Joseph's had seating when all other restaurants had a wait of at least 45 minutes on a Saturday night after skiing. Our hosts had eaten here several times before and knew what to expect but we were not certain. Overall the meals were good and everyone left happy. Our server Laura was very good and offered good advice when asked. Since I am gluten free, the selections at the SPAGHETTI Shed were understandably limited, but there were some reasonable offerings. My Italian Chicken was good with tasty marinara sauce and lots of melted cheese. My wife's chicken and broccoli had very little chicken. Yet the Caesar salad with chicken had a lot. The kids all liked the spaghetti and meatballs. My expectations were met but not exceeded at Joseph's. A good Italian spot when you have that urge. read more

After owning a place in North Conway for seven years we thought we would give this restaurant a try. Ordered eggplant parm and it was awful. Three pieces of eggplant with so much breading you couldn't find the eggplant. I had spaghetti with meatballs and sausage. Both the sausage and meatballs had zero taste and dry. Service was good. We came here after doing the North Pole Train in North Conway. We drove past it a few times over the weekend, so we decided to try it out after seeing how crowded all the places in North Conway looked. This is a perfect place to go with kids! The people working there were so friendly and warm. We all enjoyed our spaghetti but what I liked the best was the garlic butter that came out with the bread. We were from out of town and ended up ordering from here for pizza for us and our two kids. The bbq chicken pizza was really, really good - I just didn't pay attention to the 10" pizza thing! They're tiny!! The pizzas are really small pizzas, not good to share between more than two people. I ordered garlic bread - it was a loaf of bread (like I could get at any supermarket) and a little container of garlic butter - I guess I thought they'd at least toast the bread?! The ceasar salad dressing was more tart than we care for but the larger problem was that was asked for a "family" size salad - it served for a small salad for three of us. This was our first visit & last visit here. The turn around time was very long. We have 2 small children & our time is very limited. By the time our meals came our youngest started to lose it! This place is simply TERRIBLE. First the lettuce was black and wilted - I know many places pre-make salads but black and wilted is not acceptable anywhere! Bread was average at best. Sauce is not homemade - canned and too sweet. Meatballs - holy heck not even sure what that gray mystery meat with breadcrumbs was. I could go on and on. If you appreciate good food don't go here. The North End comes to central NH. After a long day at Story Land, the search was on for a close but fulfilling end to the day. Shed is the perfect way to describe the exterior but don't judge a book by its cover, as Joseph's far exceeded our expectations. Not only were they able to quickly seat our party of eight, but we were also celebrating a 7 year olds birthday and the waitstaff was more than willing to make it a special event. The food was a great value for the price, and the portions were very satisfying. I would recommend the spaghetti combo, which features either 12 or 18 oz of pasta, 2 meatballs and a sausage. They also serve a nice thin crust pizza, which the kids enjoyed. If you are in the area and looking for a diamond in the rough, don't hesitate to check out the spaghetti shed. read more

We stopped in after a long day of skiing we were starving and this little place was the only thing open for miles. Expected it to be at least an average dinner. I was surprised, some of the best Italian food I've had in years, these guys rival almost anything I found in the north end of Boston! I've been coming to the Spaghetti Shed on and off for a few years. It's decor is nothing special (no surprise since it's called a Shed), but the family atmosphere, incredible fresh bread with garlic butter, and hearty pasta dishes make it worth a visit. Unique among the more generic North Conway area restaurants, the shed has a fun family history and is unpretentious in its wide array of spaghetti-based dishes and checkered table cloths. Went here on recommendation from the motel we were staying at. The food was okay. I ordered a hotdog for my daughter which came so cold and seemed like it was not even cooked. First, I'd like to say that the staff was wonderful and the restaurant was quaint. BUT, we ordered the chicken parm with side of meatballs. The chicken could have bounced off the walls, and the meatballs could have been used as fish bait. We waited a while for the food to arrive, so I'm thinking, this ought to be good. Nope! The food was definitely frozen, then microwaved, and served up with watered down red stuff. They said it was sauce, but, I don't know...Chef Boy Ardee is gourmet compared to this. Also, the 'cooks' looked like convicts servin' up the slop at mess hall. Dont' eat there, as my husband got violently ill and made friends with the toilet all night. I am shocked to read some negative reviews here! Our family ADORES the Shed! (And I am not shy about writing a negative review if deserved). We have a 2nd home in Barlett and we go to the Shed almost every time we are in town. The Shed even offers a loyalty program to diners on Thursdays and Sundays which is a nice nod towards the "locals". The home cooking is yummo and the portions are tremendous, especially considering the reasonable prices. The homemade salad dressings and fresh baked bread with garlic butter are special treats. The large dessert menu offers all homemade selections, many of which are unique to the Shed... like the delectable carrot cake bread pudding! All this aside, it is the personal and friendly service that has made us Shed regulars. All the waitstaff knows our family and provides us with downhome hospitality, the like of which I have never experienced. I did hold back from giving 5 stars because I do find the menu somewhat limited. But that said, I have never had a bad meal at the Shed. I was shocked to read the review about the recylced butter... everytime we go we are sent home with our remaining bread and all the unused butter. read more

We went as a party of two families with four hungry boys between the two families. The server, a young man in his early to mid twenties, was off hand and forgot to bring in part of the order, only to bring the salad dressing when we were almost done-among other things. Then, half way through our meal, he tells our boys to pick up their trash from the floor, and clean up after themselves-something we always do after our meal. The difference in his attitude towards us (the brown skinned people), and the other families in the restaurant (all white-skinned), was glaringly obvious. We were not even asked if we needed anything else or how we liked the food. We didn't dare order dessert, were so disgusted, we just left. I'm afraid to say it, but racist server, mediocre food, and pathetic service. If you're not white, don't bother going there. We will never again. read more

Great family restaurant! We have been going to the White mountains for years but only recently discovered this place upon traveling to Attitash this summer. Must have just driven right by it it every time we went skiing in the winter. We have four children who loved the pasta dishes. Portions are huge, food is good, service is very friendly and efficient. The spaghetti dishes are cooked perfectly and the bolognese sauce was excellent. Certainly not a place for a romantic dinner but for a family coming back from skiing or Storyland it's perfect! read more

Stopped into this spaghetti joint while on vacation with my family in this area. My little daughter convinced me to give it a try with the rest of our family. It was a very simple place for simple fare. No rocket science what will please a child's pallet. The portion size was controlled by the size dish you prefer. The atmosphere was blah. The service was good. The dishes we ordered were alright, nothing special. I had the Chicken Marsala over spaghetti. My kids had the usual spaghetti with meatballs. To be honest, they could have improvements to this menu by doing a few simple things for a pasta joint like: if your going to base your business on pasta, give people more choice of pastas noodles, like ziti, rigatoni, Rotelli, linguine etc. I also felt they could have used a lot more fresh ingredients in their dishes. Where was any fresh herbs also like fresh basil. If I had use of the land that this establishment sits on, I'd be growing a Victory Garden for fresh herbs & vegetables to be added daily to my dishes. My Marsala had canned mushrooms in it !!! Lastly & most importantly, they should make homemade pasta instead of commercial grade spaghetti. It was very evident it was commercial. I grew up in an Italian area & they would NOT get away serving this up. I'd pay more gladly in a Resturant for homemade fresh pasta. This place is awesome! I was introduced to it years ago when I went camping with some family friends, as they make it a part of their yearly camping trip. And I instantly fell in love! It's a small, cozy, family pasta place. The menu is simple, but good! I took my husband here when we went up a year ago, as he loves Italian food, and is hard to please when dining out. And he loved it as well! We went one night when everyone was at home watching the Pats game, and the woman who was our waitress was very nice and gave my husband updates, and a little boy who was there (her son? Owner's son?) was really cute and was very excited that we were from Boston, because he was really into the Pats game and wanted to share his excitement. The food was very good! My husband had the lasagna, and he said it was one of the best he'd ever had. And I love their garlic butter! We can't wait to be back in the area to go back again! read more

Our family has eaten at Joseph's several times now and make it a point to eat here every time that we're in the area. At the start of the meal, fresh and hot Italian bread is served with garlic butter and the salad we always order has plenty of greens and veggies. There are several options for pasta, with two portion sizes.. The larger being 16 oz of spaghetti (I believe the smaller is 13 oz and is more than sufficient). The homemade sauces are excellent, and we have tried several, including the house sauce, red pepper pesto and marinara. There is also lasagna, some chicken and veal dishes, pizza and some non-italian options. Service has always been excellent and we have never had an issue with any of our meals. Prices are reasonable when considering that all the sauces are homemade. If you're looking for something more upscale, than there are plenty of options further down 302 in North Conway. If you're looking for good, homemade Italian food in a kid friendly, casual restaurant, give Josephs a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

A hidden treasure. Friendly staff that make you feel like a local and the food...OMG. Fell in love with the spaghetti experience so had to try their pizza the following day and it was just as good. Their Italian wedding soup was the best. Looks can be deceiving from outside but once you are in, you will remember this location. My husband would give this place a 5 star rating, I give it a 4 star because I am picky. If your hungry, and you LOOVE pasta this is the place for you. They also have a few meals that arent pasta such as meatloaf..I had the garden style marinara spagetti and it was chunky and very good. My husb. had the plain alfredo and he licked his plate clean with a big smile. They bring you a whole LOAF of hot, fresh garlic bread with a bowl of plain butter and a bowl of garlic butter. A big thank you for NOT serving those itty bitty spits of butter in the "hard to open" containers! the bread was out of this world. I took most of my dinner home and ate it 2 days later and still yummy! We were too full for dessert. This is a small, old fashioned style restaurant. Have eaten here several times over the past few years. Pasta is perfectly cooked, just al dente. The smaller plate size is plenty of food for the average hungry diner. Homemade sauces are really excellent and there are several to choose from. A loaf of hot freshly baked bread with garlic butter on the side comes free. Meal sized salads are on the menu and they are quite good, especially for anyone not wanting pasta. Place is always crowded but service is extremely friendly and fast. This one is a little tricky for me but here it goes. Found this place on Yelp (after the 99 restaurant disaster the day before) so we headed out. The place is set in an old barn I liked that my Wife didnt,Small wait of 10 mins wasnt bad small waiting area to sit in One person comes in asking if he can order takeout, he was told that they dont do takeout. They have takeout menues right at the register. Three people ordered takoout after he left. I was confused. We were seated 3 adults 1 child. Plain spaghetti with butter, Spaghetti with marinara, Spaghetti with meatballs All small portion and chicked strips ( child portion) Out comes a full fresh baked warm loaf of bread with butter and fresh garlic butter. Our orders come out, thankfully we ordered the small portion as there was a lot of food on those plates. The food was delicious, the chicken strips were not fried they were baked in a light batter that my Grandson wolfed down, he then attacked my meatballs but there was more than enough. My persnickity Wife was impressed with the food. She did not like the atmosphere she was looking at a wall coffeemaker and airconditioner. It was a little pricey considering that there were paper placemats and napkins. I wasnt bothered by that as much as she. Overall a good place to eat with very good food and good portions, and bread.
