Great local restaurant! I had the clam chowder, shrimp and fries, and a lemonade. The cup of chowder was small but chock full of clam and very tasty. The shrimp was the star of the show- well breaded and fried, and I got at least 15 shrimp. The fries were good as well. The lemonade was alright, but I got a free refill. The interior of the restaurant has seating for about 40 patrons comfortably. We found it somewhat by accident as we were looking for lunch in Northeast Harbor & kept driving as there is ZERO cell service in both Seal Harbor & NE Harbor. It's about a ten minute drive from the Thuya Garden to the Inn & Restaurant. They lose a couple of stars here: (1) being out of avocado, and (2) putting ice in my drink after I specifically requested to not have ice. That being said, it was nice to not see their own T-shirts & koozies for sale on the way out. And the portion size of the Club Sandwich was outstanding. Also, their crab cakes were also very good. The restroom was clean, but tiny. Parking on site/street was limited. FUN FACT/DID YOU KNOW? The Seal Harbor Post Office is actually located right next door. read more

Server was very nice and pleasant. They were busy and they were short staffed, so we did have a bit of a wait. Seemed to be an old home, turned restaurant, with a nice little bar area and beautiful wooden floors. I will say the food was good and well worth the price. The En Croute was a tad rich and short on the seafood meat, but the pastry was perfect! Overall, we would give it another try, and probably order something different off of the menu. read more

We stayed in the Airbnb below the Lighthouse so I stopped in for lunch one afternoon. It's an old timey bar feel with friendly staff. The hours are odd especially towards the end of high season. The lunch menu and dinner menu vary drastically. They tell you up front if they are out of a menu item which happened when I visited. Their poor fryer also went out so that limited the menu some more. However, as long as you're flexible, you'll find something to eat. I got the lobster roll and it was good. They are known for their soups and chowders and homemade pie but I didn't try those this time around. Maybe next time. read more

This was a nice little find. Spending most of the day at the National Park, we were looking for a beer and sandwich. The park was not the spot for all that. If you blink you're gonna miss this place. The staff was attentive and knew the names of local patrons. The food was home made and the draft local beer was nice and cold. I don't know what the chef was going for, but I'm pretty sure I've had more flavor from the juice in a can of tuna. It was thin, grey, and suspiciously tepid -- like it had been reheated using a hotel hairdryer. The clams? I'm convinced they were either from a can or donated by a sea gull with a sense of humor. And here's where it gets surreal. My partner and I visited recently for breakfast and both ordered the blueberry pancakes with no idea of what to expect. When the plates came out, we were both BLOWN away - these were GIANT, fluffy, buttery pancakes filled to the brim with blueberries. Neither of us could finish them, despite us both being champion pancake eaters. I'm still thinking about these pancakes three days later. Cons: the interior really needs a face lift as the tables/chairs/decorations look seriously outdated and old. Also they do not have any outdoor seating which is an issue with COVID. read more

The Pond House (like usual) was super busy so the husband and I decided to eat here instead. I didn't look at the reviews because we had no service. So glad I didn't. The Lobster Roll (asked for it hot) was pretty tasty and even better than the highest rated Lobster Roll place that we recently visited. It was packed full of meat. There were a couple fries that tasted a bit freezer burnt, but nothing that ketchup and ranch can't fix. My hubs had the BLAT and he enjoyed it, as well. Oh, and we only waited about 15-20mins-no complaints. We also asked for fries instead of chips. There was no mention of an upcharge so when we got the bill, we were surprised to see that we were charged an extra $5, but whatever, all-in-all, it's not as bad as everyone says it is, and still worth eating here if you can! read more

Based on some of the negative reviews and the low overall rating our expectations were low. Oh were we surprised. It was a busy Saturday but we were seated quickly. All I can say is just ignore the negative reviews and read/follow the positive ones. The lobster stew and seafood chowder are a MUST ORDER - you will actually regret not ordering the bowl vs the cup. It's FULL of delicious pieces of lobster in lobster broth that is freakin awesome. My shrimp marinara pasta has 8 jumbo shrimp! EIGHT huge shrimp! I was stuffed on shrimp and lobster by the end of the meal. But save room for the pie. My husband and I shared the strawberry rhubarb and it was worth over eating for! Both the dishes were awesome. Fantastic wait staff and the waitress, warm n welcoming atmosphere too. The place was quite packed but still they served quickly. The desert menu is interesting and looked delicious! They not only have restaurant but they also have lodging in the same premises. The parking is no pain as they have a huge parking lot in the rear inspire of street parking! The lighthouse Inn is at a fabulous location, they have a beautiful beach close by and maybe you can plan to pack some food from here n sit by the beach and eat! read more

My group of 15 (all family) was hungry after some hiking in Acadia National Park. My brother-in-law is a regular visitor to this area and suggested Lighthouse Inn which was on the way back to our rented house. No one had cell service so I was unable to check Yelp reviews which turned out to be a good thing. The first thing I appreciated was that Lighthouse Inn has their own private parking lot behind the building so we were able to easily park our two cars and minivan. Our group of 15 kind of ambushed them as we walked through the front door unannounced but they took it in stride and greeted us warmly. At 2pm there were just a few people at the bar and and three or so parties at tables. It wasn't necessary but they pushed a few tables together for us and got us started with drink orders. I will say that service was a tad on the slow side but I'm not going to hold it against them because we did hit them with a big group for which they were not staffed. Service was really excellent considering the circumstance and the entire staff was friendly and cheerful throughout our time there. This area of Bar Harbor has little cell reception so I was happy to notice signage indicating free Wi-Fi. I asked for the password but neither of the two employees I asked knew it but they did go find it so our group of data starved smartphone addicts was able to catch up on our emails and social media while we waited for our food. Honestly, I can't understand all the low Yelp ratings this restaurant has because we got good service and good food. We sampled a lot of each other's food like we often do so I got to try a few different things. Most of the group got a lobster roll or fried haddock sandwich. I got the lobster roll which I found delightful, the lobster was plentiful and delicious though my pickle spear did look a little anemic. The fried haddock sandwich was really good. I tried my wife's clam chowder which we both agreed was okay but nothing special, a little watery. The crab cakes were very nice with the accompanying remoulade, the plate presentation was outstanding with spinach, lemon and blueberry garnishes. My sister got the BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato) sandwich. I didn't try it but she loved it. Overall I would say the food rates a 3.5 stars but I'm happy to round it up to four stars considering we surprised them with such a large group and they responded fabulously with good food and great service. Don't let the low Yelp reviews scare you away, you will have a pleasant dining experience at Lighthouse Inn & Restaurant. read more

We happened upon this place & we're so glad we did! What a gem! We were finishing up a day at Bar Harbor & Acadia N.P. We pressed the fork & knife button on the rental car GPS and it brought up this restaurant. We were hungry and it was the closest. So we headed in that direction. When we arrived it was a little earlier than their 430pm posted open time, so we walked down to Seal Harbor beach for a bit. It was within walking distance. Our server was delightful, very sweet and attentive, refilling our water glasses multiple times. We ordered the seafood chowder and stuffed mushrooms as appetizers. They were a little slow coming out, but both were delicious! The amount of seafood in the broth was like nothing I'd ever seen before! I ordered the shrimp and scallop Juliet and my boyfriend ordered the broiled halibut. His came with asparagus and potatoes (at his request). I had a side salad included with my pasta dish. I wish I had taken photos of the entrees! The portions were fantastic! My dish had amazing flavor and was packed with so much seafood and vegetables that you could barely see the pasta! We ate here several years ago and remember it as being fine, but today was a disappointment. We got here about 11:45 a.m. and the place was less than half full. The waitress brought our drinks and took our order fairly quickly, but then we waited something like 35 minutes for the food! And all we'd ordered was seafood chowder, lobster stew and salad! The chowder and salads were fine, but the lobster stew was barely lukewarm. I was far too hungry to consider sending it back, though. A breadbasket would have been welcome, but wasn't offered. And on top of all that, the front door kept getting left open, and a very cold, damp draft was blowing through it. We kept closing it but I would think the staff could have taken care of this.
