I see the hype! Cute establishment. Expect a wait during busy weekend rush hours. Very fair prices. I opted for the: Chicken Pot Pie - Yummy! Good portion size and very filling. The filling was delicious and had a great amount of flavor from the chicken and carrot and peas. However, note that the pastry crust is the only at the top here. No bottom or side pastry, which is a bit disappointing. Comes with a salad too, pick your own dressing. I opted for ranch. Bacon Cheddar Burger - Good. I like that you can also choose a side as well. We opted with the fries. Good portion size of bacon alongside the fries. Our server albeit very nice, seemed very busy with the other customers. Open from 8:00am until 3:00pm daily, most of the savories unavailable until 11:00am, Coffee should be a pass for all but those willing to tolerate acrid drip while menu-advertised Skim Milk was apparently unavailable at 8:45 on a Saturday. Known primarily as a Bakery, specials joining the daily offerings based on season, it was after a quick stop in the Microwave that two Muffins and a Cinnamon Roll were delivered, each with a ball of chilled Butter that proves necessary for moistening both of the former and all but the center of a glazed spiral. Less sweet than usual across Carrot Cake as well as Pecan Pie, though in the case of the latter an inspired choice that ranks amongst the best of its kind, Quiche falls short due to insipid Crust plus a laughable side of flavorless Fruit while "Banana Walnut Pancakes" incorporate neither into the Batter and tries to sell Artificial Maple Syrup as acceptable by placing alongside a mountain of Whip. read more

You can't go wrong with anything they bake. I love their chicken pot pie. It's fresh, flaky and buttery and it has the right amount of veggies to meat proportion. Very well seasoned. I tried other items here as well. I wasn't a fan of their country fried steak. Their pot roast was good but not as tender as I would've liked. Portion sizes are huge so take that in mind. The employees here have always been super nice and welcoming. They mmakw sure they keep your coffee filled etc. It's the little things and I love that! Bake n Broil is perfect for any time of day. I've been here several times at different hours of the day, open to close, and the food is always awesome. Dine in or take out, I've never had a bad meal from here. No matter what you order, you truly cannot go wrong. Even though they always have a bit of a wait, I love that they have picnic tables and a small covered dining area for guests to sit while waiting to dine inside. This was my first time at Bake & Broil. I've heard about it from several friends. We also saw it featured in the LA times so I really wanted yo give it a shot. The ambiance is really cute from the outside all the way through the restaurant. The staff is very polite and welcoming. I ordered the turkey sausage and spinach omelette & seasoned hash browns. It was really tasty and a very generous portion. I also had the blueberry muffin that was an option with my breakfast. Yummy!! I went on a Wednesday morning so it wasn't crowded. My friend and I came to get breakfast on Sunday at 8 AM when they opened because we knew it would get busy. We had our coffee refilled about a handful of times by a few different people, and we were never left waiting for our order to be taken, the check, a to go box, etc. The attentive staff absolutely made me want to come back! Bake n Broil never disappoints for breakfast. The wait can be long so try to time it out or snag a spot at the bar if you have a small group (first come first serve). My usual is the chicken fried chicken, which comes with hash browns and two eggs any way. My girlfriend got an omelette (forget which one). I had one time I got the fried chicken and eggs over easy and the waitress noticed the eggs were over cooked (more like over hard) and replaced them immediately. I'm torn. I love Bake and Broil and have been going several times a week for a while but lately they've been falling short on my pick up orders. Yesterday, they missed my extra ranch dressing for my fries, even though I was charged an extra $0.75. Today, they missed the side of sour cream for my chili. This review is for the Apple pie that was given to me. I loved the filling, which was deliciously tart and sweet. The apples were great. I didn't like the crust. I love this place. This is the only place where I will get the red velvet cake (and cupcakes). So disappointing that they are no longer open for dinner. We loved the traditional comfort foods such as baked spaghetti, chicken pot pies, burgers and sandwiches all good! The service was always really good. This place is really solid for breakfast. Love the food and the service. At the time of this posting (with current COVID restrictions) there isn't any dine-in seating yet and you must order at the counter before sitting at a table to eat. The line usually looks long (cuz the food's good) but it moves quicker than you would think. I usually come here on Saturdays (my cheat day) and load up on all the best unhealthy things, and so far I've loved everything. They have a lemon blueberry pancake that is awesome. Their muffins are always fresh too and they change regularly which is fun. The only downside to this place in my opinion is the location. One side of the outdoor dining area is right on a very busy street so occasionally you'll get super loud annoying trucks and cars speeding by, which is disturbing when you're just trying to enjoy a quiet breakfast and cup of coffee. Also, that side is right where the sun rises and there's not a lot of shade. If you can, get a table on the other side where there's more shade and it's a little quieter. read more

They had an unexpected power outage about 30 minutes before I arrived. Thankfully, they could still sell me a red velvet loaf for cash. I might have stayed for the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo special to get a slice of cake but not today. I saw lots of workers standing around and the manager didn't look happy. I was impressed that their prices were reasonable, not inflated like other brunch places in the Long Beach area. I appreciated that all their ingredients are fresh and that they do not use preservatives either. I forgot what first brought me here but it's certainly not a short drive here. I guess unluckily for them, it's not closer otherwise I would be here weekly. The menu itself is much like an upbeat diner menu. There's burgers, sandwiches, etc etc but for me personally I'm always about the breakfast menu. Breakfast in the morning, breakfast in the evening, sign me up. Arrived here at 9AM on a Friday. There's parking on the street but it's a little tight so everyday except for Sunday you can park across the street in the local church parking lot. Table for one. The crowd was a hodge podge of people, many senior citizens, many college students, and everyone in between all looking for good food. A short wait and we were seated. Looking around, the environment is very bright. Everything is white and everything looks very clean. The arrangement is a little weird, there is a counter that has some seats. And along the way there are table here and there. There's also a back room. I ordered the Turkey Sausage/spinach omelette alongside seasoned hash browns. You also get a choice of toast or muffin and you will certainly thank me when you decide on the muffin. They do run out of muffins so get there early. They are freshly baked and will arrive at your table steaming hot. As far as my hash browns, as they should always be, arrived very hot and very crispy. You can get the regular hash browns but the seasoned ones have little peppers along side. As far as the omelette, delicious. The eggs were very fluffy and the cheese perfectly melted. Cutting the omelette open reveals a nice mix of spinach and turkey sausage. Oh yes, it's also a very large portion. The food all delicious and made to order each and every time. I'm also a coffee drinker and I would say the only let down here. It's has decent flavor but it's light coffee and not strong enough for me. I think perhaps they want to go easy on the coffee in case some people complain but who doesn't like a strong cup of joe. When I stare down into my cup of coffee, I don't want to see the bottom of the cup. I want to look down into that mug and see a vast possibility of flavor. Ok, now for the reason I actually came. The fact that there's delicious breakfast is just a major bonus. My sister was feeling under the weather and they have a banana cake here that would raise her spirits. In fact, there are so many various muffins, cakes, and pies that are very decadent and I have tried a few so far and they have all delivered. I tried the cake many months ago and I can say that it's best I've ever had, so far. I hope to find banana cakes in the future that will rival this one. Once my breakfast was paid for, I went to get the cake and to my dismay was told they did not make it that day. Everyday but this day, no cake. One of the employees that was helping me said he was going to get the cake but he brought me banana cream pie. I understand they both have the word "Banana" in them but pie is not cake. One star off for that, I checked in days prior and they said they have the banana cake everyday so I didn't think I needed to call this day. I ended up getting her carrot cake but I know it won't do as well. Maybe next time. read more
