My second time dealing with Jorge. I am a mechanical engineer who owns a fairly old diesel powered pick up truck. Unfortunately, the Engine had a problem with fuel contamination. (my own mistake) This caused the engine to stop after makIng an absolutely huge cloud of smoke. About half of a year ago, I had Jorge replace all the injectors. It was running so, so well, damm it! I expected that I had succeeded in destroying the engine, which given in the age of the truck, would have meant it's end. Still, I had it towed over to Alonzo services in the hope of rescuing it. There, I explained to Jorge what I had done to cause this damage. And now the magic begins! Jorge examined the fuel injectiion system, and isolated 1 injector which had been killed by the fuel contamination problem. Rather than replacing all the injectors in the system, as most mechanics would have done, he was able to rescue the remaining components at a great savings to myself. Whereas most mechanics that I have met over the years are merely "parts changers", Jorge went the extra mile and gave this situation a lot of thought. He replaced only what was truly necessary and rehabilitated the rest of the parts in the system. This was absolute mastery, I am so grateful ! read more

I do not like to leave negative reviews, but I hope this can help someone save some $ in the future. The short of this review is that Jorge's team misrepresented the brake pad life I had remaining to try to get me to commit to having them replaced for what would have came out to $840 (Front brake pads, 2 Rotors, and a brake fluid flush). To include the back brakes & rotors I was looking at $1.4K+ They stated I had 10% brake life left on the front brakes and 20% on the back and stressed the importance of getting them replaced right away. I was stressing as I had a long road trip ahead of me with my family so this tugged at the heart strings a bit. After a couple conversations with my father who has worked as an auto parts salesman I decided I was going to push through with the trip as he could get me a better price from one of his contacts. I didn't hold the price against Jorge and his team as in this world it helps to know somebody to get a better deal, business is business. However what I do hold against his team is that after dropping my car off with the 2nd opinion mechanic, he quickly called me confused about 10 mins later asking "Why are you wanting new brakes?" Also confused I shared with him the news about the brake pad life and he proceeded to share with me that I had over 50% of my brake pad life left on all four tires. Additionally he said he wouldn't even suggest the fluid flush as this has been known to cause ABS issues with vehicles historically... The piece about the fluid flush is subjective as admitted by this mechanic, but I couldn't understand why a friend of my fathers, who had easy business in front of him would not just take the opportunity unless I actually had much of my brake pad life remaining and he was looking out for my best interests. Thankfully I lucked out on saving $1.4K+, but unfortunately I lost what I though was a local trusted mechanic. I called this morning to share this feedback with Jorges team and had somewhat hoped for a call back with some effort of sincerity. That never happened so I've decided to leave this review. I highly recommend getting a second opinion after my experience, or even requesting that they physically show you the life of your brake pad. Good mechanics are tough to find... I so wanted this to be a positive review, esp after my poor encounter w North County Auto Service. But sadly, Im realizing just how hard it is to find a good, trustworthy mechanic. What impressed me about this place was the smooth talker that answers the phone for them - Sam. He (originally) made me feel like I was in good hands. But that quickly changed, once he had my car & knew I was going with them for the repairs. They started taking forever just to diagnose the car. When I 1st called him that Wednesday. He tried to talk me into bringing it in real quick, so he could accurately diagnose it. On paper it shows the test as taking 30 mins to diagnose. So I asked if he could perform that test faster than 2 days, he was trying to do it in. Since he orginally said he could do it real quick. Thats when he proceeded to give me a bunch of attitude, while saying he didn't like mine. Normal for ppl to get defensive when someones being rude. He spoke down to me. Tried to act like it was too difficult for me to switch mechanics at this point- which it wasn't. But this know it all knows EVERYTHING. He proceeded to try & sell me more bullsh*t. Blaming it on the company that was paying for the repairs, for it taking so long. Even though they authorized the charges the day before. Said hes doing me a favor bec he had a sister in my situation. So he felt the need to help me blah blah blah 1st off- he doesnt know my situation. But it's funny that he assumes, then thinks he's doing me a favor. How? I'm still paying full price LMFAO So id still really like to know what favor I got. All I got was a HUGE pain in the ass. Because they overcharged for everything- 2/3 yr warranties on EVERYTHING they install. Weird, never asked for any warranties, nor did anyone ask me. Sam took advantage of the fact I was using a company to help me with the repair costs & he exploited that. While treating me the WHOLE time like I wasnt a paying customer. They had no care in the world for the amount of probs they were causing taking SO long to repair the vehicle. I lost 2 jobs I was supposed to start, in 1 wk. Couldnt go to my mothers grave on the anniversary of her passing. Had to pay $60 for an uber to the ER. The list goes on. Said they would have it done in a day. But It took them 9 days to repair 3 things that only take an hr to 3 hrs, each (New radiator, new battery, oil change, and new thermostat). Part of them not having any respect for you, your schedule or life. Sure glad I got that favor! All ive been doing is wishing I took it ANYWHERE else. Take their behavior/responses to reviews as a red flag/warning sign. Their dishonest, a**holes who pretend to be good people. Wonder what will be wrong with my car now, that it didnt have when it went in? And for thinking I was in a domestic violence shelter, the manager sure had NO problem raising his voice at me on the phone. And being completely disrespectful- Will I be bringing this car or any others, back for future repairs? -HELL NO. read more

They gave me a copy of the report which included photos and details of every issue.Very honest shop as Jorge recommended not to work on the car as the cost would be more than the cars value. I took my vehicle to get my air conditioning fixed, and he went beyond replacing the freon to testing my fuses. He found the solution with a loose fuse. Price of service was high, but he was thorough and explained the problem to me with follow up advice. A good friend of mine referred me to Jorge Alonso Auto Repair so I took my Chevrolet Camaro there for an oil change and tire rotation and was so impressed with Marlene at the front desk who gave me the details that I would be getting text messages and emails on each step of the car repair process. I dont think that any other car repair shops do this. I also received an in depth PDF report on the repairs made and other important observations about the care - including a non-urgent oil leak and a chip in the windshield that I had no idea about! The report included pictures and video as well. That was awesome. I also liked the option of having a free rental car for a day so that I didnt have to get a ride or call a rideshare. Went in for a repair. Radiator was leaking. Was quoted over $1,300. Yup didn't want to get overcharged 4 times over so left. I'm sure they do good work but prices are outrageous. The actual radiator itself elsewhere cost $60 and install was $200. On Jorge Alonso estimate same $60 part $220. Come on with the crazy mark ups on the parts. And just telling everyone who is shocked by the high prices welcome to bmw, welcome to Audi, welcome to Lexus repair costs. Don't mark parts up 4x over and the prices will be more reasonable and people will get the work done read more

MAJOR RIP OFF! They over charge and don't do the job right. One of the jobs I got done was just replacing the wire harness for the headlight. I even brought in the harness myself and he charged me $200 for labor. Once the job was complete he failed to tell me I needed to replace the harness on the other side. I ended up going to Ye Olde Car Shop in Vista for the other side and he quoted me $50. Plus on top of that after picking up my car at Jorge's, one of his mechanics stole out of my car! read more
