    Mmm M.

Buying my car from East Toyota has been the most horrific car purchasing experience I have ever had. I was greeted by Sam Jamarillo who was professional at first which led me to believe that purchasing a car from this location was a good decision. During negotiation, he remained informative and professional. He offered new winter mats, detailing of the car, and fixing a crack in the windshield. As soon as the ink dried, the finance associate Matt Schnell became grossly abusive and offensive. He made remarks about how I did not need to read the contract. He impatiently flew through the warranty packages stating that the package included the gap insurance. Two days after the purchase, I emailed Matt to refund the warranty because my credit union could offer me a better price. Also, I was well within the 30-day window to cancel the warranty. The conversation, with Matt, to refund the warranty included abusive emails from him stating they "fund close to 10 million a year" and his "office knows where to send the check." I needed this information because my credit union loan officer requested this timeline. Matt's conduct is unprofessional as he was withholding information regarding refund amount and timeline. I responded that I appreciate his patience as I am not familiar with the process. Matt responded with another abusive email stating, "I told you multiple times the amount of the refund was the full purchase price of the warranty plus tax. I do not do computations for it. The office does. Then they send it to your bank. I apologize for not replying quickly enough, I had a bit of time off. That said, with all due respect we are 14 emails in on a process that takes one. At no point did you mention anything about cancelling the maintenance, and you specifically said you did not want to cancel gap." This is a blatant lie. I specifically stated to Matt , prior to this email, that I wanted to cancel the entire package, including the gap insurance. On 7/19/23, I contacted the regional manager, John Wineke, and shared that I do not feel comfortable having further conversations with Matt. John stated he would have the paperwork ready for me to cancel the warranty package when they fix my windshield on 7/26/23. The cancellation request paperwork was completed that day. I had service done that same day. When I picked up my car, there were no winter mats or detailing of my car. Only the windshield was replaced. On 8/18/23, I received a document in the mail stating I have been enrolled and charged for the warranty package at $595.00. I contacted Chris Laughnan, Service Manager, whose name was on the document. Chris had no knowledge of the document and said he would look into the issue for me. I have opened a complaint case with Toyota Corporate to help resolve this issue and hope they can intervene to find a solution. My interaction with East Madison Toyota has been abusive and a spiral into continued chaos. Based on my interactions and a string of grossly unprofessional emails, I no longer trust any interaction from East Madison Toyota and will now only go through Toyota Corporate.

Since then, we have taken multiple vehicles in, for everything from basic oil changes to suspension replacements. An anecdote: there was one time one of my control arms broke while driving and I had my car towed there. They looked into the issue, and Chris called me to let me know that Nissan would probably cover this under warranty, because there had been what was almost a recall, but you had to actually experience the problem first (they wouldn't replace them preventively). I didn't know about this, and they could have just diagnosed the issue and done the repair themselves, and I would have been none the wiser. Instead, they saved me hundreds of dollars. Their work has always been reasonably priced and completed to our satisfaction. I'm glad that Aaron, who had been operating as the main mechanic as it was, purchased the business and is continuing on as Syverson Automotive. I also really like the small shop feel -- if there's a question on the work done or recommended to be done, he's right there and you can actually talk to him. The only negative: it can take a bit to get in sometimes, so give them a call a couple weeks before you might want to be scheduled, if you can.

I've also realized that if you have a specific advisor/consultant you can jump the line! One guy did this. Note to self--- have a favorite advisor/consultant on speed dial to jump the queue for checkin. At 8:55 finally completed checked in. It's now a 1.5 hour wait for oil change and brake fluid (code B17). I declined $500 of up-charges for preventative maintenance (that seemed reasonable) as it would have been another hour. Not sure why I was given an appointment if this is the service level. The person in front of me was told the same time for just an oil change. Hope the wait is a situation of over-delivery. I've been going here for over 4 years (when I moved to the area) for my 2018 CRV. Today I asked to use my accumulated "points" towards today's service, and was told they all went away when the dealership was bought out. Bummer again. Hum. I've had no service issues, but wondering if it's time to try the other Honda dealer in town as it's a similar distance to my home. Oh, none of the coupons on their website could be used as my tire rotation is "free" since I bought my tires here. That counted as a coupon. They do have a fun coffee machine and a small bowl of packaged snacks. Unfortunately the snack bowl has been nearly emptied by the crowd of people waiting for their card to be serviced. The Advisor was efficient and knowledgeable... thus the 3 rating. In reality, as I'm very annoyed with the checkin wait, inability to use advertised coupons, and service wait, I'm feeling a 2 but being kind. Its not the Advisor's fault that the appointments appeared to have overwhelmed the garage staff! Why book do many people for 8:30 that are waiting?

He gave an extensive report & photos showing our 1999 JEEP could not be on the road anymore as I was going through a divorce having medical bills I was forced to keep my jeep functioning but sadly the WI SALT RUSTED the underside frame. Mike then helped inspect a VAN we were considering from a private owner to ensure it was a good safe vehicle for the price/milage vs price having more knowledge & experience than we do as previously I bought vehicles from dealerships but being disabled on fixed income I can't be stranded nor had money for any surprised repairs. This was so helpful to us to make sure we invested our money into a used van that will meet our needs for $6600. He gave us knowledge to handle this transaction with the title & checked so we were not scammed as we experienced looking for a used vehicle on CRAIGSLIST....that seller was lying that we caught them scared us because we are struggling it is SAD to almost be harmed that MIKE'S ASSISTANCE took away so much stress that is priceless when disabled, poor & suffering other issues.
