Came with my mama. Love it here. Service is good, food is good and it's easy to sit and visit for a while without ever feeling rushed. My Texas tummy enjoys stopping here and if I lived in Kansas, Jose Peppers would be my TexMex stop.

Not too busy for a Thursday late afternoon, and service was fine, our waiter was okay; not awful but not stellar either--which is acceptable. The chips and salsa were probably the best I've had--nice and toasty salty chips and salsa that didn't have a boat load of cilantro flavor. The corona shrimp taco was outstanding! Crammed full of huge crispy shrimp and packed with delicious flavor. The refried beans were good at first but their unusual smoky flavor was off-putting. Ended up not finishing those. Overall the experience was maybe slightly above average, but with the weird beans, it made for an okay mealtime experience. Will I go back? Probably, as none of the aforementioned things were complete deal breakers.

If you decide to go during or around dinner time try and get there early, this location had a large line. The waiter we got was amazing, checked on us constantly and made sure we didn't need anything. Food is good for MexiAmerican food. If you have ever been to a Jose Peppers they are at least mostly consistent with flavor. If you want authentic Mexican food there are many better places in the area.

Haven't been here in a really long time, the fajitas are as delicious as ever. My only complaint is that there's always only one slice of red pepper, lol. I prefer corn tortillas, and they're happy to accommodate me as opposed to giving me the flour tortillas. The espinca is the perfect accompaniment to any meal. The restaurant is pretty clean, with lots of seating, and a nice patio.

Always good deals, can usually find a coupon for free espinaca. Dog friendly patio. The nachos are a fan favorite and I always love the fajitas.

Updating my review, as since becoming a mom with a baby, I look for different things in restaurants now. I ran in on a semi busy Thursday night, around 5:30. I asked the girl if they had any tables that we could fit a stroller by that wouldn't be in anyone's way. She was super sweet and understanding, and took us to a perfect table. Our server was nice and efficient. Service was a tad slow, but that's ok, they were busy. Idk why, but the chili con queso was especially good this night. Like exceptional lol Drinks were delicious, and food was good.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in KC area. Today I ordered Espinaca con queso and the lunch pollo magnifico. It was served piping hot and delicious. My waiter was spot on, service was great.

We had the best surprise experience here (other than an obnoxious conspiracy theorist standing down the bar and spewing his tinfoil hat talking points at a volume that force everyone to hear). Staying at the Hampton across the parking lot, Jose Peppers was highly recommended, and that recommendation was correct. We intended to go for a margarita and some chips & salsa. We ended up with the mini chimis and the stuffed jalapeños - both of which were surprisingly great. Living in Texas sometimes creates an arrogance about Mexican food - that no one else can do it right (like the state owns the rights to all Mexican restaurants). Who, then, would expect amazing Mexican in Kansas? Well, here it is. The staff was super-friendly, the sangria perfect, and the overall experience capped off a long day perfectly.

This was a first experience for Noah. It didn't disappoint, however we were a little disappointed. The ambience was quite was the vibe. The food was "mid as hell", but the service was very good. Our server, Ryan, was very attentive and catered to our needs. Overall a pretty good but forgettable visit.

Great service, and great food. Our waiter Drew is #1, He's the best waiter here! The crab and Shrimp enchiladas are the bomb. Sooooo good. It was a delicacy. They gave us plenty of chips and salsa to go. We will make this a regular out to eat local from now on!

    Carry-out LUNCH SPECIAL...Monterey Chicken Burrito $5.99
    Susan F.

Carry-out for the win! When in quarantine and craving delicious Mexican food, Jose Pepper's has you covered! The restaurant has done a great job accommodating the Stay Home order and made food pickup super convenient. They have set up an area out front with clear number labels, and an attendant that quickly comes to your car to confirm order and hand off food. Today we ordered up the special of the day, Monterey Chicken Burritos for a lunch price of $5.99. Did I mention chips, salsa AND free cup of cheese queso is included?!? Same great taste at same great price, a sure crowd pleaser!

It was a good midnight snack. I got the Barbacoa taco and shrimp taco. Both had tons of flavor, and two was plenty for dinner. The margaritas were excellent! Since you order at the counter, we didn't have a ton of experience with the staff, but everyone seemed friendly and the shop is well maintained We did eat inside, and there were definitely people outside, taking advantage of the patio

It gave an option for dining with a group of people or simply dining alone. We arrived around 1pm on a week day, so just after the lunch rush which was perfect. The food was made fresh, I've always wanted to try the barria taco but no one seems to offer anything but a beef option. And finally, I found a chicken one. It was Delish !! Now I couldn't dip in the au just because it was beef but I appreciate having the option. The Mexican rice was light and flavorful. The queso was good however it stiffened up pretty quickly, just in case you feel the anxiety of choosing between. Your appetizer and the main costs course. Over all, a great experience for a late afternoon lunch. Check out it when your craving tacos, I don't think you'll be disappointment.

Walking in you'll find it's a very bright, cheerful atmosphere, very clean, with about ten tables (I think), and two tv's playing Spanish music. The people are nice and very efficient. Chef Joseph is phenomenal. He was manning the register when I went in. I'd never been to a Mexican & Salvadoran restaurant before. I'm familiar with Mexican American food, a little bit with truly authentic Mexican, and not at all with Salvadoran. Chef Joseph came out from behind the counter and sat at my table explaining the menu to me, the dishes, the flavor profiles. He gave suggestions on what order based on what I told him I liked. I got one of the combo dishes mainly because it offered a variety of proteins and side dishes. I also saw several more items in the menu that I knew I wanted to try on my next visit. The food was delicious! I surprised myself by finishing the whole plate. I was also delighted to find La Cocina De Mary had atole. It's a traditional cold weather drink made with masa harina, milk, and spices. My tia made it when I was a kid, so there's fond memories. This one was better ... and lucky for me tia isn't on Yelp and will never read this. They have soft drinks and a few alcohol drinks that I may try next time. The one that's a bloody mary except with beer instead of vodka sounded interesting. Next time I go, I'm taking FPO with me. This is a great little place and I hope they're there for a long time to come.
