So l" I paid $750.00 to have a small section of my small 100sq ft kitchen cleaned. What we had discussed wasn't even close to the service that they provided. When I asked the owner about why so much filth was still on the floor, he became extremely argumentative. He then proceeded to tell me that if I actually wanted the floor clean it would be 3,000 instead ! What?! I would stay far away from them if you actually want anything cleaned. I highly recommend Michael and his team at Jonny On The Spot! Wow did we get lucky. One of my neighbors at our condo took a leaky bag of garbage down our front carpeted stairwell. It stained the carpet and smelled awful. I called Jonny On The Spot and spoke with Michael. He gave me a ballpark estimate and in speaking with him I was very impressed by how knowledgeable and honest he was. We had to wait with the stench for a couple weeks to see if our management company could provide a better quote. They didn't, so we scheduled with Michael. He gave a slightly revised estimate once I called back with measurements and then I opted for some extra treatment but we were still way under the mgmt company's qoute. I should mention that this is a low pile industrial type carpet that is over 15 years old and has only ever been vacuumed. Never washed. We're the first building by an alley and restaurant grease is visibly tracked up the stairs. So it wasn't pretty even before the garbage leak. Michael and team showed up on time. I tried to get the polish out with copious amounts of nail polish remover, alternated with vigorous scrubbing. The stain faded but was still prominent. I searched for 'Dear Heloise'-type tips online and moved to ammonia next. Desperate measures for a desperate woman! I called Johnny on the Spot to the rescue. My crisis management team quoted me $10 per linear foot plus $25 extra for the spot cleaning. They also warned that the nail polish and surrounding area (stained with acetone and ammonia) may not come out and that it could damage the fabric. At this point, I was happy to pay $175 for a chance the stain could come out vs. $1500+ for a new sofa. I left my keys with the front desk so they could have entry to my condo while I was at work. They called on their way over, and once again with a final estimate. Coming home after work, I was all pins and needles in anticipation... and walked over to a spotless sofa! I called Jonny on The Spot on Thursday night and they gave me an appointment for Friday Afternoon. Phew! The time windows service places give you (ie. we'll be there between 1-5 PM) are pretty annoying, but JOS said they would come between 2 and 4 and they promised to CALL 30 minutes in advance. They did and were there by 3PM - not too shabby. The actual carpet cleaners were friendly, professional, and accommodating. They got us the best deal with our coupon and scotch-guarded the main room even though it was technically "two" rooms. Woot! I'm impressed. The overall experience was painless. I purchased the You Swoop which entitled me to 600 sq ft of cleaning. I called to make my appointment and was told that there would be an additional charge to clean my area rugs (at the cost of $1 per square foot) which was not covered by my You Swoop. I reviewed the details of the You Swoop and there was no indication that area rugs were not included. When I inquired about this I was told that area rugs require different equipment and that they would have this equipment on hand when they showed up for the appointment and I could decide at that time. They showed up early (suprising because usually service folks show up at the end of their window and sometimes later) so that was a step in the right direction. He quoted me a price of $50 for cleaning my 8x10 area rug which I agreed to but then asked him to throw in the 2 small runner rugs. The price then went up to $75. Also there is definitely a hidden charge of $19.95 for pre-treating. That wasn't even offered up as an option to waive. In all it ended up costing me $94.95 plus the cost of the You Swoop to get all my rugs cleaned (I only have one small patch of carpeting so I didn't even come close to the 600 sq ft even including my area rugs). I wasn't ecstatic about the price but it was a better value that some of the other places that I checked out. Well imagine my suprise when he was done with the area rugs, my carpeting and the two rug runners in about 25 minutes including the pre-treatment. It should be noted that there was no need for additional equipment to clean my area rugs and when I questioned the technician I was told that that is only required for wool rugs. Why then, was I charged an additional amount for the area rugs? I was told that they required different cleaning solutions - which was not pointed out in my discussion during the appointment setup. What was also not mentioned is the $19.95 pre-treatment which, from what I was told, was absolutely required. What I find most interesting is on the receipt I received it is stated - No Pressure! No Gimmicks! No Hidden Charges! Fully Insured! . In fact, there are hidden charges ($19.95 for pre-treatment) and there are gimmicks (stating that differenct machinery is needed for area rugs when in fact it was not). I certainly feel that the additional $94.95 that I paid was just a gimmick to hit up all of us folks living in condos with very little actual carpet and mostly area rugs to cover hardwood flooring. While the service was excellent and the rugs look great, I will NOT use them again simply because I feel they are not honest in their business practice. The You Swoop said 600sq ft of carpeting and if it didn't inlcude area rugs that should have been stated... and if it requires additional machinery, then don't use the same machine as you used for my carpet and charge me additional. read more

Purchased a living social deal on a 3 rooms carpet cleaning with Johnny On The Spot. I made the booking and had the carpet clean today. Carl was very professional and did a acceptable job on the cleaning process. I asked Carl to move the couch 3 feet to the left (just sliding it over since there's carpeting on the fllor) and he said he'll do it but he's not supposed to move any furnitire. The deal was "Service includes deep steam cleaning, color brightener, deodorizer, and sanitizer, as well as basic furniture moving and vacuuming" as stated online. I hired Johnny on the Spot to clean the ceramic tiles and grout in my kitchen, hallway, and bathroom. The tiles are a light beige that have a lot of grooves that were really gross, and the grout was dark brown that was originally a tan color. I tried cleaning them myself, but nothing ever really worked. I received an ad from Johnny on the Spot and decided to call for pricing. While it was more than I anticipated, it was a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing the grout. The receptionist also informed me that I could get the promotional pricing to have my carpets cleaned since the tile job qualified me for their job minimum. Good deal. Here is where they lose a star (really only half though). They advertise air duct cleaning, so I asked to have them do that as well. I was informed that they no longer clean air ducts in condos "because it doesn't work well." Now, my condo has its own system independent of anyone else and all I wanted was the dust cleaned out. I was disappointed they wouldn't do it. On to the actual work.... I was given a two hour service window, 11-1 and they called at 11:30 to say they were on their way. Danny and Carl arrived by 12 and explained to me what they'd do the the floors and exactly how much it would cost (before doing any work!). They showed me a sample area of how it would look when they were done and got to work. By 1:30 everything was complete. The tiles look great and the carpet is clean. The grout isn't quite perfect, but they explained that sometimes when the original seal isn't too great the color is too stained to be fully restored. Compared to before, everything looks spectacularly clean. They fully dried the floors before leaving, gave me after care instructions (no shoes, only socks for a day, don't wash for 48 hours to allow new seal to set in). Highly recommend them. read more

After 4 years of living in a very dusty high rise, it was time to get the carpets cleaned. I saw the groupon and purchased it (I think it was $45 for 2 rooms. Something like that.) So carpet cleaning has a bit of a science to it (especially if you have pets/pet urine to clean). You first have to treat the carpet with an enzyme to loosen the dirt/dust and then the machine uses water at about 160F to pull everything out of it. **** the groupon does not include the enzyme, therefore is you want the deeper cleaning, you will need to be quoted for it. The cleaning you receive with the groupon gets about 60% of the way down, the enzyme gets you to about 90%. I opted to get the deep cleaning, and I paid extra for it. Mike on the phone was fine. I see a lot of complaints in these reviews on Mike, but come on guys. He schedules appointments, ease up. Carl was the one who came to my house to do the work. Carl was efficient and polite. He had some difficulty finding parking, but he finished everything on time. What I appreciated most was that he took the time to explain everything. What he used and why he was using it. He also was very thorough in his instructions as what to do after he left while everything was drying. The results were fantastic! The original color of the mattress is back and I can breathe again. Everything dried in about 8 hours. I would absolutely recommend these guys, but to avoid problems mentioned in other reviews - get a quote first. read more

It was kind of a sign from the heavens. *story alert* See, my roommate and I hosted a party some weeks back and we had about 25 people stuffed into out deluxe apartment in the sky...and then the inevitable happened. My roomie's toilet got backed up and overflowed. Mine, being connected to hers, suffered the same fate. Was it pee? Was it water? I don't know...but my toilet ended up overflowing all over my carpet. And then the mold and mildew began. f. my. life. So, soon after, I got my Johnny On The Spot Groupon email and I knew at that moment I had to call them. I love the guys so much who cleaned my carpet. I should have baked them a cake or something. They were very professional and even got to my place early! They got in every nook, cranny, crevice,etc. and cleaned our party stained carpets and sanitized and handled my mold situation. They moved my furniture around and handled all that stuff while I caught a Michael Jackson video marathon on Fuse. Very pleasant experience. After calling for an appointment, I was told that a technician would "try to fit me in" to a two-hour time slot. Great, I thought. I've never had a carpet cleaning professional actually give me tips that can help me between cleanings. For example, I love to sprinkle scented carpet deodorizers when I vacuum my carpets every week. Michael revealed that it's impossible to vacuum the deodorizer powder completely out of the carpet, so they sit there and attract soil. Ugh! The benefit might not outweigh the damage that I'm doing. I've tried a number of different types of cleaning services, and he also explained what happens with each technique, the pros and cons. Who knew? I have tremendous respect for people who are passionate about their work, no matter what kind of work they do. I compliment street sweepers, if I can see that they care about doing a great job. STAY AWAY!!!! TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH! I bought a you swoop deal which should have covered my whole basement. I explained to them I had pets etc. when I scheduled it and they said no problem. There was a bit of hassle with Mike when I called to schedule because my building requires that a certificate of insurance must be on file before a vendor comes in. Lorena at the insurance office was really on the ball - sent over the certificate with all the info required - super. The technician called on time but took 15 minutes travel time to get here - OK, when he arrived he got right to work. I opted for just the plain vanilla cleaning and that worked very well because I'd already pre-treated pet hairballs and such. I'd moved most of the small stuff so there was lots of bare carpet. Paul, the tech, just lifted furniture as he came to it and put little plastic squares under the feet so there would be no rusting. The carpeting was dry after about 11 hours. When I made the appointment by phone, they told me the deal did not include pre-treating, sanitizing or deodorizing and they did mention the $10 travel fee. I declined all pretreating and other extras and there was no hard sell. The rooms looked great when he was done and he even got out a couple stains I thought were permanent. The only reason I took off a star was he said the carpets would dry in 6-8 hours, but it was more like 24 full hours before they felt fully dry to me. I have nothing but praises to say about Johnny On The Spot. There was a puzzling odor issue in my apartment, and Mike turned out to be my knight and shining armor. Not only did Mike talk me through the best method, he also took the time to speak with the condo manager, and revised the certificate of insurance three times to the condo boards specifications. Did I forget to mention this was the day before Thanksgiving? Exactly. Amazing. Since he knew I was having a really hard time with the odor issue, Mike came himself to treat the area. He met with my condo manager, walked him through the process and did a very thorough job. Oh, and he also showed up 5 minutes early. When other companies had quoted me thousands, JOTS only quoted me a couple hundred. So if you complain about the cost with JOTS, I'm sorry to say that you're just cheap.
