I am actually a dentist myself, but I went to see Dr. Joe Passamano after I had a freak accident. While changing a lightbulb on the ceiling, the cover fell right on my face and broke my front tooth. Dr. Passamano was able to conservatively repair the fractured tooth and matched the color excellently. Thought I'd share my experience. Before coming to Dr. Passamano, my teeth were stained yellow. The stains were apparent for almost a decade and I had become very insecure with my smile. As well as this, my old dentist refused to give me whitening treatments. I decided after a two year break from the dentist to go to Dr. Passamano's office and it was a wonderful experience. I was incredibly anxious due to past dentist experiences. The office is clean and welcoming, which is a perfect environment for anxious patients-no dirty materials or run down machines. The hygenist and Dr. Passamano would explain to me in detail everything that was happening (even though I never even told them I was an anxious patient!). The hygenist gave me the most thorough cleaning I've ever had, which heavily improved the health of my gums and appearance of my teeth. Then, they told me that my stains were due to leftover cement my past dentist had left on my teeth for over a decade! At my next appointment, they scraped off the cement, leaving my teeth looking the best I've ever seen in my life. Dr. Passamano not only cares about the health of your teeth but also aesthetics that can improve your overall confidence in your smile. It is really amazing to smile again and I truly can see the importance of going to a good dentist. I can't recommend them enough. The BEST dental care, period. SERIOUSLY. I hadn't been to the dentist for 7 years when I went to see Dr. Passamano for a broken tooth (literally months after breaking it, I'm so terrified of dentists). Dr. Passamano got me into the office quickly, took x-rays of the affected tooth, and made a clear plan to fix it. Despite my need for other dental work, he made me one appointment to fix the broken tooth and address a few adjacent teeth on the same side (since I was already numbed there). He gave me some calming medication to make the visit go more smoothly, and it was AMAZING. I remember very little of the appointment and am shocked that this trip to the dentist was so entirely uneventful. He even called me later that evening to check in on me! Dr. Joe saved me one 4th of July a few years ago. How? Well. I was eating out with a ton of friends and I cracked my crown off..I legit freaked out. I thought I was going to die. I felt myself starting to panic. Why? Because I HATE(D) the dentist. Soooooo much. So when a guy at the table, who I didn't even know, said "I know a guy!" I was hesitant, but he said I could text the dentist, which I thought was odd, but also cool, I went for it. Suprisingly, on 4th of july, he answered my call, himself. All the forms are digital and SUPER EASY to complete. Nothing to do upon arrival. Upon arriving, they followed all the COVID protocols which makes me feel super safe. I've been going to My Dentist Joe for my regular cleanings for years now. Every time, I'm thankful for the clean bill of health and quick no nonsense service. This most recent routine cleaning though was a mixed bag and I don't think I'll be returning. I first make an appointment and subsequently get several text messages about a $50 cancellation and no show fee. Then another text message about a separate $250 fee if I fail to advise them of a change of insurance or contact info in advance of the appointment. Not a big deal, but a bit odd. I end up sending them my unchanged insurance info about a week in advance. I show up to my appointment and they are wonderful as always, with an excellent implementation of COVID mitigation measures. The cleaning was routine as always, done by friendly and professional staff who ultimately gave me a clean bill of health. However, what did threw me off was the nudges for upselling and unnecessary work, in my opinion. The staff asked if I ever thought about getting braces to correct my one slightly misaligned tooth. They then asked if I thought about removing my wisdom teeth, all of which grew in straight and proper. I subtly reminded them that they highlighted the same findings every past cleaning and they advised the work was overkill each time. However, this time the staff seemed to be a bit pushy to get the work done. I'm not sure why the atmosphere changed, but I brush it off and carried on. What makes me say that I'll probably won't return is when I was just about to leave. The receptionist said my cleaning was covered 100% by insurance, except for the $15 PPE fee. I requested they bill my insurance and if the claim is denied, to bill me directly and I'll gladly pay for it after the dust settles. The receptionist responds they can't do that and my insurance does not cover PPE fees, matter of factly. It's just $15, so I pay it and go on my way. However, in an exercise of trust-but-verify, I call my insurance to ask about PPE fees...their response: in-network providers are not allowed to charge members PPE fees as insurance already subsidizes that cost to providers in advance. I call up the Dr.'s office to advise them of such and request a refund of the $15, to which they said they'll need time to review and respond. I follow up about 3 days later and they agreed to refund the $15 back to my credit card. Pretty fast and efficient, but could have been avoided in the first place. In all, MyDentistJoe is a very talented and capable team for all your dental needs. However, my latest visit made it feel as if I was flying on Ryanair or Spirit Airlines. If you recently paid a PPE fee, I recommend you follow up with your insurance provider about coverage and (if applicable) reach out to the folks at MyDentistJoe for a refund. read more

I had been experiencing some tooth pain for a day or so and a swollen face. I decided to call this office since it was so close to my office. Usually they take the last patient at 4, but were willing to wait until 4:45 since I was in a mandatory training. I arrived a little before 4:45 and filled out all the necessary paperwork. The office itself is very new and clean. I had an X-ray done on my molar turns out an old root canal got infected so the tooth is abscessed. Dr. Passamano was great! He went over all my options and said it would be best to just pull it. He also suggested I have my wisdom teeth removed. I got a referral to an oral surgeon and some meds for my infection. I generally fear going to the dentist, but Dr. Passamano made me feel extremely comfortable. He was friendly, warm, and really knowledgable. I will definitely be back for a check up. read more

After seeing three different dentists within a few weeks and still experiencing severe pain after their "fixes", I made an appointment with Dr. Passamano. He squeezed me in that day due to the amount of pain I was experiencing even though I was a new patient. He had a great bedside manner, was thorough when finding the source of pain, informative about the diagnosis (in laymens terms thank god) and honest about my options. I felt incredibly cared for and his laid back personality put my usual "going to the dentist anxiety" at ease. I ended up getting a root canal (the tooth was dead and infected) and immediately started feeling better. I'm amazed that THREE dentists did not catch this nor take the time to find the true source of my pain. I won't call out these "professionals" as that is not my style but I will say that Dr. Joe is the BEST! I would highly recommend him! A few other things: his office is in a cute little stand alone building off Sand Canyon & the 5 (behind Knowlwood & Denny's). He just moved into the space so everything is new and nice and modern. His staff is also very friendly, making you feel welcome. He takes most HMO's but call ahead as they seem willing to work out a plan with you if you don't have insurance. Dr. Joe is a great dentist! I first came in 2 years ago for a wisdom tooth that felt like hell on earth. I first felt the pain during the weekend but he spoke to me over the phone and was probably the most understanding and informative dentist that answered, on a Saturday morning mind you. I think back then the office forwarded to his cell or something during the weekend? He assured me I would survive until Monday even though I felt like I was dying. All the other dentists I called that Saturday morning pretty much gave me the "WTF are you calling me on a Saturday morning for" attitude (which is understandable) or just didn't pick up their phone. Dr. Joe already got points and I hadn't even walked into his office yet. He saw me the first opening he had on Monday. I was in and out of his office in 45 minutes. Paperwork, X-ray, extraction, payment, everything. Best part was it didn't even feel like I got a tooth pulled. I felt great and left for a road trip the next day! Fast forward 2 years, I finally land a job post college with dental insurance, and lucky me Dr. Joe is in my coverage. Scheduled a cleaning and he still remembers me from 2 years ago. Most comfortable cleaning I've ever had in my life. Still had one more wisdom tooth left in my mouth and we schedule getting that taken out.
