I had an unfortunate red wine spill on fairly new carpet. I called Jonny on the Spot and Carl answered the phone on his way to another job. Since that job was not far from me and he had some time in between appointments, Carl stopped over a few hours later. Since I only needed his minimum clean he was able to take care of me "On The Spot". Stain gone, I'm happy, and I know where to turn should this happen again. First of all, the person handling phone calls was very helpful and knowledgeable, and the serviceman was friendly, clean and polite. However, the end result was not so much. I asked for the living/dining room area and hallway to be cleaned, I paid extra for stain pretreatment (I thought that should have been a given but ok), and a deodorizing treatment (I have old pets that have peed all over the place). The place definitely looks better, but here are my issues: *He asked to use MY aluminum foil to protect the furniture - Aluminum foil? Heh?Even Sears brings styrofoam blocks) I would like to be reimbursed. *He did not protect all of the chair legs for some reason - very random *He did not appear to have cleaned under my dining room table - it was not wet. Why? This is NOT a big place, I think he had time. *As I said, I paid extra for a deodorizing treatment - the place still smells like pee More than just lodging a complaint, I wish to speak with the owner - very poor practices. Unprofessional and rude, are the only words to described this operation. Sorry their is no negative scale available for them. Purchased a Groupon to have two rooms and a hall cleaned. When my wife called to schedule they told her we were 4 miles outside of their service area, and would have to pay extra travel charges. They said they would call back with a date and time for the service, and never did. I called them three days latter an their Boss told me he had not called back because we were outside his service area. I informed him that we are in fact inside his service stated b area by 2 miles and simply wanted what we contracted and prepaid . He refused and would not issue a refund. I called Groupon, they apologized, and issued us a full refund. A web search shows numerous complaints about this firm demanding travel and additional charges. read more

Buyer beware! I hired Johnny On The Spot to clean my living room sofa. It was mildly soiled and overdue for a cleaning, but otherwise had no significant stains (which the technician noted during his initial inspection). The first bad sign came when the technician took a personal call in the middle of the job - he even turned the machine off and continued to talk. I was in the next room, and when I heard him chatting on the phone, I walked into the living room and looked right at him. Undeterred, he pretended I wasn't there and continued to chat. Finally he hung up, mumbled "Sorry," and went back to work. It wouldn't have been a big deal, except that several hours later when the sofa cushions were dried, I discovered that they looked exactly the same: still mildly soiled, as before. They had barely been cleaned at all. I called the manager Michael the following morning. He said he was still at home and would call me back later that day or the following day ... and I never heard back from him. I was completely ripped off, and I would advise anyone to think twice before using Johnny On The Spot. read more

Amazed by the service of this company! Not only did they answer their phone before business hours, but they were super accommodating with appointment times. They were extremely professional upon arriving, and extremely thorough. They even left us some extra solution to clean the floors (although they were here to clean carpet tiles). Not only did they say they would come back if any smell was still remaining, but 5 days later, they followed up and called me to check on the results. They were very reasonably priced as well. We had 3 years old carpet and with a baby on the way we figured we should get the carpet in the rooms steam cleaned. On the phone they advertised the special of 59.99 for two rooms. We had two guys come in an hour before time which i thought was great! Since there were no stains we thought this would be an easy enough job. The guy started off telling me that i absoultely need to pay an extra 19.99 for pretreating the carpets otherwise there was no way he could do a good job. A little peeved by that i figured that "they are here lets get it done with". The guy kept saying for every little thing there is a reason we are so cheap cause we don't do this and we don't do that and went on to explain that they used a cheaper machine and.................................................. I bought the carpet cleaning on YouSwoop and could not have been happier with my service. I had a guy named Carl and he was probably the nicest guy I have dealt with in the service industry. He was very polite and helpful. He was also done in a matter of an hour and paid special attention to the problem areas. I gave him a tip and with his reaction it appears that many people don't tip the guys who come to their house. He thanked me about 10 times and told me how grateful he was and how much he appreciated it. My carpets look great and I am extremely thrilled with my service. I highly recommend!!!! This company did an absolutely fantastic job! The white colored carpet was badly stained, including pet stains and odor from a sick English bulldog, but surprisingly every stain came out and the carpet looks good as new. Carl worked especially hard and we took advantage of the three added services - - pretreating, pet odor removal, and Scotch-guarding. I had high hopes for Johnny on The Spot but they disappoint through and through. I made an appointment with them after purchasing a Groupon for $59. They were late and then informed there was an additional $10 travel charge which is not a big deal but they should have informed me ahead of time. I knew it was extra to have certain areas or spots pretreated. I declined the service thinking the carpet as a whole would look much cleaner in the high traffic areas despite the few problem spots. When they called me to tell me it was done, I was in shock as it had only been 20 minutes. I knew the carpet wouldn't look perfect but I did think it would look cleaner than it did before. It didn't even look like they had used soap it looked exactly the same! When I called to voice these concerns the woman was incredibly rude and hostile. She offered no solution other than it was my fault for only using a rental machine to clean the carpets previously so they couldn't really get it clean. I don't think it was cleaned with ANY sort of cleaning product. It's unfortunate when companies treat Groupon customers with terrible service just because they got a deal. Groupon was very nice and did refund my money so it wasn't a total waste. I would stay away from the sub-par service at Johnny on the Spot! read more

I called to schedule a couch cleaning and was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get an appointment right away. The technician arrived within the service time window and did a decent job. I would have given them 4 stars but the $10 travel fee they charged me felt a little dishonest. I was using a Dealfind and there was no mention of this on the voucher or the ad. Because of this I did not have them clean anything else. It was not the technician's fault, he did what he was suppose to do but if you are going to be underhanded and tack on a hidden fee then maybe if something goes wrong with the service you won't back up your work.. read more

I have now used Johnny on the Spot twice and had a great experience both times. The first time I used a YouSwoop and had my two bedrooms (white carpet) cleaned and they were prompt, friendly, and did a great job getting stains and soil out of the carpet. I've had other companies in and they by far got it the cleanest. The second time (today) is why I felt I had to write a review - my 2 year old son broke open an entire ball point pen on my white carpet and I couldn't get it out. They were able to fit me in their schedule and went above and beyond to make the spot disappear. So much cheaper than replacing the carpet, and they were great to work with to boot. This company performs amazing carpet cleaning magic!!! I asked them to clean the carper of a rental condo I own--and it was filthy with dirt, wine spills and such. Warning -- if you want an honest businessman to work with, do not go to this company. The owner, Michael Grills, will blame you for everything that goes wrong in your carpet cleaning process. He arrived at my house and proceeded to berate me for my dirty carpeting. Umm, that is why you are here! To clean the carpets! The carpet is now dry and I have marks that were not there before. I have cream colored carpeting with blue spots. I called him in good faith to see if he could stop by and look at it. Instead what I got was an argument and then told that since it is more than three days past the time they were here, he won't take any responsibility. So, along with this review, I am also contacting the BBB. He is not ethical nor will he stand by his work. I will also make sure that Angie's List hears about this. Do not do business with this man or Company. You will be very sorry. There are far better carpet cleaners out in Chicagoland that will help you bring life back to you carpets. read more

If you have any cat urine stains you're trying to get rid of, don't believe Johnny on the Spot when the company tells you it MAY be able to get it out. THEY DON'T! The company had no problem leading me to believe that it was possible, but when I got this almost new 8x10 rug back, which had been pee-ed on perhaps three times, it was as bad as when they picked it up. And unfortunately, the owner Michael is atrocious when it comes to customer service - he didn't want to hear about it or offer any solution other than threatening to charge me again if he took it back and the urine didn't come out again. More disconcerting was his interrupting, raised voice and talking over me during our phone conversation. The only compliment I can give is for the professional service of one of his underlings who politely and adequately cleaned my furniture. I am a Realtor and I recommend Johnny on the Spot to all my clients, especially before we put their property on the market. Johnny on the Spot has revived some of the worst carpets I have seen in homes preparing for sale and the seller does not want to replace the carpet. I even had a client say that the spots on their carpet were cleaned by other means and never came out, but after Johnny on the Spot treated the carpet they were amazed that the stains were finally gone! Even as recently as last week, Johnny on the Spot was called in to clean my clients interior stairs lined with carpet that was so dirty I would not walk on it barefoot. I was pessimistic about how it would look after cleaning, but I should have known better...Johnny on the Spot came through as always and made the stairs look fabulous! The name should be changed to "Jonny No More Spots"! I have white/creme carpet throughout my house and let me tell you you see every spot! I had never had it professionally cleaned before (aside from me using the "rug doctor"-which was a BIG MISTAKE!) The tech called prior to his arrival which gave me enough time to put my animals in another area of the house. The tech looked over the area's that needed the most attention, and also made some recommendations to clean my upholstery. D'oh why didn't I think of that?! He gave me a discounted rate for this cleaning as they were running some kind of special-Once he was done cleaning everything (about 2 hours total from arrival to departure) I just waited for the carpet and furniture to dry-this does take another few hours and I suggest using a couple fans to speed up the process. It is now a few months later and the carpet is just as clean as when the tech did them. I should mention that he did scotch-guard (additional fee) everything so make sure you get that service. I will be forever grateful to Jonny on the Spot!!!! read more
