The best Mexican food I have had in Wisconsin hands down!! Service was great, drinks were phenomenal.

We went here for dinner on Sunday night and ordered the combo plate, which was taco, enchilada, and burrito. we paid the up charge for the chicken. It was very tasty, but the enchilada and burrito had the same meat, just different tortilla shells. the burrito did not have any cheese, beans , or rice . just chicken a few onions, and peppers inside. Enchillada was meat and a little cheese on top. Nothing inside but chicken. we both had the same thing and were very disappointed in the meal for the price. Would not go back. read more

Our group of 12 walked into this Mexican restaurant for lunch, and they were able to accommodate us without any issues. The place is spacious and has some nice Mexican decor. We ordered enchiladas, tacos, and chips with guac. The food was decent, and the service was quick, which we appreciated. For drinks, we got a pitcher of spicy margarita and mango margarita. I personally liked the spicy margarita more, as the mango one was a bit too sweet for me. Overall, I recommend this place! read more

We went for lunch with a group of friends at Jose's in Wisconsin Dells on December 31st. The place had a fun Mexican décor with nice music playing. We ordered from their dinner combinations: two tacos with asada, a pork chorizo enchilada with chili con queso, and a tostada. We also had guacamole with nachos. We swung by Jose's for a casual lunch as a big group of 11 people. They were able to easily accommodate us. We did not have a prior reservation. We ordered a bunch of things for the table. We ordered some guac, salsa and chips. We also ordered some margarita pitchers. We loved the mango margarita but did not like the spicy margarita as it was too sweet. For our main course, we ordered chicken tacos, vegetarian burrito plate, vegetarian fajitas plate, Al pastor tacos, etc. Overall, the food was great and tasted really authentic. The ambience was very Mexican inspired and we felt as if we were in a taqueria in a remote Mexican village. The server was also very tolerant. The wife, daughter and I and saw this Mexican restaurant & decided to stop in at Jose's authentic Mexican restaurant Wisconsin Dells. the decor was absolutely Mexican feeling and was really cute. The service was top-notch. My wife had the chicken street taco I had the chorizo street taco And my daughter had the beef taco. My wife loved the chicken. I liked the chorizo although it was a bit too salty and my daughter loved the beef taco. Service was outstanding. We liked it so much. We bought the gang of 15 here for dinner. They quickly accommodated us. No wait The service was superb. The wife and I split essentially a shrimp and cheese quesadilla and it was delicious more than enough for both of us. I was in the area with my significant other and this place caught my attention. I had a good feeling about it. We were seated fairly fast. The booth we were seated at was comfortable. We were given complimentary chips and two different salsas. One salsa was red and thick. The other salsa was white and more of a thin liquid. All of it was great. It was all even better with salt and pepper. We even got another complimentary round of it all. I tried them the same way and they were a bit better for some reason. From the House Blend Margaritas section, we ordered a Small Frozen Original Lime for 9.99. It was hard to drink at first with it being so cold. The salt and lime on the rim helped. I enjoyed this drink, but it was definitely better after it melted a bit. From the Beverages section, Pepsi Products were 3.99. I went with a Diet Pepsi. It was tasty and so was the free refill. From the Burritos section, I ordered the Burrito De Carne Asada. It was 7oz of steak burrito served with rice & beans. Topped with red sauce, cheese sauce, lettuce, pico de gallo, & sour cream. It was 18.99. I was surprised how fast it came out. The size was okay for the price it was. There should have been more steak in my opinion. It had a decent amount of flavor. The rice & beans were decent. I was kind of pleased with the whole ensemble. The service started off alright, but it began to decline quickly. It ended up being pretty bad. Excellent Authentic food & Margaritas. We started with a Large Blueberry Margarita on the rocks. It was huge and I shared it with my husband. I had the Mexicana Enchiladas, they were stuffed with meat and very good. Covered in a mild red sauce was that was flavorful. I had rice and beans too. They were Seasoned well and very tasty. The server was very attentive. The food came out fast despite the house being packed They had a photographer onsite. They sold us our picture and 2 key chains for $20. I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting sort of a Chuck E Cheese experience, but the food and service were great. The restaurant was clean, the decor and atmosphere was nice, the portions were great, our server was prompt and everything you could ask for. I had a couple of shredded beef burritos, beans and rice. They were excellent, generous amount of beef, not smothered in cheese and filler. They could put some hot sauces on the table, other than that, very pleased, I'll be back. read more

My friend is obsessed with the Jose's food truck - he has never missed any of the stops in Mineral Point and Dodgeville, so I decided to give it a try. We arrived pretty close to closing time, but they were happy to see my friend, and even threw in free drinks as well as chips and salsa (perks!) I ordered the big burrito with ground beef, and it was HUGE! I was only able to eat half of it, but that was mainly due to the steak fajita nachos that I shared with my friend. Those were AMAZING! I definitely regretted choosing ground beef in my burrito after that - it was still very delicious, but that steak was prime. The queso is very flavorful, and comes with a little kick. I wanted to dip everything into it! I can't wait for my next stop at Jose's. read more

Food was okay. Wait for food was reasonable. Waitress never smiled, seemed to hate her job. Very inattentive. Bathroom was out of soap and their sanitizer dispensers were empty too. Told a couple of people, but they chose not to understand English. Chips were nothing special, but the salsa was good. Would have loved to have more, but they never came back between ordering and receiving our food. They don't have top shelf margarita options, so you get what they got, which I don't think had any tequila in it at all. Everyone seemed to like their food. Bottom line is reasonable food, just set your expectations for crap service and you'll be fine. With the Tommy Bartlett water show now closed, I give this whole area no more than 5 years before dropping off the map. read more

We were a little hesitant to try this establishment because of the rating and reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is very spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. Alan was our server. He was very attentive, efficient, and knowledgeable. We ordered a couple of dishes spicy, the chicken enchiladas, and the Chile verde ( pork). They were both amazing! I would rate it 3.5 Stars because yes, the food is authentic and service was great! However, we doordashed for pick up since we have a 9mo old baby and he was napping after a long day at the zoo. I wished their menu online and on doordash specified that their tacos automatically come with hard shells and not soft corn tortillas. That was the only un-authentic thing about the food was the hard shells. Otherwise everything else was seasoned well and tasted delicious. My husband called and was told he needed to pay over the phone, so he did so by reading off the credit card. We were craving Mexican food while in the Dells. My brother suggested Jose's, the old Pedro's location. I did not have very high hopes for being a tourist area, and I thought the food would be very Americanized. We were greeted with many smiles and beautiful murals on the walls and lovely decor. We came around 6p, before dinner rush, so we were seated right away in the main living room just in time to listen to live music from the band. Drinks came out in a timely manner & over all service was good and friendly. The margaritas were tasty, not made from scratch, nor much alcohol. However, the sportloght was the food. It came out fast, hot and it was authentic, I was very surprised and pleased. We frequent many places in Milwaukee and around WI. The kids even loved it, very flavorful. We will be back when in the Dells. My only concern was lack of lighting in the parking lot. It was very dark & unsafe when heading back to our car after dinner. Cheers, amigos! read more

This is my aunt and uncles favorite place to come to. They come here every time they're in the dells. This was my first time coming to the restaurant and I've been back here two more times since then. Their salsa and cheese you get with the chips are so good. The margaritas were really yummy too, not too strong not too sweet for those looking for a balance. Ordered their al pastor tacos. Literally the best tacos I've ever had. Came here with family on the final evening of our vacation and had the worst and most expensive meal of our trip. While the restaurant inside itself had some nice theming & atmosphere, the service & food did not meet, much less exceed, expectations. Getting our initial drinks took a while, and any request for refills of those drinks or for more chips took even longer. We also waited far longer than expected to receive our food, which was very subpar & lacking flavor overall. Not to mention the two of us who order fajitas received them no longer sizzling as we are accustomed to because they sat in the kitchen so long before they were brought out. While we did get 2 appetizers, none of us got any alcohol and the meal for the six of us (with the automatic 18% tip they charge but don't deserve) came to close to $180! Overall a disappointing final meal of a trip that was full of plenty of other memorable meals for all the right reasons. read more

Have heard how wonderful this place was. Actually it had been recommended my our AIRBNB. Please save your money! We love Mexican and always seek out Mexican food. We ordered a Hornitos margarita as this brand was lit up sign on their wall. Server didn't know what it was, then came back and said didn't have, not out, didn't have. Okay... not a big deal. Wait staff hung out around the bar chatting, while we waited a long time for our food. The wait was 45 minutes to be precise. If you eat at Mexican's restaurants, one of their strengths is delivering food within a reasonable time frame. We found the food to be skimpy. For example, tacos was filled 1/4 up with hard shell, so easy to notice. In addition, the waiter forgot to bring tortilla wraps so could not food until he came back 10 minutes later. There were other things but these are the ones that stood out to us. We were a party of 7 and got served after other parties around us, even though they got there after us. We have been here before and it was okay but thought perhaps someone was having bad day, which happens. There is a service charge added to ticket (gratuity) for parties 6 or more I believe. We always add on top of this. However the service was layers of layers of mishaps / mistakes with out apologies. Perhaps the wait staff needs to be retrained / educated on what it means to be in the "service industry." As the world navigates through all sorts of shortages, learning how to communicate, with your tables verses standing up by the bar chatting with co-workers will not support our current environment. People still have choices where to spend or not spend their money. read more

We made reservations for a large group (25-30) about 2 hours in advance of our arrival. When we arrived, our table was ready and waiting for us. Nice building set right off of the main strip in WI Dells. The decor was nice and made you feel like you were in an authentic Mexican restaurant. Most importantly, the restaurant was clean. Our group arrived in bunches, so the waitstaff checked in early and started filling drink orders as we arrived. I had a frozen peach margarita that looked really good and tasted great. Our group was about 50% kids (under 12), so I must say the staff were very patient with us. Before we ordered food, we asked if the staff could split the bill into families and they graciously went back to ask management. When they came back, they said they were not able to do so, but would offer to split it into bigger groups. We told them we'd figure it out amongst ourselves. From the time we placed our orders til food was on the table was minimal. Maybe 20-25 minutes. Thats amazing for a group of 25-20! I also didn't mention, this was a Saturday night. There were a few mixups while delivering food to the table, but nothing that they didnt fix in a few minutes. Everyone's food looked good. I had chicken flautas, which were pretty good. Not the best I've ever had, but good! Noone had any complaints about their food and in the end, all empty plates. The waitstaff checked back regularly and did a really good job attending to our group. Something holds me at 4-stars instead of 5. I think its that the food was "good" and not "great." But, make no mistake we had a really good experience here with a huge group. I'd definately come back again! read more
