Sombreros Mexican has become one of our family's go-to restaurants and one of our absolute favorites. We eat here regularly, and it consistently delivers great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Our boys almost always order the Sombreros Burrito, my wife rotates between the street tacos and fajitas, and my personal favorite is the chicken fajitas--always hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. They also have a solid drink menu, although you'll usually need to ask for it. The chips and salsa are a must, but here's a pro tip: the regular red salsa can be a little bland on its own. Ask for the hot green salsa, mix in a spoonful or two with the red salsa (and add a little salt if you'd like), and it completely transforms it. Service is generally outstanding. Like any restaurant, there are occasional ups and downs, but in all the years we've been coming here, I can't remember encountering a single unfriendly staff member. One thing that consistently impresses me is how incredibly fast the food comes out, even when they're busy. The owner is also a tremendous supporter of local youth sports, especially baseball, which is something our family appreciates. Because of that support, don't be surprised if you see big crowds during tournament weekends. My only disappointment is that they eliminated their rewards program when they switched POS systems--that was a great perk for loyal customers. Pretty busy place. If you are a white person, this is your place. If you are Mexican or looking for authentic Mexican food, this is not your place. Food lacks Mexican seasoning. More like salt. Ground beef is about the same level as a Taco Bell. If you need a mild introduction to Mexican food, this is a safe place. We stopped in today for lunch for the first time. We were seated quickly and a server came up quickly also. The chips and salsa were good and my husband had their $5 Sangria special. The Sangria was very tasty and a good price. My husband had the lunch special of two cheese and onion enchiladas with a choice of beans and rice. I had their starter of chicken flautas for a meal and it came with a small ball of sour cream and guacamole. My husband was very pleased with his meal. The chicken in my flautas was tender but unfortunately flavorless. The restaurant was clean as well as the bathrooms. The biggest negative to me was when I asked for an extra guacamole, which was a small ball like the one on plate (tablespoon size), on the bill they charged $3.00. That price was outrageous for the AMOUNT given. Literally $3 for a tablespoon of guacamole. I spoke to the waitress about it and she said she didn't make the prices and I said that I understood but I would like my comment delivered to the manager as I felt the price was excessive for the amount. So my husband saw a young man and asked him if he was the manager and he said he wasn't but had worked there for many years. So we just told him that the fee was shocking for the amount and it would be nice if they mentioned it upon ordering. I expect a $1.00 or $1.50 but not $3 for a tiny amount. I went with a group of 4 for lunch. There was plenty of seating and our server was great. The wait was extremely short between ordering and getting our food. I ordered a barbacoa and asada taco. These tacos were just ok. The barbacoa was very watery. This is a typical tex mex place. It reminds me of On the Border. Thought I would try this place since I have never been. It wasn't busy when I went. The chips and salsa are good and we got the white queso which is also good. I tried the chicken cream cheese enchiladas and then got a side of rice with it. The enchiladas were good. I had to wait a bit for the side of rice as it didn't come out with my enchiladas. The food runner seemed like he was going to get it but never did so I had to ask the server. The rice was alright. We ordered online and were very disappointed. The food was bland. I had the shrimp and steak fajitas and my wife had the Sombrero Burrito. They didn't get our order correct. I didn't check to make sure everything was there and correct until I arrived home. We paid extra to have the burrito covered in cheese sauce which they didn't do. There was also supposed to be a serving of rice and beans with the burrito which was not sent with the order. The fajitas were bland and tasteless. The salsa included was a very small servingnand wasn't worth the effort to include it with the order. On the plus side, the food portions were very generous and the pickup service/server was very polite and prompt getting the food to us. Don't think I will be back since I feel ripped off. This place really surprised me! It is definitely more Tex mex. However, the puffy tacos were really, really good, even though they weren't totally crispy like a traditional puffy taco. The meat portions are huge. The fajitas were great as well, and we love how many peppers were in them, as supposed to mostly all onions like other local places. Each time our service has been friendly and fast. The margaritas are really different. Hard to explain. They almost seem to lack lime? I can't put my finger on it. Not sure I like them. So miss on that. I think this place is great for what it is. A consistently good option that is close to our neighborhood. We have been a patron of Sombrero's for 3+ years since we moved to this area. During COVID, we went out of our way to support the restaurant because we liked the food and didn't want to the restaurant to fail. Over the past year, we have notice that, though the food has been good, the dishes have come out cold. Tonight again, the food was cold, so we talked to the owner and told him of our concerns about cold food. We refused to be comped to ensure our concerns were genuine. The owner ignored our feedback about cold food by talking to the table next to us for 20 minutes, never going to the kitchen. Even as we left the restaurant, the owner had not gone the to kitchen to fix the issue of cold food.
