They were quick to refill our plates so we could continue cooking throughout the entire hour. We also had the bibimbap and both types of scallion pancakes. While you can order food Al la carts for about $35-$45 I recommend you just get their combos, it's about the same price as ordering 3 dishes al la carte. Our order servers about 2-3 people with all the sides they gave me and the quality of the meat it was definitely worth the price. Clearly, this is the only way to demand answers from the Robber Baron that runs this establishment for my virtuous whistleblower and his comrades. I'll set the stage. My Droogs and I were at the end of a high-end weekend of debauchery, activity, and consumption. The kind of weekend that refreshes the mind and body by three years, putting you back mentally to a quiet place in nature where the word "bothered" is a foreign concept. Collectively, we had 6.5 hours of sleep but we were running on full throttle. No less than 140 pints had been consumed in junction with some of the finest meals a gent can seek in this mecca of cuisine. We spent the afternoon recovering our spirits at the RussianTurkish bathhouse sweating out our sins and repowering our minds as we watch an Uzbek beat a portly fellow to a pulp with a couple of oakleaf bundles. Don't fret, the portly man appeared in good spirits while the rest of the 30 guests melted away in the Banya. At that very moment we were officially back. The Droogs enjoyed a cold beer to dive back in. After the suds were extinguished an elder decided to make a few rude unsolicited comments, which we promptly shamed with our midwestern modesty. Up until that point, we had not engaged an unpleasant fool. It clearly was a one off, likely because she could not handle the heat that shaped this land. Prides herself on her Subaru's CoExist bumper sticker and the multicolored words about what she believes "in this house." How ironic she had a mental breakdown surrounded by the actual ethnic variation that is the Eastern Europeans who flock to Ukrainian village for a reminder of ancestral struggles on a Saturday afternoon. Her demeanor did not impact us one bit. We commenced our journey to return to the Brahmin's penthouse in Prospect Heights for a brief reset. However, we witnessed a few locals share a crack pipe on the L which was disheartening as a 6 month old and her mother sat in close vicinity. We stepped aside and had a moment of silence. After paying our respects, the Brahmin welcomed us back with a tribute to the late legend, Brad Arnold. That was beyond necessary. The sun went down and the temperature dropped substantially. Negative 14 degree wind chills ripped up our foreheads as we make our way to Jongro. Upon entrance, we were placed in the front corner of the room. It was as if we were being sequestered from the remainder of the patrons. We sat down and within 5 minutes realized it was no more than 51 degrees in the restaurant. Something was seriously wrong. We proceed with our endless platters of meat but could not overlook the subtle hints of Siberia that permeated that room. It simply made no sense. In hopes of warming the patrons, the staff offered hot water. This was largely useless but the thought was nice. The staff was pleasant and focused solely on going above any beyond. We were notified that the front door had been broken for months but the owner refused to spend any money to fix this. The staff made countless complaints but the manager had no influence over this Scrooge McDuck figure. It's obvious he sits in a mansion in Thailand spending limitless amounts of Bahts on drugs and Kathoey but cannot provide the most basic repair to the infrastructure of this establishment. This man behind the curtains must be outed. Worse, the restaurant limits reservations to two hours. The only one who suffers is the staff. You can exit this restaurant in -14 and still feel more comfortable than the interior of Jongro. 4/5 Food; 5/5 Service; 1/5 interior; Make sure you bring your mink parka because this is the type of environment that will make you violate your religion. read more

I love this restaurant ! We come here often when we're in K-Town. From the outside, you would never know this restaurant exists and you could easily miss it. Pretty good KBBQ spot in Ktown! I've been here a few times for lunch and dinner, and lunch is definitely the way to go with the various lunch sets. There are two combos I like getting - Cold Noodle + LA Short Ribs or the Soybean Stew + LA Short Ribs. Good variety of banchan here but the kimchi is a little too sour for my taste usually. We definitely overestimated ourselves haha Upon entering with reservations, we were brought to our table (booth style seating). The interior is much larger than you would think from only looking at it from outside! The staff were quick and efficient as they brought us drinks and helped to answer our questions about items on the menu. After ordering, they quickly brought out the bbq additions and side dishes. While everything was quick, at no point did we ever feel rushed. Service was absolutely on point! Their steamed egg comes to your table and they cook it at your table instead of bringing it to you already cooked, like they do in other Korean restaurants. That itself was pretty cool and a welcomed different experience. It tasted sweet, nice and hot, and fluffy! The bbq itself was excellent. They came back in time intervals to cook the meat for you, in batches, and never once over or undercooked. Never dry and had a good bite to it. They also explained the cuts of meat they were cooking so you knew which parts you were eating- very informative! The quality of the meat was definitely noticeably higher than the cuts you'd see at say, an AYCE bbq restaurant. The dipping sauces that came with the meat paired wonderfully. You might already know but wrap the meat with lettuce wrap and top it with the side dishes to really elevate each bite! I haven't had KBBQ in a while, but some friends who are regulars invited me to dinner here on a Saturday night and we had a blast! They don't take reservations on the weekend, so be prepared to arrive and put your name on a waitlist that can be up to an hour long, which was about how long our party of 4 waited. (The good news is you can easily find a spot nearby to have a drink at while you wait) We were seated at one of the many booths with the meat grill in the middle and given 2 large bottles of water for the table. We started by ordering 2 bottles of peach soju, which was the flavor my friends recommended, although they said they wish they offered yogurt soju. We ordered the Large Beef Platter with La Kalbi Corn Cheese, Soondubu Jjigae, a Kimchi Pancake and the Ddukbokki (Spicy Rice Cake) with Crispy Noodle Rolls. The Large Beef Platter is designed to feed 3-4 people, and I can safely say this kept 3 of us stuffed! Members of the staff come around and bring the meat and cook it for you at the table in rounds, so as you eat, more meat is being cooked, which is wonderful because it's always hot and fresh! Accompanied with the meats lettuce to make wraps, salt, oil, sauce, and kimchi, as well as some vegetables and mushrooms from the grill. The pieces were sooo tender and delicious, I forgot to use the sauce for most of it! The accompanying corn cheese side was pretty good, but not a favorite. One of my favorite parts of the meal was this tofu/egg like soup that was served. I really enjoy eggy flavors, so this was perfect for me and was steaming hot! I enjoyed the crispiness of the kimchi pancake and the flavors were balanced well. Finally, the spicy rice cake dish was wonderful in the gochujang sauce and the crispy rolls we opted for were soooo good. I can't really describe the flavor but it was incredibly tasty. Our table of five shared the Large Beef Combination Platter which included prime ribeye, beef skirt, brisket, marinated sanche cut and marinated kalbi. You have to look up at the signs, it's near the Citibank. I came for the yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), and I can honestly say their version is the best I've had in K-Town. They threw in a steamed egg banchan, which was AWESOME. The portion size is generous, definitely enough if you are by yourself and just want to eat one dish.
