I was told the wait time would be about 15 minutes, but it ended up taking around 45 minutes. After waiting that long, the food was very disappointing. The presentation was messy, the sauce spilled all over the bag, and the burger/fries looked like they were just thrown into the box. Easily one of the worst "dining" experiences I've had in a long time. First off, we were seated without a wait. It started off bad when they were already out of the first three things we tried to order (ribs app, salsa app, mango drink), so we decided to keep it simple and just ordered two easy appetizers, wings and tacos. That's when it went completely downhill. We sat there waiting while multiple tables that came in AFTER us were seated, served, and already eating their food. Inside and outside. Meanwhile, we had nothing. No updates, no urgency, nothing. It was honestly kind of crazy to watch. After over an hour, we were finally told our food was "on the grill." Another 20 minutes went by... still nothing. At that point, it was obvious something went wrong. Seems like the waitress clearly made a mistake but blamed it on the backed up kitchen, even though we could literally see food coming out for other tables seated after us. My mom found this place online and we decided to try it out before heading to Joshua tree national park the next day. Entering from the side/back, they had a good sized dining area which based on a sign said beer garden. It had colorful chairs and plenty of room. We chose mac n cheese and broccoli. Our orders came out rather quickly. The fried pickles were delicious! The batter was nice and crunchy and the actual pickle spears were great too. Upon my first bite, the pickle came out the batter but the batter didn't crumble or fall apart so I was able to push the pickle back in, which was great in my opinion. It also came with a side of ranch. The ribs were nice, tender, and meaty. Each bite was filled with meat, it didn't feel like I was constantly bring into bone. They weren't dripping with sauce but it wasn't completely dry either. We did ask for more sauce though. The Mac and cheese tasted like basic Mac and cheese, nothing to write home about. The broccoli was made with garlic butter but it actually tasted watery to me. Overall it was great meal despite us coming in at 9pm on a Friday night. I would love to come back in the day. read more

If you're looking for ambiance and character, you've found it here. Imagine the movie 'WaterWorld' with Kevin Costner, but on land, and instead of imprisoning mutants, they serve food and drinks. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, this gastropub is as quirky as it is inviting. The inside bar has that cozy, lived-in feel of small-town New England pubs, which just so happen to be my favorite places to hang out. They've got about 15 beers on tap--exactly what you'd expect from any self-respecting saloon. The menu offers a mix of comfort food and reasonably healthy options, which made choosing a challenge. We settled on the BBQ chicken sandwich and the Signature salad, which is like a chef's salad meeting a Mexican fiesta. Both were delicious and matched the laid-back vibe perfectly. To start off the entrance requires you to walk all the way from the back parking lot through all the outdoor seating around to the front. When we checked in he changed his story and said "oh we don't give wait times, I never said that." Later we watched him try to seat people who arrived after us and were below our name on the list. The staff is friendly, busy, and quick. The bill was very quick. The ac is on but not overly cooling. Beers and sodas come in 16 or 22oz. The one 22oz was $3.25 more than its 16oz version. Their happy hour is 3-6pm Mon- Fri. The salads are big. I got the bbq chicken sandwich. The cheese is $2 extra. The bbq sauce and sandwich were very good. The coleslaw is mayo based, so I got the beans as a side. It had tomatoes, red onions, and jalapeño. The mushroom and Swiss and fries were also very good. The Saloon is open until 11 most nights with their kitchen open until 10pm. The staff is friendly and the vibes are truly authentic.
