    Bratwurst
    Jeff H.

Wow! I wasn't sure if I would like this place, but they blew my expectations right out the door! The atmosphere is nice, and the staff is very friendly. Now for the food: The bratwurst that I ordered was absolutely phenomenal!!! The bun was steamed just right, the bratwurst was flavorful and delicious, and the toppings were fresh and delicious! The sauerkraut was some of the best I have ever had, the tomatoes were firm, and the pickles were as fresh and crispy as I have ever had as a topping for a bratwurst. I am also impressed how they plated my bratwurst--they took great care how it was presented and made sure to put the exact right amount of toppings. I will definitely be back! Good job Left Bank!

Not sure what type of hot dog they're using, but it's awful. Easily the cheapest one! Up your dog game left bank.

This is a place for kids, hot dogs and soups. My kids went here a lot in HS. I went once and got a hot dog. It is an LF staple for kids.

Fun, buzzy fast casual dog and fry spot in downtown LF. This is a long time favorite with a big fan base for a good reason.

I went here with a group of 5 via a reservation. We were immediately welcomed and greeted by a wonderful host who sat us and explained the menu options and recommended we try everything. After dinner we popped into the other side of the bar which is an art gallery and the bartender was so friendly, welcoming and fun! We walked around the art gallery, enjoying the beautiful exhibit and sipped our cocktails for at least an hour. This was such a wonderful experience, we will def be back!

It wasn't so much a speakeasy because it was not hidden, but that didn't really matter to us once we were there . The food was Asian themed and they had different drinks than the other restaurant next-door . I thought the focal point would be a bar in the middle of the restaurant, but there was never any bar that I could locate so that was also confusing. The food was really good. We had black garlic, deviled eggs, some tuna tartare and a lamb Ragu that was really good. So if you're looking for speakeasy, this is not really a speakeasy, but it has really good Asian food so just an FYI when browsing the Internet. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I was expecting one thing when I walked in and I got another, but we were pleasantly surprised with the food and drinks that we received so we will be back.

Sadly they had no tap beer due to a wedding the night before. (Never heard that one before...) We ended up with a gin and tonic and a Sea Breeze. The majority of the patrons seemed to be Hotel guests or business meeting attendees enjoying a quick meal and a drink before ending the work day. The restaurant, located in the Hotel lobby, has a large bar and offers partial booth and table seating. The menu offers basic appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches and offers a few entrée selections. The cod in the fish & chips was good; however, the fries were limp and did not taste fresh. The grilled garlic chicken and asparagus was pretty good and the server was great! I would definitely go back if I had a colleague staying at the hotel; however, wouldn't seek out the Oaken otherwise for a night out. The ambiance is lively, with background music and the bar offered a variety of cocktail and wine options.

We were quickly seated with a reservation and the tables were lovely - gorgeous wedgewood china (even for the kids!). Greeted with prosecco for adults and sparkling juice for the kids. Service was really friendly and helpful with tea selections. There are about 4 options for children if they want tea as well. Food was good and there was a tower for the kids (their the older child at our table wanted the adult sandwiches...). Plenty of sandwiches and sweets. The scone actually was the standout though - orange cranberry - very soft and delicious. Customary lemon curd, jelly and cream - delicious. All in all, this was a nice, fancy time for tea but there were some negatives namely: no one ever asked if we wanted more drinks (I would have had a glass of champagne but no one returned or asked - I could have flagged someone down but was surprised at this level of hotel that service wasn't so helpful). We also felt rushed - I would have stayed longer to enjoy but get they were cleaning up our table quickly. Instead, we brought some of the treats to go. While the staff was friendly, they weren't really there a lot - I saw some tables get asked if they wanted more sandwiches - but we did not... and it wasn't because we had kids at the table because I'd say at the time we went, more than 50% of the tables had kids with them. We did get a nice little to go gift of tea, chocolate and a tea strainer. I'm conflicted upon returning just due to feeling rushed.... I always go for tea once a year at least and I've been to every fancy hotel in the city (and other restaurants) for tea and multiple hotels in Europe (Ireland, England) and this was the most European feeling but really felt less relaxed even though the surroundings were gorgeous.

It made the experience feel impersonal from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere was very dark and gothic, which may appeal to some people, but it didn't feel warm or inviting to us. Between the unwelcoming first impression and the overall vibe, it's just not a place I would choose to visit again. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be back.

Lake Bluff Brewing Company has been in business quite a few years. A kind of limited amount to choose from but these are well crafted. The prices are okay if a bit higher. Came in and we got a table so we could drink and eat. It's only got beers but you can bring in stuff. There's plenty of places within a fast walk. As for the beers here, the selection is kind of limited. It's about $7 a pint. Best one we got was the Sour Belgian Monkey Strong Ale. It's 9% ABV and certainly strong. For food we went to The Otherdoor. It's about $11 for a few tacos. Also Maevery Public House is next to here. There's lots of close by restaurants and stores. Have a good time with beers and games. It's just beers on the menu but you can still bring in stuff. They're open every weekday and open longer on weekends.
