Delicious food and convenient. We went to Bar Harbor during the off season and stayed at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel. Due to a young toddler and unexpected moods we ordered take out every night to avoid annoying other diners. We ordered from the Bistro three out of the four nights we stayed there. The salmon and mussels were clean and fresh in taste but filled with so much flavor. I did not bloat from salt. As for the tenderloin medallions, it was cooked to the perfect temperature we requested and was tender to bite into. My only issue was the service. The first night, when I went to pick up the food, the service was great. The individual that gave me my check and food was so delightful. But the second and third night, another individual, was rude in her responses. I understand it can be busy but there wasn't a need to respond with a tone or to look at me up and down like I have four heads. The view inside the Bistro itself was beautiful and serene. It isn't a large place but definitely date night worthy. Would definitely still recommend going but make reservations when busy. read more

After our first day exploring Acadia National Park -- scaling cliffs and convincing ourselves we're "moderate-risk" adventurers -- we decided to skip the Bar Harbor crowds and dine at The Bistro on Eden, conveniently located at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel. The view? Lovely. The vibe? A little... off. The place has that "it could be nice if someone cared just a bit more" feel -- not bad, just lacking that spark (or maybe a good interior refresh). My husband, on his noble quest to sample every lobster bisque in Maine, declared this one the worst of the trip -- and trust me, the man takes bisque seriously. My beet salad with picked lobster was actually quite good, fresh and nicely balanced, which saved the meal from total disappointment. Service matched the décor -- polite enough but not exactly engaged. It had that subtle "we're doing you a favor" energy, which really pairs best with... no one's martini. Speaking of which, I had to remind our server to actually add the olives to mine. Small details, big impact, friends. In conclusion: go for the view, not the vibe. There's potential here, but it needs a little love -- and a lot more attention to the bisque. read more

Good atmosphere and good service. Nice spot for lunch if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of downtown Bar Harbor with good parking options and a decent view of the harbor. Beautiful views of the water from this restaurant with floor to ceiling windows. We sat near the back wall and still had lovely views. Service was excellent. We were seated quickly and our server was attentive but never made us feel rushed. Staff team worked together well in delivering food and clearing dishes. I chose the beet salad with a crab cake as my entree. It was very good. Usually I ask for dressing on the side and forgot this time but the lettuce was not soaked in dressing. It was very well done. Husband had the special of fettuccine Alfredo and crispy chicken which he said was very good. Prices were reasonable. Parking easy. It's part of a hotel but we were welcomed as a not hotel guest. Inside the Atlantic Oceanside hotel & conference center is East of Eden a cute bistro with 12 tables with a small bar. We are seated overlooking Frenchman's Bay. The reviews are a 4.5* out of 5. I'll report after our meal what I thought. We are starting with a focaccia with a garlic parmesan balsamic glaze dipping sauce. Kris is having a caesar salad with salmon & I opted for Fried Calamari. It pleases me that my bride thoroughly enjoyed her meal. My wife's salmon was cooked to perfection. The caesar salad with salmon was a solid hit as was my calamari. Many times calamari are chewy not tonight they were as tender as I've ever had them. Our waitress Brittany was kind & not pushy. Tonight's meal was a good one. Kudos all around!! read more

How cute could this place be? A great view and fabulous service and food. The crab cakes were the best we have had on our new england vacation so far. The lobster dip was very creamy and delicious. Great spot just outside of central Bar Harbor with delicious food, amazing views and excellent service. When we arrived we were the only people seated outside for a while and service was still quite attentive. I appreciated that there were gluten free options marked on the menu. We started with the lobster dip and it was so good that it was gone before I could snap a photo. The corn chips were warmed, which was a nice touch. I had the maple bourbon glazed salmon. I don't normally like sweet glazed but this one was great. The bourbon nicely balanced the flavor from the maple. My husband had the mushroom ravioli and said it was fantastic. The portions were pretty generously sized so we had no room for desert. I highly recommend getting out of downtown to check out this restaurant! read more

New England clam chowder is hardly a clam chowder and more of a potato bacon soup. Crab cakes were burnt and have more breading/filler than crab. Lobster dip had slight coloring as if it had lobster but primarily just tasted like cream cheese. Which appeared curdled in spots. Servers stood around chatting and seemed like everyone in dining area was waiting longer than they should have. They bring out multiples tables worth of food at once since they have to take the patio stairs to bring it to you. Im really glas we did not order mains. A small cozy place for a wonderful dinner with someone special, Bistro On Eden has a gorgeous view of the trees and water. The service was exemplary and the food was delicious. My husband and I started with cups of clam chowder and were not disappointed. It was creamy, flavorful and definitely had clams in it. We followed that with the green salad which was refreshing and crisp. For our main dish we shared the lobster with mashed potatoes and corn. The only thing we left part of was the corn on the cob. This is a place we would return to if we are ever in Bar Harbor again. read more

Call me grandma, but the best meals I had in Bar Harbor were right inside my peacefully sleepy hotel! The first night here, I made a reservation because I was too exhausted to venture downtown. I am so glad that I did because the food was delicious and I ended up coming back on my last night. Now- it is a small room tucked inside of the lobby. So make a reservation with the front desk. There are only 8 indoor tables plus the bar so it'll fill up. Since I dined here twice, I was lucky to sample several offerings. In a stereotypical tourist move, I went with a lobster roll. For $33, expectations were high. It exceeded my expectations and it exceeded the roll in was served in. The lobster was literally pouring out of the roll. It was fresh and delicious tossed in a light coating of mayo. It was in good company with a big bed of shoestring fries and coleslaw. Another winning item was the clam chowder. Stick with a cup serving because it's rich and heavy and has the potential to derail your meal if you go in to aggressively lol. Seriously though, it was excellent and full of clams and not filler. There was good amount of potato on there too but the clams were the star. My favorite dish of all was actually the crab cakes. Do not allow yourself to be sidetracked too heavily by the lobster offerings when you can indulge in the most heavenly crab cakes drizzled lightly with aioli. Even if you aren't a guest of the hotel, it could defined be worth your while to make reservations and dine in. The atmosphere is completely different from the downtown eateries. It's a quiet greenhouse type room overlooking the water. It's calm and quiet. It's not a turn up establishment lol. It was perfect for the relaxing mood that I was looking for. The servers were very kind and efficient and the prices were on point if not slightly higher than the other downtown options. It'll be my first choice when back in Bar Harbor. read more

Bistro on Eden might be one of the best kept secrets in Bar Harbor. We stayed at the Atlantic Oceanside for 3 nights. We ate at the Bistro the first night out of convenience. I had the fish and chips. The fish was lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. The fish was wonderful- not fishy at all. The fries were crispy and salty - super yummy. My husband had the flatbread and ate every bite. Our waitress - her name started with an M - can't believe I don't remember. Ugh. She was so kind, attentive, and friendly. The inside space is small but there is outside seating on occasion. The room has a fireplace and large windows that overlook the water. It isn't fancy but the food is worth it. The next night we drove into town but the waitlist for several places was over an hour. We decided to go back to the Bistro and place a to go order to eat on our balcony. I had the salmon with sweet potato fries and broccolini. My husband had the fish sandwich. We both ate every bite. An additional treat was the Maine Root Ginger Beer. We absolutely LOVED it. The crab cakes, burger, and clam chowder were delicious. The lobster bisque was pretty expensive and hardly had any lobster in it so wouldn't recommend. The ambiance is super cozy with candles and flowers. It was a fine experience but if you're exploring bar harbor I'd recommend somewhere else more exciting. read more

Great food in a beautiful setting ! During my stay at the Atlantic Oceanside I ended up dining here twice and both times I was happy with the food and service. Pretty much tried all the appetizers and salads on their menu. Everything was delicious and fresh. Especially liked the crab cakes and Caesar salad as well as the house salad. At $11 the salads are reasonably priced and the quantity was decent. I also liked Mussels but wasn't a big fan of haddock bites (it's only my personal choice because my partner thought they were great). They have an extensive wine and beer menu along with a full bar. Do ask for their cocktail specials. Although I didn't try their pomegranate martini it sure did look like a popular choice among the guests. I liked the blueberry wine though. Also loved blueberry pie with ice cream (it goes beautifully with blueberry wine). It was a perfect way to finish our delicious meals. Left the restaurant satiated and happy :) read more

I thought when I arrived and found it was a hotel restaurant that it would be mediocre. I'm glad to say I was wrong. My husband said the fried fish was just right, not too much breading. My mushroom ravioli was delicious with plenty of mushrooms and peas. The sauce was a little too heavy but I just ate as little as I could. It was served with broccolini which was a nice addition. My daughter said she liked the chicken Parmesan but didn't love it. My wine was Portuguese and was delicious. read more

I never leave reviews, but I was disappointed by the lack of attention we received at this restaurant. We visited in the late afternoon with a party of 7. Food took a very long time considering we were the only table in the restaurant. It was especially frustrating that some food came out significantly later than the rest. We were told that it was because the kitchen was on a different floor, but it felt like an empty excuse for a lack of urgency. Some of us were halfway done with our food before the rest was brought to the table. After waiting extra long for her sandwich, my mother found a mysterious piece of lint in her food. The manager offered to make another, but we couldn't wait an additional 30-40 minutes for a wrap. The sandwich was comped. I understand that between peak hours a restaurant may be understaffed, but if they are open, they should have the staff and resources to accommodate a single table without issues. read more

I'm not normally a fan of restaurants in hotels: they tend to cater to the captive audience of hotel-goers and this restaurant is no exception, unfortunately. The main dining room has a lovely view but on the evening we were there, the heat was cranked. In July. I have kids and we ordered the kids pizza and kids pasta: plain with butter. The pizza was basic fare but the pasta came out littered with pepper. Apparently "plain" doesn't translate in Maine. Our Lobster Dip appetizer was the best thing - but cream cheese and lobster bits isn't hard to mess up. Against my husbands concerns, I ordered the flatbread with steak. It was basically beef jerky on a saltine. The lobster pot pie was a wonderful value with tons of lobster. We had the soup of the day: potato and chicken and I think the chef dumped pepper in that as well. There are so many amazing restaurants in Bar Harbor: don't waste your time with this one. Service was lackluster at best. The waiter begrudgingly refilled waters and came over demanding where my family went (the restrooms are in the lobby). I'm sure if the weather was nicer and we were outside I could forgive the food - but it was pretty bleak. My advice: skip this. read more

The first time was amazing! Delicious curry scallops with coconut milk. The manager was a charming blonde lady who told us the kitchen would be happy to make a curry chicken, so we returned three days later. The service was terrible, serving other tables before us even thou we were there well before them. The curry was so bad completely different and overly spicy, I left half my plate. The manager was not on duty and the the staff cannot be trusted to provide decent service. What a disappointment such a dramatic shift. Too risky to ever return. read more

I picked out the Bistro mostly for the view, which did not disappoint. The food turned out to be pretty tasty as well. It is a bit hard to find, but eventually we found it it located inside the building with the event center. There wasn't a hostess, but we asked the bartender who told us we could seat ourselves. We chose a table in the corner next to the windows for the best view of the water. I started with Clam Chowder which was delicious. My friend's tomato basil wasn't as good though. For my meal I chose the pear and Brie flatbread which was amazing. My fiend ordered the salmon and she raved about it. I was disappointed that they would not honor the Yelp check-in deal for a $2 glass of wine however. I would recommend the Bistro for dinner with a view, just don't expect to use your check-in deal. read more
