried chicken is better than Popeyes. The peach mango pie is our favorite, it's a fried crust that's warm and crunchy with the sweet fruity goodness inside. The pineapple quencher is also very refreshing. I cannot have just one. Service could be a little better but then it is a crazy busy place with good food but expect to wait a little while for your food alll day long.

I have visited two Jollibee locations and this one is my favorite. I just felt like this location had better customer service. The food was hotter and delicious. The space is more inviting and my children and I love to make a visit every time we make a visit to Jersey City. The spicy chicken is the best. It's clean, juicy, and the gravy it comes with is a plus to add to the chicken. My daughter loved her chicken sandwich but thought it could have been a bit spicier, and OMG! Watch out MCDONALD'S their fries were amazing. I say this gets a thumbs up from the whole family. Happy Yelping!

I went to this spot on noon on a weekday and the staff doesn't seem equipped to deal with the lunch crowd. Also CRAZY OVERPRICED since it's at a transit hub All I ordered were large fries and it took 10 minutes. There's not enough staff at this location to handle the lunch rush and the food isn't that special from what the overall franchise is supposed to serve. I feel like this spot doesn't do the whole chain justice. Waits are way too long and food isn't good enough to stand around for 15 minutes for overpriced chicken meals

Food (4/5): The spicy chicken sandwich and chicken tenders or bone in fried chicken are absolutely amazing here. Especially the sandwich, the chicken is amazingly crispy, large amount of meat, and reasonably priced. The fried chicken or tenders are also very good and quality. My issue is with the other items on the menu. For example, the yum burger is small for an unexpectedly high price for a fast food burger. It also isn't anything special and you taste too much bread compared to meat. Also while the Palabok is good, for the price you get a very small portion. The spaghetti is definitely an acquired taste, which I don't personally like. It tastes like spaghetti with canned sausage and tomato sauce. Venue (5/5): For a fast food spot, it's quite spacious and clean. There is a lot of seating and conveniently located right outside the Journal Square PATH. Service (3/5): The food comes out a bit slow compared to other fast food places and the people aren't necessarily friendly like on Chick-fil-A. Having come here multiple times, they will sometimes mess up your order too. Quite frequently they will mix up the spicy and regular chicken.

The pork belly karee was good with a nice savory and crispy flavor. The garlic rice was a generous serving. The pork bbq skewer was probably my favorite with such flavorful meat and sauce. Service (4/5): No issues with the service with the waiter helping us with questions and getting us seated. The food took a out 10-15 minutes to come out. Ambiance (4/5): Nice shop interior with a medium size and plenty of seating. The light decoration are cute and the entrance with the garden sign looks quite nice. There is Booth and chair seating on wooden tables. Some of the tables look a bit worn out but overall still a nice shop.

Hadn't been to Max's in many years (as in close to a decade!) and, honestly, it wasn't as good as I…read moreremembered ... or either it wasn't great the previous 2 times I had been, but I was starvinggg to the point I can eat a hippo. First, and, foremost, GETTING HERE. Parking can be a nightmare in this busy part of Journal Square as I assume most customers will be driving to get here. Parking is not allowed on the side of Newark Ave. that Max's is on and it feels like the cars parked across the street are parked there for an eternity. There is a small (and VERY tight) parking lot with about 15-20 parking spaces about 150 feet west of the restaurant, but, once again, spots are a premium and there will definitely be a few "campers" inside waiting for that 1 car to leave. If you're lucky enough to find a parking space, when you finally walk in, the restaurant looks relatively small at first as the 1st floor has a few tables, but, they do have a 2nd level as well, which I sat in the previous times I dined here. The menu is a collection of classic Filipino faves, predominantly comprised of pork-based appetizers and entrees, which are the real cornerstones of the Filipino diet. Yes, there are non-pork foods, like chicken adobo, pancit, laing, but, if you're here to really feast, you HAVE to order something with pork in it. It's a rite of passage. On my most recent trip to the restaurant, we arrived at around 12pm on a windy Saturday afternoon and, we were very, very fortunate to get a table for our family of 4 as the restaurant was pretty busy as a large party of about 15 people took up 3 combined tables alone. Since my wife ordered ahead of time as I was circling for parking, I didn't really get a chance to take a close look at the menu, but it was far from my first foray into Filipino food so I already knew what was "good". Quick recap of what we ordered and thoughts. LUMPIA SHANGHAI Classic Lumpia Shanghai served here. Addictive to keep eating them. The pieces are a bit on the tinier side, but, nevertheless, great appetizer to wet the palette. Definitely kids approved according to our kids. LAING I typically love Laing (taro leaves cooked with coconut milk), but, for some reason, the taste was a bit odd to me this time around. Typically, the coconut flavor usually really comes through and dominates the dish, however, not this last time. It was decent and my wife loved it, but I wasn't a huge fan. CHICKEN ADOBO Nothing spectacular. Not to minimize the effort that probably went into making this, but it was basically chicken dunked in a ton of adobo sauce. Yes, it was tasty, but I didn't feel like it was something I couldn't make on my own at home. CLASSIC PORK SISIG Where was the sizzle?????? This was an entrée I was reallllllly looking forward to. I LOVE sisig, especially when it's hot and sizzling, which it was supposed to be, but it was just OK once again. Also, we probably should have ordered the crunchy pork sisig, which is supposed to have bit of lechon crunch in it. It was OK, but we've definitely had much better in terms of heat, flavor and crunch. LARGE GARLIC FRIED RICE Solid garlic fried rice. Honestly, I might have enjoyed this the most - sadly. Make sure to ask for some vinegar on the side as well so that you can let the rice soak it up. Service was good throughout. Our food came out quickly and the waiters/waitresses were attentive. Just wish the food was better than we anticipated.
