On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, I noticed that my hot water was only warm. I called a plumber I'd used before, and the earliest they could come out was the following Monday. It was already after 4 p.m. when I called Joseph Rose Plumbing. Someone answered the phone right away--it was Ethan, the business owner. At first he said he could come on Friday (much better than Monday), but then he said he could come that same night. He texted when he was on the way over. My water heater is between 12 and 13 years old, and had not had any parts replaced. Ethan suggested replacing both elements and both thermostats and gave me a quote. Doing anything inside a water heater is a big deal, we didn't know whether the problem was with the elements or the thermostats, and the new parts would last until the water heater itself failed (leaked), so I said to go ahead. Ethan had to go buy one of the parts needed, so he left to do that and returned when he had the part. He replaced the elements and thermostats, and showed me the old elements he removed, which looked to be in pretty bad shape. Everything is working again, and I had hot water again that night. (I canceled the appointment I'd made with the other company for Monday.) Ethan checked some other things while he was there: my water pressure is good, but my expansion tank was full of water (bad). I'm going to have him come back to replace that. Ethan is working hard to make customers happy and get the word out about his business. He is reachable 24 hours a day Monday through Saturday, which is amazing for a small company. I am very happy to recommend him. read more

Contacted Joseph Rose Plumbing on a Sunday, and our problem was promptly fixed on Monday !!! This was a dream service ! When I sent an inquiry about available plumbing services through Yelp, we were contacted by 5 different companies, one even from Raleigh (we are in Durham). Joseph Rose Plumbing was our choice because of willingness to take care of our need quickly. We didn't want to wait, because we were without water in the kitchen for about 48 hrs. I communicated with 3 other places either by e-mail or by phone and despite the fact I explained it was a small simple job of replacing a pull down hose in our Kohler kitchen faucet, and we already had the original replacement part, those other places wanted to send their representative first, to "evaluate" the situation, THEN they would schedule the repair (after unknown number of days). Ethan, the young owner of Joseph Rose Plumbing was the only one who simply wanted to DO it. He scheduled our appointment for Monday morning, showed up in person and skillfully fixed the problem (it wasn't a piece of cake). We strongly recommend this business. Ethan is professional, respectful and knowledgeable, and has a very optimistic, calming demeanor. It was a pleasure to interact with him. I also want to compliment Joseph Rose web site, which is well designed, and has youthful vibe to me. The website itself contributed to our making the choice of this business after I visited it. Two weeks ago I had a great experience with Ethan of Joseph Rose Plumbing. I contacted the company after an unfortunate NO SHOW of another company. ( I was only contacting businesses listed with Durham addresses "assuming" a quicker response). I quickly realized I should have called Joseph Rose Plumbing FIRST! Ethan contacted me not long after I reached out, and had an appointment for me the next day! I received a text confirming he was on the way, and he was prompt for the appointment to repair my toilet that ran continuously. Ethan checked my pipes, confirmed the location of my whole house water shut off valve, and got to work on installing and replacing the parts to stop the issue. He even cleaned the inside of my tank, took time to explain what he was doing, why, and guided me on how to determine if I had other leaks happening by monitoring the water meter. Ethan was also helpful in checking for other issues I was concerned about, and I will definitely contact him for further repairs. I would say the pricing was fair at the time of this visit. I have had Ethan (owner of company) out twice in the past 8 months. Both times were for leaks in old pipes and each occurred on the weekend. He is very quick to respond--only a few minutes, and immediately scheduled us for a same day appointment and was here in a few hours. The leak in my pipe in the yard was a very complex job. He was very thorough and identified the source of the leak through the use of underground camera. The replacement of the broken section of pipe was also intensive, requiring two men hand digging down to the pipe, so as not to cut any utility lines. The second repair were leaks in my ceiling, and toilet. He not only does the repair, but looks around to see if there are other pipes which may also soon spring a leak through signs of wear. In addition to being very knowledgeable and able to fix any plumbing problem, he is available 24/7 it seems. He never even takes a break while he is working. In addition, he is throughly likable and a great communicator. Once you call him, you will never use another plumber. In this case, the all 5 star Yelp reviews are totally on target. read more

Called with no pressure from new water heater. Ethan arrived same day and in LESS THAN AN HOUR had identified and repaired an obscure issue with an errant check valve, rebuilt a cartridge for an old lav faucet (we have 6# 42-year Delta faucets in the home, and the 2 I've rebuilt took at least an hour), fixed a leaking T&P fitting on the heater and created the invoice - absolutely AMAZING! And it gets better... he did ALL that for less than $225 including the service call. But wait, he wasn't only efficient and effective... he had STELLAR people skills.
