We think we just find a new favourite hidden gem restaurant in Wisconsin Dells. We stumbled upon Kimberly Mexican Restaurant & Store and every single dish was incredibly flavorful and delicious. We got the Parrillada for two, it had chuck steak, beef rice, chorizo, chicken, shrimps, potatoes, jalapeños and green onions, and served with vegetable, rice and beans and tortillas. And it was amazing! Juicy, flavourful and honestly leaves you dreaming of more. We also got the 24 oz michelada mix with a beer and it was huge! -Indoor seating, flys all over the chips and drinks while sitting waiting for the food -The service was terrible the waitress seemed friendly ,but didn't have any concerns regarding the customers needs. We got there and we're seated and left with a menu only and the waitress kinda forgot about us being there. Service all together could improve. I walked in and there's 2 doors. I go to the one where it looks as if you'd order. Two workers sitting and eating so I ask is this where you order? They tell me to go around the other side I do. All I see is a meat counter in the back that looked abandoned and gross and no one present. There's a cashier up at the front that doesn't acknowledge me he just continues conversing with whomever so I just left. Hard to rate. Food was flavorful, but extremely greasy. We tried the Al Pastor quesadilla, just dripping in the oil so it became soft to handle . The steak encebollado (onions) was flavorful. Also ordered The arrachera taco and carnitas. The Carnitas was ridiculously greasy. It was just in a pool of oil and grease. Fortunately whatever I could eat was very yummy. The kids like the complementary chips and salsa . Pretty laid-back atmosphere, most of the tables were full when we arrived which seemed like a good sign . Came to the Dells with no experience in Wisconsin for water parks or food and left loving a little market and Mexican eatery that is serving up classic food that is absolutely delicious. Anytime you see the red and green sauce you know you have people who aren't Midwest Mexican and when you can get sopes, street tacos and carne asada burritos while drinking Miranda and Mexican coke served by a very nice staff you have a little slice of heaven. We love this place- the restaurant and the attached grocery store. We get burritos and chimichangas from the restaurant-usually carry out. They're huge and reasonably priced. We think their chorizo is the best we've ever had. They have a huge selection of Mexican products in the store. The woman who works at the checkout is very nice and helpful and she can interpret Spanish to English if need be. We stop here quite often because we've never been disappointed. And try the tamales. My husband loved the tacos, he said they were great. I had a "gordita" and it was ok. Next time I'd order their menudo. They have menudo and pozole on weekends! LEGIT taqueria in the Dells. Anyone who rates the food lower than 5 stars is a trash bag that thinks their local El Toro fajitas or smothered burrito is the pinnacle of Mexican food. Stay away if you want your little brat to wear a sombrero and get served fried ice cream while depressed servers sing them Feliz Cumplianos. The lengua taco was the star, close second was the asada taco. Third was pastor - flavorful still, but I am looking forward to trying their other meats. Great beans, great cheese dip, cheap beers. The food is always great. The staff is kind. We have been coming for years. We have to eat here each time we come to the Dells. The reason I gave 3 stars instead of 5 is because they have never followed the ADA. ADA.org has the law regarding disability parking clearly laid out. No matter the size of the lot you must have a van accessible parking spot with the access lane. The spot must also be clearly marked and have a sign. Signs are available at most hardware stores and are inexpensive. The disregard for ADA parking (and therefore discrimination as a result of disability) forces my family to only get take out and so only one person in our family can do the pick up. If they looked up and followed the ADA it would be one of the top Mexican places we've had. read more

THE BEST!!!! Every time we go to the Dells, we eat here. We found it on a whim one night and we loved it so much we came back the next day. Now, when we were are in the area, we have to eat there. Oh yesss, I planned my birthday at the Dells just to eat here. Only over an hour away from Janesville. Totally worth the drive. I haven't been disappointed yet! I had the asada tacos--very tasty and tender, not too spicy--and a cold beer. It was perfect! The table sauces were excellent. I liked the green sauce and the red sauce left a substantial burn! The service was very friendly and helpful. The indoor seating is small and there's outdoor seating. There's a frozen treat area with amazing fruit treats--try the mango one! Right when we walked in we thought we escaped the chain restaurants and found an authentic Mexican cuisine in the Wisconsin Dells! It looks like one, and smells like one, but it doesn't taste like one. Their expertise seemed lacking. The biggest problem was the taco bowl. There were gobs of solid fat in the dish. It was so much fat that it looked like the pork was heated up... but not all the way because the fat was in chunks that were unnatural. Fat is flavor, but not when it's in a solid consistency and gobs and gobs of it. We ordered the Horchata by the pitcher which was nice. It was a good value, but it was below average horchata that had too much syrup. The service was poor, and the waitress was easily triggered by any request. read more

This place has real authentic Mexican food in the heart of the Dells. So much so that when you go in most of the patrons are Mexican themselves. So you know it's good! We stay in a camper at the Dells and avoid the tourist traps as much as possible. Unfortunately the Dells has very little decent takeout food for those that want to stay in - it's either fast food or formal supper clubs. But I'm happy to say we finally found a place that we'll definitely be visiting again when we want to takeaway a tasty Mexican meal! I had spotted Kimberly Grocery on a drive through town. It looked authentic and local. The next time we were in the Dells and wanted to stay in and relax but have some delicious food for dinner, I called. They were ready with our order in 15 mins, and everything tasted delicious once we brought it back. My husband was very pleased with his burrito. I had the tacos and the meat was well seasoned, the onion and cilantro on top fresh. I can't speak to their chips, but the included salsa with the tacos (verde and red) had zing. The red packed a punch! Everything was packaged well and the price for our meal was very reasonable. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the Dells. I'm sorry Kimberly's. Your restaurant is the kind we would usually go to regularly, but things here just were not good. The food was fairly authentic and I am sure locals like it. But that was the end of the positives. We waited forever to order. Our waitess took our drink order amd disappeared to wait on the counter, cash people out, take phone calls on her cell phone. And her partner server did not seem to care. We didn't get the guacamole we ordered, and then after telling her, she didn't take it off the bill. The flies were pretty awful. And the place was just dirty. My wife pointed out that they had been busy and were sweeping up as we ate. But there was dried food/sauce splattered on the wall next to me. And on the mirror above us. And on the cooler across the aisle. The cooler glass was so dirty you had to squint to see inside. Then the bathrooms... the men's room at least had some soap in a dispenser, but the women's just had a dirty bar of soap. The garbage and smell in both was offputting. We witnessed multiple customers complain that orders were wrong. I just... no. Can not recommend to anybody. read more

Food was good - I had the torta lengua. But that's all I can say that's good about this place. Waitress doesn't speak any English - didn't know what a glass is so we couldn't ask for a glass of water. (They do have other employees that speak English, all of which were very busy since the restaurant was very busy). The chips were cold and the salsa was flavorless. Service was quite poor. Most of the restaurants in the Dells area are touristy and horrible. So we decided to eat where the locals eat and boy are we happy we found Kimberly's! Don't be fooled by the name or even the divey feel of the restaurant, the foods are fantastic and the portions are big! We were confused which door to go through. One side is a grocery store and the other is the restaurant. Just FYI, even if you entered through the restaurant (front door of the building), you would still have access to the restaurant. We went up to the counter and asked for a menu before choosing our seat. The place was practically empty on a Friday afternoon. Everything looked clean. Our drink order was taken promptly and brought out to us in short time. The food took a bit longer to get to us but we weren't in a hurry. Chips and salsa, tasted like store-bought, were served right away. When the food arrived, the portions were not only huge but fresh as well. I bought a Kimberly quesadilla dinner with a sope on the side and my husband got the Toeta Cubana sandwich. Everything was seasoned greatly. The quesadilla was crunchy. The lettuce was crisp. Everything came together very well and we were both very happy. For $20+, we had our lunch then brought leftover homes for dinner and satisfied. That doesn't happen often in the Dells except if you were at a sit down restaurant with reservations. The late lunch / dinner crowd came as we were leaving and the parking lot was full. The nachos were disappointing, as I expected the toppings to come on the chips. Instead, the three ingredients were brought separately served. The ingredients were good, though. Very unexpected to find tasty Mexican food in the Dells. I grew up in Southern California and have been trying to find good Mexican food in the Midwest. Here it is!
