    Steak Diane. Absolutely delicious!!

We had a party of 6 and everyone LOVED their meals (tortellini, trout, pepper steak, beef bourguignon, lobster bisque and steak Diane). I didn't get a pic of everyone's meal, only mine. But it was absolutely delicious! Joseph's never disappoints!

We made our reservation for Joseph's very last minute. We were definitely not prepared and were very limited with choices due to Covid limitations at all of the restaurants in the area. I was trying to find something a bit more casual because I was traveling with kids and we had just spent the day out hiking. I'm very happy to say we were all very happy with our decision to eat here. Although we showed up at 8:15 pm, with 3 kids and none of us looking our best we were warmly greeted. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and they have partitions set up between all of the tables. All of the guests have their own little private areas. Service was excellent and attentive. Food was fresh and delicious. Dessert was yummy. Although the name suggests otherwise, this is not an overly fancy restaurant and I'm very glad we went. We will definitely return when we're in the area again (and return better dressed).

If you live in Colorado Springs or you're visiting and looking for a perfect dining out, then you must go to this restaurant! It's definitely the best service, food and ambiance I've experienced since relocating here five years ago! Joseph, the owner came to say hello and to tell us that the swordfish was the special, delicious and flown in today. (We went on 3/23/2023). I asked him if he was the owner and he said yes. His brother, (I don't remember his name) served us. Impeccable grace, and service. I asked if he was his brother, because he kind of looked like Joseph and he said yes. He was thoroughly experienced and knowledgeable of the menu, which is quite extensive and unusual. It definitely has an Italian flare. Entrées prices were reasonable but I think the appetizer are an expensive side ($20+), but the quality is probably outstanding and would justify the price. I forgot to take a picture of the menu. Because we had gone to "Lumin8" first for drinks and appetizers, we didn't have appetizers at Joseph's. I have one of the best martinis I've had since I've been in Colorado Springs. The absolute best martini I have had so far is at McKenzie's Chophouse. this is definitely the next best if not equal, my date had the old fashion both were poured stronger than most places and very tasty. I don't know what the prices on the alcohol were but I remember they were in the same range is everybody else about $14. Those are the specialty drinks. I don't know what my martini cost but I got Hendrix gin, so probably about the same price. We were served fresh homemade rolls, or very good quality if not, homemade with whipped butter, and they were outstanding. He got the swordfish and it was outstanding. I got the surf and turf, which is ribeye and grilled shrimp. mine came with bacon, wrapped asparagus. It was amazing and grilled potatoes. He had grilled potatoes and vegetables with his. My steak was so delicious. I don't even know what vegetables he had. I was too busy enjoying every single bite of my entrée. I tried his swordfish and it was really good as well. This was definitely the best steak I've had since I've been in Colorado Springs, and I've been to MANY of the "high-end"restaurants. My steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly! The ambiance is romantic. The decorations are a bit outdated but charming, and work with the style of the restaurant. Instead of dessert, we had cocktail drinks. I had a brandy and he had Drambuie. Our bill was at $240! I would definitely go back for the entrées and skip the cocktails. probably I probably would have one glass of red wine with my steak if I got the same thing again. Which I would because it's that good. Although there's many other dishes, I would like to try. They have unique things on the menu, which is really a nice change from other restaurants. I think the prices were on the cocktails were a bit high. But no complaints on this "fine dining" delicious restaurant!

I have to admit that the ambience is really cool; you walk down into a basement to enter the restaurant, which used to be the city morgue, and while that's a little bit creepy, it gives the space a dark, velvety vibe that I think some people would really like. However, for a higher-end establishment, I found the service to be kind of spotty and not quite up to par. My biggest disappointment was the food, as we ordered two entrées to share and found both to be rather disappointing and honestly kind of bad, which was especially frustrating given how expensive they were. While it might have just been the specific dishes we chose, the combination of high prices, underwhelming food, and inconsistent service means I likely won't be back, even if the unique atmosphere was interesting to see once.

We sat down and waited at least 15 mins before a server acknowledged our presence. Then another few mins until he took our mimosa orders, then another 10 or more until they arrived. Waaaayyy too long for initial drinks at ANY restaurant! We ordered food as soon as our drinks hit the table (~30 mins after being seated), and enjoyed out drinks for quite some time until realizing it was AFTER 12pm and no sight of our food or waiter and the place was about half empty at that point. A manager finally came by to apologize for the delay, but didn't offer to comp our drinks or food or anything! Another 10mins or so later and we finally got our food. The Smoked Salmon Benedict was very very smoky flavored and I even ordered the salmon separate by from the actual benedict part of the dish as a precaution, but the smoke flavor overtook the entire dish. For $19, it had no hash browns included, and I wasn't paying $6 more for fried potato strings. My daughter had the grilled cheese with tomato soup and both were absolutely phenomenal! The pumpkin bread French toast was just pumpkin bread with whipped cream and caramel drizzle, not real French toast with pumpkin spun into it. Not impressive. Overall, the staff was very nice and the dining areas super cute, but the prices and wait time and lack of management correction make this a place I likely won't be trying again anytime soon.

The mountain view outside the windows was gorgeous. Based on the ambiance inside the restaurant, it looked like a more upscale restaurant, which is why I can understand the dress code, but the vibe seemed quite casual. And I was surprised at how kid-friendly it was! There were multiple people there with little children. Our waiter was nice and attentive. For appetizers, we ordered the Trout Rillettes and baby gem salad. The trout was very creamy and the salad was underwhelming for $16... it may look big in the photo because of the angle but it was small and it reminded me more of a wedge salad. For dinner, I had the Seared Salmon with crab fried rice, it was underwhelming for the price, and my husband had the Seared Red Snapper and said it was "too fishy". He didn't finish it. The kids entree, chicken tenders and fries, was a very generous portion and of course, she loved it. Overall, view was amazing, service was good, food was underwhelming for the price.

When we arrived, there were multiple open tables right by the windows. I politely asked if we could sit at one of them, and the hostess immediately shut it down, saying those tables were assigned to certain servers. That may be how things work internally, but as a guest, it should not feel like you are being denied something that is clearly available, especially when you made the effort to request it ahead of time. What stood out even more than the refusal was the attitude. There was no warmth, no attempt to accommodate, and no sense of hospitality just a cold, dismissive interaction. First impressions matter, and this one set the tone for the entire experience. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for it. My country fried steak was dry and lacked any crispness, like it had been sitting out for a while instead of being freshly prepared. The potatoes had the same issue dry, stale, and not worth the price. Nothing tasted fresh. I will say our server was kind and tried to do a good job, and the view is undeniably beautiful. But a great location cannot carry an experience when the basics hospitality and food quality fall short. At the end of the day, this is not just about one table or one dish. It is about how guests are made to feel. People spend their time and money here expecting a welcoming experience, especially when celebrating moments or simply wanting to enjoy the setting. Being met with indifference and attitude instead of basic courtesy is disappointing. Think twice before booking here. A beautiful view means very little when the hospitality is poor and the food feels neglected. I hope management takes a serious look at how guests are treated from the moment they walk in and asks themselves a simple question: if you were the customer, would this experience feel acceptable?
